  • weird al looks kinda hot in this video..lolz..

  • Love the Doors! What song is this from though?

  • when the musics over

  • craigslist is the best

  • no, i've heard this song before.....ill find this out.....

  • CRAAAAAAAIGSLIST!

  • you are so cool.

  • That was hilarious! I love The Doors, and this was pretty good!

  • he looks like good old jimmy

  • The Doors are amazing! Love Weird Al too

  • weird al should tour with ray mansarek,I would buy tickets,I might remember more this time around!!

  • Woot, new Al vids! Is that Al playing JM?? OMG What a hottie! LOL! This song is hilarious, nevermind the youngsters who don't get it :P Long live big Al! :)

  • This is actually a parody of Soul Kitchen and When the Music's Over.

  • I think it's more a parody of the thier whole sorta 'genra' lol know what i mean? rather than a parody of one song in particular

  • what song does lis song make fun of

  • amen

  • this was probably meant to sound like the doors(which it does) though all i heard especially the intro was "im your venus"

    go ahead thumb me down

  • Yeah, it definetly sounds like when the musics over

  • DAMN..... damn.....

    thank you

    and thank you again

  • you really have to listen to the song

  • Robby Krieger has to be playing on this as well. His guitar sound is very distinctive.

  • wow this actually sounds like a new doors song, with very weird lyrics xD

love the bridge around 3.00 xD

  • I remember it , as if it were yesterday.... " Come on baby light my fire, come on baby light my fire, let's try to set the night on fire" blaring from That Grad student's speakers for the love of Bollywood, will it ever stop? I hope not , because it's embedded in my Mind 25 hours a day - 8 days a week.... for the love of exaggeration !!!! My word.

  • When i was a little kid,(like anyone cares) Our wild crazy neighbor from India used to blast Doors music 25 hours a day.I can still hear it for the love of GOD. I can't get it out of my mind. Of all the things i've lost, I miss my mind the most !!! Excellent work Ray and Weird Al.!!!!

  • India has 25 hours a day? Man that country is more twisted than I imagined

  • He and Ray Manzarek, the Doors keyboardist are parodying the overall style of the doors sound. Some examples would be Soul kitchen, my eyes have seen you, When the music's over, riders on the storm, light my fire etc. It is amazing !!! I love it !!!

  • which song is this parodying?

  • It's a parody of The Doors.

  • it's a style parody of The Doors. It doesn't parody one specific song, just their general style.

  • no im pretty sure its supposed to be when the musics over

  • ok, thank you!

  • And great band too.

  • Great parody! Who else but Weird Al has the talent to pull this off? This is a new Doors tune, AFAIC.

  • great job of getting that doors sound, lol, Al does a great job at mimicking the way people move, he's like the perfect parody person

  • fantastic!

  • haha, not bad Weird,, i like how he touches on all the different kinds o stuff on cl.

  • you are funny

  • Has to be one of the most talented musicians out there . That was awesome!

  • i liked ebay better

  • fuckin fruit cake like what my aunt sent for christmas

  • when I first discovered this genius years ago, I thought that we should be married, 'cause he is such a goofball and I have always made up parodies of songs...gottal love it!

  • *screaming fan girls*

    He's still got it.

  • oh wow, my nickname for years was "Catnip" haha

  • And yeah, Soul Kitchen like at the beginning. So many references..

  • 2:12

Looks like a reference to Roadhouse Blues ^^

Anyway, great song, probably his best "in the style of" song :P

  • Reminds me of the Doors.

  • No shit Sherlock

  • brilliant.

  • you've had to have gone to Craigslist and heard these Doors tunes to really appreciate the hilarity of this masterpiece...:)

  • yeah i know u r tottaly right

  • HA HA HA HA HA oops.... i peed a little.

it's not funny because it's absurd, but rather because you can go on craigslist right now and see some posts that are exactly like these lyrics. btw, whats the name of the song he's parodying?

  • i think soul kitchen - the doors. im sure its the doors, just not s100% what song.

