  • Was made aware of Junior through a muso mate..an awesome sound and a brilliant blues feel ..charisma can't be taught..you either have it or you don't..JW has it in spades..this is the blues guys ..the real deal ;-)

  • Watson is the king of this genre - Westcoast swing and jump blues. Last I checked Carlton didn't play swing. Watson is nothingBUT emotion and creativity, unlike the thousands of hacks out there, including yourself. ( I went to your home page. You guys should stop while youre ahead)

I've been playing for going on 40 years so there aint no name you could drop that I don't know about. But I could drop a few on you - Take a listen to Tiny Grimes and you'll start to hear what Juniors saying.

  • @59vibrolux juniors da king

  • So sad--you guys all have such poor ears--emotion & creativity is the key. I see some one knocking Larry C--that guy can coax more out of ONE note than these so called new blues guys who are nothing more than shredders. Listen to other players and then create from what you hear. Be yourself---articulation, nuance, dynamics--and--space between passages. been playing for 54 yrs. shared the stage with guys you probably never heard of-unless you're familar with Paul Butterfield. BE YOURSELF !

  • I seen him years ago and thought he was really good, Now he seems really self indulgant.

  • Bluesatbirth etc....junior's copying older guys playing...well hold the front page!! who hasn't? It's where we all get ideas...off someone else...even Robert Johnson copied other people. Actually, Junior goes well beyond merely copying...you need to pay a bit more attention.

  • His licks are BB and Albert---nothing new or original.

  • Yea Ok Troll. I got one suggestion. Q-tips.

  • @BluesGeek Got one better--I just don't listen to guys that copy and have no originality to their playing. These guys are everywhere--they don't stand out .But since I have an open mind and I constantly listen to other players I gave him a listen. Simple I just don't need to listen to him anymore--nothing new or ORIGINAL!

  • Yea...Ok...Troll. Thats too funny. It not your open mind u should worry about...it's your

shitty attitude & inabilty to hear. Now go wank off elsewhere Troll.

  • @BluesGeek I've been at this game for over 50 yrs. I still give every body a listen--you guys should open your ears--I listen for originality--licks that are part of the tune--mainly--EMOTION--copying doesn't cut it for me. There is nothing there to learn from--unless you can't be original!

  • @bluesatbirth get a clue d-bag - have you ever heard either AK or BB play rhythm like that? The answer of course is no. If Jr. is derivative-and all blues is derivative by definition-then his inspiration comes from people you have never heard of and never will. You're one of those neanderthals who don't seem to be curious about where this music comes from. Agree with BluesGeek!

  • @Fatshead First of all my comment was his licks--I made no mention of his rhythm playing. Sorry but I've been at this game for over 50 yrs. and have shared beers, tunes and talks with the likes of Butterfield, Bloomfield, Bishop and John Hammond--to name a few. You should listen to Larry Carlton then you might understand--your solos should work with or fit the tune. His kicks are just another guy copying B.B. ( who I sat on his tour bus with ) and Albert.

  • @bluesatbirth for someone with your long

exp. w/ blues people, I am surprised u couldd

reach such a conclusion. I don't like Larry

Carlton at all but do dig Coryell and Charlie

Byrd. But this is way OT. I too have had sit

downs and -ins with many a luminary, Ultimately, it

comes down to personal taste and I think

you've heard the majority's opinion on this

    page.

  • wow...u had beers with those guys!

wow...u sat on BB's tour bus & Alberts!

OMG...can I have your autograph? jr could

run circles around most players. I would

not piss on you if u were on fire...

  • @BluesGeek Your last comment just proves just how immature you are.

  • @bluesatbirth Everything that can be said on guitar has been said already. What s left is to offer different interpretations. modern blues players often play in the style of a recognizable artist playing the whole tune in character -if you use this clip to judge him you've missed the point. His style is beyond what a lot of the older guys were ever capable of technically. to shrug off Watson as "just another guy copying BB" doesn't reflect well upon your depth, because clearly he's not.

  • LOL you funny.

  • is that a gibson goldtop?

  • @TheDancingSaxophone no man; it's a "lawsuit" era copy from Japan's Tokai made anywhere from '78 or so to '82 or '3. I believe it's one of the rarer models with an all gold neck. Jr. had a guy refin the headstock w/ the logo and all details. Tokai's from that era are excellent guitars as both Gibson and Fender acknowledged at the time. Google lawsuit Tokai.

  • @Fatshead Cool, thanks for the info!

  • love Junior and really love this particular solo!!!

  • Thank you Carsten for uploading the best backingband Junior´s ever had!

  • I know you can't debat over "best" within music, but i can say from all blues artists I enjoy Junior Watson the most.

  • Junior is da Man!

  • Tough!

  • the best!

  • awesome!

  • Thank you so much for uploading Watson!!
