some bassets sink like stones. I've heard rumors (haven't verified) that some bassets have denser bones than others. So I suspect if you had a basset that didn't have a lot of fat + dense bones, swimming could be tricky. When we made this video, Rubens was very lean, and did not take well to the water. These days, 2 years later, he's on a diet but more like a seal than a basset from some angles. He could probably float just fine now.
