I've seen the '90s cartoons series of Rupert, but never this incarnation, with which I'm not very familiar. I didn't even know there were any other series featuring the titular character until coming across them on Wikipedia.
Notice that Grimlike evil twitching stick thing is not in the credits. That thing would not be 'banned' by todays standards just wiped off the drawing board by most animation team leaders for fear of medical evaluation.
A lot of the people involved in the making of this wonderful series, Mary Turner, Christine Glanville, Rowena White, David Elliot and John Read, used to work for A.P. Films/Century 21 for Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.
Wow i still sing this tune today and had to find it on you tube...thanks for posting....Now i just can't get it out of my head...........I'm 36!!! (shame)
Found this & showed to my mum, who promptly burst out laughing, telling me I used to cry when it finished & badgered her for years for a cuddly raggety!
I don't remember crying, but I did love this programme.
Wow. Where have the years gone ? Seems like I watched all of this as a kid in another lifetime. Old B&W TV (knobs for changing channels). I can still taste a slice of Mr Kiplings cherry bakewell tart.
You have hit the nail on the head!!!...We used to watch Rupert when we ran home from primary school for our lunch. We went to a little village school, and we lived next door. Truely wonderful memories,...and then came rainbow, or pipkins...ah memories. Thank you, (Belfast)

That one says 1970 (MCMLXX) at the end, although it ran in UK newspaper from 1920...

fantastic, uk late 60s - the original you might say.
has anyone got the intro titles?

I've never seen this version before but it does look kinda corny. The hand drawn cartoon that aired on Nick Jr in the 1990s was much better.
