Is it just me, or does Gail look like she has "bed head?" Mighta been smoochin with the WB's back stage. My teenaged sister used to get me to stay home with her and watch Shindig and Where the Action is, from nursery school. Is that Terri Garr, the short haired blonde? I was five then. I remember hearing We'll Sing in the Sunshine on my daddy's car radio, a convertible Nash Rambler.
See kids! Grandma & Grandpa could really have fun in our day! The girls wenern't making fun of Hullaballo we really did dance that way. You try it you'll loose a least 5 pounds of water weight. We would dance like this for hours at a time. No one was fat. LOL
Oh my god - that is so awesome at the end - how that chick picks up the little guy singing - I was thinking how tiny he was the whole time, and that just totally cracked me up! Classic...
I'm confused - I know the Exciters sing that song Tell Him, but the announcer doesn't say the Exciters, does he? And that is definitely Darlene Love singing - but she wasn't in the Exciters, was she? Anyone....
Toni Basil (Hey Micky You're So Fine!) also danced on the show its entire run, in fact the asst. choreographer. You can see her in a lot of these Shindig! videos. I don't think she's in this one, though. It's amazing how many later-on big names were on the Shindig! crew!
Gale Garnett really had a great voice. Read somewhere she was only nineteen when she wrote/recorded this song. Jimmy O'Neill was THE dj during this period. Many tried to imitate him I recall when he wa in the Omaha market during the 70/80's, still smooooothe. For some reason I'm hungry for cheese. Gotta hit the 'fridge. Hope we've got some Velveeta, in tribute to Elvis.
LOL.. I like at about 25 seconds the girls dancing shape their heads like the dances in the intro of HULLABALLOO. I was wondering if they were making fun of them or it was a challenge.
By this time of this third telecast, "SHINDIG!" was the "buzz" among teenagers everywhere- even though "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" on CBS was the #1 show in the same time period [8:30pm(et)], there were more kids watching this than the third half-hour of NBC's "THE VIRGINIAN". The first sponsor I.D. and opening commercial is missing from this kinescope, but the middle commercial for the American Dairy Association, at 6:16 {"Cheer For Cheese!"}, is intact...
i am totally digging shindig...seems like some lipsyncs but a lot of live voices too...the gale garnett song has haunted me for 40+ years and im so glad to find it here
Never heard this from anyone but Roy Orbison. Was this Jerry Cole version a cover? With his voice and about ten thousand bucks, he got to sing this on Shindig!
CHEER FOR CHEESE! like some of the acts!

Who is the skinny geek singing "Pretty Woman"?
chenarch 1 year ago
@chenarch He's not to perty, but he sure looks like he believes what he's singing. Kind of appealing when someone knows how to emote.

The blonde dancer with the glasses guest starred on an episode of THE PATTY DUKE SHOW during the final (1965-66) season.

The girls couldn't make fun of HULLABALOO because this Shindig episode was aired in September 1964, and Hullabaloo series ran from January 1965.

@CanadaguyRudey No, it was the thing to do to look "amazed and surprised plus excited." It was the time, a cultural explosion was happening.