  • it's not a parody of one in particular like he normally does, but I was racking my brain about it too, so I looked it up and Wiki says it includes nuances of "When the Music's Over", "The End" and the obvious "Light My Fire"...he is such a genius...I used to make parodies of songs-still like to when I am making fun of a song- I seriously considered contacting Al about them, but never did...wow-I could have hit the bigtime collaborating with him...oh well....:)

  • @kittenrenea

Sounds a bit like "Twentieth Century Fox," too.

  • haha! that's cute....I always though the TCF was a neat play on words...anyhoo, that is my nickname an ex gave me and I now use it for email and stuff-I have always been a cat purrson (people are always telling me I look like I have cat eyes, 'cause they are green and unusual looking) and my middle name is 'Renea' ...when I was younger I used to go by 'Catnip' , and had it on my car tag for years-boy, did I get some crazy comments about that one! God Bless! :)

    Tami

  • MAN! That was awesome. Bravo. Also, I'm trying to sell a used Pong system, still good no history in a still-legible box with 2 joysticks and 1 dial if anyone is interested. Also 5 games but I can't read the labels because they belonged to my dad in the 70's so they're kind of beat up but they are still good, I know that because my stepbrother in whose in Iraq told me that they were fun so I'll take his word for it.

just kidding, i love this song

  • lol i love the morrison impression

  • you got that right-really love the 'yeah baby' stuff -he is so talented and hilarious-I think he deserves more credit than he gets-I get disgusted with all these egotistical, sleezy, vulgar singers out there making big bucks singing garbage-Wierd Al has always been an original and he can really change like a chamelion when he is doing different genres. I think anyone that doesn't appreciate this man probably has the personality of a dry sponge and they take themselves too seriously.... :)

    Tami

  • that...was beautiful

  • Once again another masterpiece of parody. Loved it.

  • Absolutely right-on fantastic! He's got it all down totally pat. The Best.. The Best. The Best. Want More. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks and Thank You again. S.

  • This guy is still making songs? I remember his from the '80's

  • this is the best doors sing and now weird al is doing it lmao thats hilarouss

  • In case no one knows, Ray Mazarek is actually on they keyboard for this song :P

  • He's still got it!

  • I never thought I would see Weird Al do a parody of Doors songs. That threw me for a loop I LMAO'd

  • I never tire of this.

    ...no tip for you...

  • My god. still as amazing as ever

  • It's amazing that after 2 1/2 decades he's still as great as ever!

  • me too. keep on truckin'

  • will someone tell me if my background looks ok on my acount?

  • your background looks good, creepy but good lol.

  • I can see elements from the following songs:

    When the Music's Over

    Soul Kitchen

    Twentieth Century Fox

  • Dance on fire as it intends

  • In case you folks didnt know that is Ray Manzarek on keyboards.

  • I wondered about that...

  • I didnt get the coffee shop sequence until I watched some old footage of Jim Morrison in concert. In the middle of songs he would just rant about something random that he observed/experienced. That's what Al is doing too.

  • I love the old footage and the native americans in the vid. I love it when he does a video that is visually serious.

It almost makes the song funnier.

  • A famous recording star once said that it didn't matter how many of his singles or albums went gold or platinum, how many concert tours he made, nor even how many Grammys he won.

He said that no musician can ever be truly sure that he's really "made it" in the music field, until he's been parodied by Weird Al Yankovic.

  • I heard that, I'm pretty sure that quote is from an old interview with Dave Grohl right after Smells like Nirvana came out.

  • It starts out with "Soul Kitchen" and then sort of morphs into "When the Music's Over".

  • Nice... a classic spin

  • what song is this a parody of?

  • It is Weird Al's interpretation of The Doors, sounds closest to Riders on the Storm (listen to the entire Doors original).

  • the lonely island suck they only have 1 good vid but wierd al is awesome and has been around far longer than them

  • L.I. is brilliant and hilarious. But we all owe much respect to W.A.; to your point, kidninja2, he's been around, like, six times longer than L.I., and he's proven himself more versatile than most mainstream musicians out there.

