Who gives a shit if Robbie can't sing very well? He had a real unique tone and style on guitar, he was a great guitarist and songwriter. Listen to the Dylan song "Dirge". That acoustic playing will tingle your spine. He's a lot better than someone like Keith Richards, who gets a hell of a lot more credit than Robbie.

@ryanhashton he's not much better than richards. equal. theyre quite similar really, both great songwriters, both great guitars players of a similar understated style. Richards wrote some of the greatest riffs and guitar parts in history man, never shit on the richards. This is comin from a big robertson fan

Besides which, everyone who is ripping him is just jealous. You're talking about the man hand picked by Bob Dylan to play lead guitar on the tour that changed music forever. JRR and The Hawks (at the time) are an essential piece of the evolution of rock and roll as we now know it. That famous tour opened the door for just about everything you listen to!! so have some respect. These men are musical gods and don't deserve to have morons who probably can't even tune a guitar mocking them!!!!

Everyone always rips Robbie, but don't forget when The Band was in their prime JRR was an essential piece of the puzzle, as were they all. Those who question his singing ability just haven't heard enough The Band material. Compared to Levon, Rick and Richard he's not at that level but very few humans are....if you go get The Band Musical History boxset there are a few songs that Robbie sings and he's actually pretty good! Particularily his sketch recording of Twilight...hauntingly beautiful.
