This is a great looking car and a real flash back to what Hot rods were before you could just order from a parts catalog.Maybe some of you Wanna Be hot rod guys need to go back from 1963,64,and 65 and read about altered wheel base cars and why they were built that way--Super car Dale.
Some of you's are a real bunch of idiots. This car is SWEET. Go watch West Coast and ChipFoose lower everything and throw 20's with low profile tires on everything. How original...Keep it up old schoolers!!!
taller means more unstable if a sudden turn is made...not much of a problem if on a dragstrip...but being a street legal car..makes it more dangerous...sounds great btw..
I grew up at SoCal dragstrips from the end of '63 until drafted (Vietnam) in '69 and that, of course, took me thru the heart of AF/X altered wheelbase cars (Landy, Leal and so so so many others) so I can appreciate the retro look but how many other people, in today's automotive world can appreciate, even understand, what it's all about? Where are the long tubes on your Hilborne mechanical injectors? And is there an Art Carr 7,000 RPM stall speed torque converter behind those dashboard buttons
To the people who do not car for it, so be it. Its not your car. I built it, I'm proud of it, and if you built something, and I did not like it, that'd be just my opinion, but I'd still respect your hard work.
Please remember, this was the first day the car was actually able to drive out on the street,. Since this video was shot, it was lettered up, the back end finally lowed down , and it has been raced on two continents and several countries. It continues to portray a bygone era of racing.
Glad you took something that belongs to you and personalized it as you wanted. Life is too short to care for the opinions of others who most likely will never build or restore a vehicle of their own. Let them continue to sit on their hands. Cheers.
Very cool altered. Historically accurate and well done. Looks like it runs and handles smooth. I drove a buddies Coronet alterned ("Ramchargers" knock-off) Crazy fast in a straight line, but a bucking bronco on anything like a freeway on-ramp...plus the 5 gallon fuel cell would only get you about 25 miles down the road...with no gas gauge.
Very nice car!! I love the look of the a/fx cars! Takes me back to my childhood, looking at my best friends older brothers issues of Hot Rod. I remember we used to ride our bikes to the end of the street on the weekends and watch for cars on trailers on the highway on their way to US30 dragstrip in Indiana. wish I could go back and do it all again. Thanks for he memories!
You're not a real bright guy are ya? We took a smoldering pile of crap and turned it into a car that is loved by people everywhere--just because you have no taste and don't understand the historical signifigance...well, what can I say except you're a putz! BTW, no stock Dart would come close to selling for the amount paid by the new owners you moron.
YOU JUST KILLED THE MEANING OF OLD CLASSIC CARS YOU MADE A PERFECTLY GOOD CLASSIC CAR LOOK LIKE CRAP AND YOU JUST LOWERED THE PRICE VALUE OF THE CAR BY DOING THAT
@camreonjo Oh, please. Who died and made you boss? Who gives a shit about an old Dart? No one would even give one a second look at a cruise-in, but the way it looks now? Definitely yes. You have no idea what you are talking about.
@camreonjo Perfectly good classic car???? Are you nuts??!! He took a car only a horn-rimmed eyeglass wearing nerd with a pocket protector could love into a super-cool nostalgia drag car. Great job on the Dart!! It's what they were made for. If not that, what else?
The guys that drove these in stock form when they were new are now driving Honda Insights......
Classic?! It's a Dart for gods sake, they're everywhere. That car has been seen and admired by people all over the world (Literally; it resides in England, has been to Germany and France...) People love it now--it never got a second glance in stock form. BTW, we've hacked up a few of them, some Nova's (far more collectible cars) Chevelles, the newest one is a 64 Comet (also much rarer than a Dart)
@Puterdad its a dart! turned into a dragster! nothing destroyed about it at all.. i happen to REALLY like darts and other a body's, alot..but this is not the worst thing that could have happened to this car
1964 Dart creme colot. Dang! That was my first car...minus the drivetrain and altered wheelbased of course. Actually, minus the MI rust too. Real trip!
i give you your credit sir nice dart.... im currently working on my 73 dart with a 318 and a 727 trans..... i plan to stroke it t 360.... any tips you can give me?
Kudos to you sir, for getting your Dart done before my '63 Valiant. I hope to see ya at Irwindale or Fontana later in the year for an awesome race between two A-body F/X cars
Thats how altered cars were back in the day..axle moved forward, straight axle up front...they just look strange...but they are fun to watch go down a strip
Nice ride!!! ,

@robkal56 Mine too!! Well sort of. It was my mothers but I learned to drive on it.
'64 Dodge Dart "25th Anniversary Edition" gold colored, 170ci, 3-speed column shifted.
We used to say thet hampsters were working as hard as they could. I don't think the original motor could muster more than about 40-50hp to the wheels.
I for one, love what you've done to this car. It is a +/- period correct modified.

What is rego? The car is street driven to the track and any other place it goes. It is fully licensed and insured in the state of California.