  • Who is the girl in this, who is dressed all in gold? She is beautiful!

  • damn people we are all entitled to our own opinions!

  • There = In or at that place...

    Their = Belonging to them...

  • Yeah, okay. This was only put up a few months ago too. So, no, they are not better, nor will they ever out-sell Al. Lastly, although I like Lonely Island, there songs are generally about the same shit. It gets old. At least Al has stuff that isn't the same overdone, retard-level, crap. You could be 11 or 12 years old and get most of the cheap jokes L.I. puts out.

  • Ray actually played the keys on this

  • i like wierd al as well but too be blunt i really do not like this song whatsoever but he does make ausome music and i enjoy it

  • Weird al is awesome, but this is probably not his best song, well, not probably, it isnt his best song

  • Also, doesn't even make an effort to sound like Jim.

  • Actually, Weird Al has written loads of his own songs. Try a little research, dumb arse.

  • No, as a matter of a fact close to half the songs on every one of his albums are complete originals, and NOT parodies. you really should know something about what you're talking about before you go spouting off. And for that matter what albums, parody or otherwise have YOU written? If you've never played the game, don't go talking about how it should be done.

  • Really? Please do. I'll wait.

  • WTS: why shouldn't he continue to make parodies? Unlike you, he's made millions of dollars and made millions of people happy. Having tried my hand at parody more than a few times myself, I will say it's a very special skill and talent to not just fit random words to someone else's melody, but to actually retain the overall feel of the song being parodied in a humorous manner.

True parody is hard, and Weird Al is one of the few masters.

  • just cause your in a shitty band doesnt mean your creative ass hat get some respect first and then maybe you can call other people out

  • 500 bucks? u must not be that good.

  • not half bad for sophmore in columbia university.

  • then why did you come to this video.....?

  • cuz i am greatly influenced by the doors and heard manzarek was on this track, so i decided to listen to what he contributed. and while i was impressed with what he did, i was really unimpressed by weird al.

  • well to each their own i suppose.

  • I bet your the best band in your backyard too

  • Alright, im done commenting on this vid, i was just tryin to say that i don't think this is a good parody at all, and i don't see how weird al is funny at all..

  • you probably suck anyway - with such an original name like "Wu-Tang Shogun" - just because you "actually play in a band and you are a singer-songwriter" doesn't mean you are any good at it.

You are also calling Ray Manzerik "Shit" because he was in the Doors as their keyboard player and he is playing on this track...that says it all to me...What is the name of your hit song again?

Al writes many original songs and he's famous, while you are just another wanna-be nobody.

  • Ray Manzarek is the shit. Al is a fuckin child. Grow a pair.

  • An open letter to the snotty barista at the coffeebean on SanVicente Bulevard:

I know there were 20 people behind me in line, but I was on a cellphone call with my MOTHER. Didn't you see me hold up my index finger, that means, " I'll order my soy decaf hazelnut latte in just a couple minutes." So what's with the attitude, lady? No tip for you...

  • Haha. I always wanted Jim Morrison to be made fun of. Happy B day Weird Al.

  • how old r u now?

  • lol! This song is 100% true. scary..

  • i love the doors

  • While some may think this is rock and roll heresy and have your knickers in a twist, Ray Manzarak actually contributed to this track.

  • how dare you the doors style to make fun of something the doors is no joke.

  • Dude, calm down. True, The Doors are awesome and they shouldn't be mocked. But he's not mocking The Doors here, he's mocking Craigslist. Besides, I think this is genius...Weird Al is great!

  • so well done it's scary...

  • want song is he making fun of here. ???

  • The music is mostly borrowed from "When The Music's Over".

  • i love looking in the free section of craiglist

one time this guy was selling free oak tree wood in the describtion it said "just come to my house and cut it off my trees and its yours"

  • He was "selling" free oak tree wood?

