Every track recorded over the last 20 + years can be split down.

If you remember there used to the phase 24 track or 48 track, it means all the instruments,vocals, backing vocals samples (if any) are all recorded on seprate tracks & can be added or removed at any time in the studio.

Remember some of the old 12" singles from back in the 90's used to have instrumentals & aacapella's on them as well as the track inself.

It's ideal for when DJ's / Producers do remixs & need to add/remove bits.

@panjab2000 Yes but you can't just do it from an MP3 or WAV. You can piss around with inverted phase but that will take ages and doesn't always work, one other problem is for that is that you'd need an instrumental version.

I meant that the singer, DJ's & Producers can use what they want as everything is recorded on seprate tracks in the studio, so if a dj is doing a official remix, he will be given everything on a cart ( i think) and then can take out certain elements & replace them with what he wants. Same with a PA, Mariah will have it on a DAT rather then a CD to be played out when she's performing like above.Her part is live, the backing vocals r on a DAT. It's just timeing

@notoriousjaye Mariah or any other artiste just has to make sure that they get the timeing right for the backing vocals or any other sound they have playing at the same time, like a sample or intro to a track.

It's something they sort out in rehersals / practice.

The bit about 12" was just a example I used to explain the fact you have the track, the instrumental & the vocals on a 12" is quite easy as it's all on seprate tracks when it's get recorded in the studio.

In addition to that, she didn't take propper care of her voice, abused alcohol and who knows what else. Add heavy pAArtying and not sleeping to the list and it's almost a miracle that she can even still talk. She needs to quit that bitch for good 10+ years, keep quiet and have a couple of babies in the meantime. Then, perhaps, she might be ready for a comeback.

No, the begging is pre-recorded. You can hear her voice coming in at 0:22,0:26, then at 0:31 it comes in fully for her to make a attempt to whistle, when she doesn't. It is then turned down for the track to keep going on - at 2:21 her voice comes in again. The rest is fully lipped.

Its actually very simple to do a partially lip-synced performance. Ever heard of rehearsal? If you rehearse you wont miss your 'cue' its not a criticism just fact. And by the way watch the Teen Choice Performance of "Lovin U Long Time" she missesher cue at one point on it. When the mic is away from her face the vocals begin and she misses it. Doesnt mean anything its but lots of artists dont always have time to do live performances they need to be "in and out" so to speak.
