  • that surface must be relly fast

  • also check out virtualtennisacademy. com the guy who runs it is a professional tour coach who teaches atp and wta tour

  • lol.... okie

  • This guy knows what he's talking about - he shows how to pronate the forearm and doesn't advocate use of the wrist - very good teaching points, especially at beginner level. One of the better instructional tennis videos on Youtube.

  • This is more of an advanced windshield forehand, better to know a flat forehand before attempting this .... He is a good instructor..... Clear explanations !

  • flat? modern (windshield) forehand is almost never flat ... besides, he's teaching a semi western, and it's not flat at all

  • The stroke being demonstrated is not a windshield forehand - it has a conventional follow through across the shoulder. The windshield wiper forehand is different in that the racquet head dips towards the ground on follow through - the two strokes are completely different. You can study their analysis on FYB. It is NOT better to know a flat forehand - why spend time learning a low percentage shot when it is more constructive and worthwhile learning a high percentage and more reliable shot!

  • Yes that is a fine forehand to teach to recreational players. However, I just can't wait to hear Roger, or Rafa, say that " it looks like I am using my wrist but I am not". He shows examples of using wrist incorrectly, and basically is saying wrist use is a real no-no. Why is this so prevalent in the tennis community? Will we see baseball coaches telling their players not to use their wrist while throwing?

  • using the wrist as your main source of racquet speed will lead to injury... the trick is keeping the wrist loose and using the big muscles (legs, core, shoulder) to generate the power and the loose wrist will accelerate on its own

  • Good point!

(although the wrist is kept firm, not loose)

  • It's not wrist - in tennis it's pronation of the forearm. Baseball is not tennis - why mention it? Many beginners in tennis use the wrist incorrectly when swinging a racquet - that's why good coaches will look out for this and use corrective teaching. The principle of the demonstrated forehand is not only for recreational players - why should it be?

  • Cart is one of the few people on the internet that can play effortless tennis. Not only should we do what he says in his instructions. but i think we should try and copy his strokes exactly. Also he has the ability to hit across the ball. This allows a person to be able to make longer contact with the ball on the strings, thus keeping it longer on the strings can result in better control.

  • It's better to copy Federer's strokes - everyone has slightly different nuances in timing and stroke production. Federer's preparation and downswing through to contact is what we should be copying.

  • he's good.

  • sucks... racket angle is all wrong

  • At which point are you discussing the racquet angle?

  • Good lesson.

  • yeah he explains things pretty well

  • wow! I like that guy Carl, how can I get a lesson with him , he is the best , i like the way he explains that forehand. he must be a high performance coach