  • thats what the thing said

  • this 1 wasnt very good my fav is still stuck in the drive-thru u gotta check it out... its li\ong but good.

  • yeah, this is just... not good at all... i don't like it.... SORRY AL but you can and have done so much better...

  • wrong, its as good as ever.

  • it isn't wrong, it's my opinion. and i just don't like the music.

  • so you hate the Doors?

  • Hate?! no!! i don't hate The Doors, the music just doesn't appeal to me as much as other genres, but that doesn't mean i "hate" them. ? where did you get that from??

  • My cat told me. But I think he smokes to much weed and is paranoid of anyone who disagrees with any of Weird Al's Songs, Sorry. I did not like this song the first time I heard it, but then the next couple of times it grew on me.

  • it's a parody of the Doors

  • Im havin a total brain fart here what is this song a parody of

  • not a parody, more like a review of CRAIGSLIST

  • KGB 542-542

  • im not gonna give those fuckers my money

  • are u talking about craigslist? what "fuckers" do u speak of?

  • Read the comment above the KGB text line

  • i don't believe it is a specific song... just think it is a tribute/parody of The Doors themselves...

  • bi bonk ba chonk ba donk bi bam boo l0lz

  • I had to look twice... this looks A LOT like the real deal in the video. Nice job!

  • Oh, my God. This is amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • Jim would be proud :)

  • It sounds like hes saying "penis"

Only giving you the penis! lol

  • Curb alert

  • awesome song!!

    really! yankovic's a genious....

  • Do you want my styrofoam peanuts?

  • Wow! Spot on Doors sound!

  • I love this video its mad, crazy, funny plus they nailed the sound of the doors perfectly and they nailed the look of the time period.

  • I gotta say Al has aged pretty well

  • Great song, Wonderful creativaty for s simple website. Good job

  • making fun of old doors songs, various ones.

for all of yall who are confused

  • thanks I was confused which song it was lol XD

  • what song is he supose to be making fun of?

  • Souls Kitchen by The Doors

  • YEAH DUDE TOTALLY, Music is all about how many people know the name of the band! It has nothing to do with the talent of the musicians or the quality of their music! YEAH!

  • Dude u r a major tosser. of course it has something to do with their music, first off they have to have good music to be recognised and get higher in the industry and more popular, if there was a bnad with an awsome name and a shit hole song thats crap all noone would give a shit. its not wat its all about

  • he rocks so hard

  • trippy man I LIKE IT!

  • lol what is this meant to be a parody of?

  • it's the doors, break on through i believe.

  • Not spoofing any particular song, just the The Doors style in general.

  • meh, one of your worse songs

  • whats the original of this song, plz message me and tell me thx.

  • A combination of Soul Kitchen, Lighy my Fire and When The Music's Over by The Doors

  • The Doors are the best band Ever, in my Opinion. Even though this is a Parody, I look at it more of a tribute. I mean, the clothes... And Manzarek helped out with the song.

  • That it is. I completely agree with you.

  • If they are the best then why haven't i heard of them? ;)

  • Because you probably don't listen to old Music

  • The odds are that you have heard them. If you have watched Apocalypse Now, you have heard. Also at least one of their songs appears in the film Forest Gump.

You have prolly don't listen to classic rock if you can't recognize them.

  • Doesn't matter if i've heard their music the important thing is to know their name.

A band you don't know the name of can't be classed as being the best. It's basic logic.

If anything a good band is one that's well known and that if you said to the random on the street their name.. then they'd know it and naturally if they were known for good reasons then that's a + if it's bad then obviously it's baad.

  • So according to your 'basic logic' if YOU haven't heared of a band then they can't possibly be good? Is it possible that maybe a band was one of the best bands years and years ago and YOU just haven't heard of them? Or, are you declaring yourself the end all be all of musical knowledge and what bands are good versus which ones aren't? The Doors were very very popular in their day and age and just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean anything does it?

  • anooseholay, hallelujiah!
