You'll want a better switching system. Just use a really cheap little mechanical relay, and you'll get much better results than touching wires together.
@xenarian if you didn't see, I used RU-62 hydrogen spark gap. Wires that I touched together connected with ignition contact for a spark gap. relay switches for 6kv and 10kA will cost much money
