Get a band... Make a band. You are, for me and many other guitarist, one of the best electric guitarist in the world. Some years ago, I had a dream, I wished to see Sonata arctica, but this dream faded when you had to leave the band.

well when i play i find it best to center my thumb with my other fingers (if that makes any sense at all) but when you're going for the low e string it's normal and not exactly a bad thing if you're thumb curves over the fret board when you're doing bends. I just made that comment earlier because this guy has really nice technique and is a very talented player.

ahh ok, i dont really see when jani does this another way then you are discribing, and i dont really see how you could confortabally bend the lower strings another way then with your thumb over the fret board (and you you are making sense with the thumb center to your other fingers, you mean that it's always giving the most support possible right?) - cheers

well my philosophy on playing is whatever is most comfortable and uses the least amount of movement. everyone has there own and if you don't, you should probably think outside the box and be ore original.

I never thought about it too much, on the top half of the fretboard I bend down and the bottom I bend up.  Like, the top e I bend up and the bottom E I bend down. I suck at explaining.

No you pretty much got it right, and also its good when doing vibrato to bend up and down (but evenly) to give it that "over dramatic" but awesome tone

well when your bending the lower strings like E A and D you'd probably want to bend down but for the higher pitched strings i'd bend upwards.

Yeah his technique is ALMOST flawless he just needs to work on his thumb when he goes for the low e string. It's a really hard habit to break so i don't blame him. Very talented guitarist by the way haha. thanks for posting;)

from what i see he's just placing his thumb over the neck to help his bends sound better and it might be just me, but i place my thumb slightly over the neck when im playing rhythm parts,also when he starts breaking out into his leads, his thumb slides back behind the neck to have better accuracy and speed on the fretboard

Actually you can choose between army and civil duty in Finland. I don´t know if civil duty is the right word but anyway then it´s 13 months if I remember correctly. And you´ll be working in a kindergarten or hospital etc.
