Its my M3 in this video and in my registration papers it weighs 1680 kg. (3700 lbs) I dont know if its the correct weight but I think it should be a little heavier than a normally equipped M3 cause mine has a lot of extras?

and we all know that all you have to do is chip the e46 m3 with an intake system, say gruppeM, not even with an exhaust system and it will beat an rs4 which is very poor on audi's part. i mean 4.2 v8 and the e46 m3 kept up pretty well, plus the audi couldnt cath the m3 at the end down the single carrigeway could he? if the audi was that fast then he would have caught him up!

Just calculete. audi weight 1650 kg have 420hp 4.2l. bmw 3.2l 343hp and weight 1570kg. Audi only 80 kg havier, but 1 liter of displacement and 77 hp. and dont forget about bmw e46 m3 is from 2001. audi rs4 2005.

BMW M3 3,415 lbs - 0.10 hp/lbs

So the power to weight ratios are essentially identical, thus the race was pretty close. And while you might cry about the displacement discrepancy, I'll cry about the massive mass difference and the ability of the M3 engine to rev much higher than RS4's V8. So at the end of the day, I take my hat down for both cars, but in my mind, RS4 is still more impressive.

I sent you the link in your messages. I have the coupe and that is the model we are referring to. Noone referrs to the cabrio without saying it. The cabrios are always heavier than their hardtop equivalents,but Im sure you know that. However I seriously doubt it adds 1200lbs but ill look into that.

your m3 softtop weighs 3770lbs, if your seeing 4630lbs on a sticker somewhere on there, its probably maximum total weight capacity, not the weight of the car

I looked at the sticker in the door of my m3 and it shows the gross vehicle weight which is the curb weight plus the maximum combined occupancy and luggage capacity. Mine says 4453lbs and the max occupancy weight is 1032lbs. subtract that from the gross weight and you get 3421lbs ( the curb weight of the car).

i just explained that, its the Gross Vehicle Weight. Which is the weight of the vehicle plus the maximum weight it can carry. If you look again at the sticker there should be another number for the max weight load. All you have to do is subtract that max weight load from the gross vehicle weight to get the curb weight of the car itself. The front and back weights just show the distribution under max load
