  • this scene was so goddamn horrible, I was afraid of hospitals as a kid.

Thought it was full of people ripped to shreds like Murphy.

  • Who would let their impressionable child watch a movie that's rated "R?"

  • @pyroteque One who's ascertained that their child can distinguish between fiction and reality and refuses to allow the MPAA's arbitrary ratings system parent their child for them?

  • this is the scene that lobotomized me. I could watch everything after this

  • Its the Emil in acid near the end that fucked me up for years, as I watched for the first time as a 8 yr old. Suprisingly the Murphy death didnt traumatize me. I

  • No human deserves to live like this.

  • This scene fucked me up as a kid. Apparently i'm not alone on that lol

  • Murphy, it's you!

  • I've seen this first when I was 3, haven't seen a more dramatic death yet. Terminator 2 doesn't count.

  • Those horns at 1:33 just give me the chills.

  • Still one of the most graphic and traumatising scenes ever i'd say - but excellent, of course. In my opinion nothing has ever come close to this in terms of sheer gruesomeness or raw emotive drama - CGI can go and choke itself. The shot of his motionless eyes is what always did it for me, I kind of curse my dad for letting me watch it at such a young age as it did screw me up quite a lot, and took me years before i could watch it again. It's now one of top 10 films ever.

  • I never saw this scene my dad just held his hands over my eyes

  • The E.R. didn't bother me as a kid but now that I'm all grown up I can understand and even fear what he's going through as he's dying and remembering everything before he died. Creepy.

  • Im only 11 and got this last christmas not the one in 2010 the one in 2009 its so gorey nothin gorey i have ever seen... Like i watch Zombie movies with gore and Dead Space but this movie is much gorey than anything else huh i guess my dad tihnks i love gore -shrugs- BUT NOT THIS KIND OF GORE!! IT ALMOST MADE ME VOMIT but i still watched the movie... :/

  • @ytf8tf8 that's good, I felt the same way at your age, I liked action violence but I felt that gorey stuff was just distasteful. now I'm fairly indifference to most movie and videogame violence, but still something should strike a note with you. This scene was made to give you that discomfort so you would feel emotionally connected to Murphy and resentful of the men who kill him so when Robocop realizes his identity you can be glad about him getting revenge

  • @iknowmy3table Thats what i felt to

  • this scene just made me want to jump in and go john wayne on all their asses

  • Fantastic Soundtrack. So emotional, hopeless and tragic. Basil P. was one of the best Composer of all Time.

  • @Thorncross I agree. Very powerful.

  • This was a bloody and amazing movie, I saw this really young also, 4 or 5 yrs old. But I also saw aliens /predator (all the arnold movies), the thing, event horizon, etc when i was young. Event horizon shouldn't be watched by young children I was so scared to watch that movie until the other month, kind've funny now :D.

  • i think every1 who watched this as a kid is traumatized

  • @firebird960

    u got that right

  • @firebird960 that robot ed 209 scares me like hell

  • This seen was indeed traumatizing. I had seen a few R rated films as a kid at that ;point, but nothing like this. I still don't know why such violence is interesting to watch or to make a movie out of.

  • I watched this when I was 10. Now whenever I think of RoboCop, I can always hear him screaming :O

  • @teh1337street Yeah just hope people with a dramatic.. life style.. and personality like you get shot the same way as murphy did.

  • even a meathead can't survive being shot like that right?

  • "Can U Do that Dad !!?"

    "I Really have 2 Tell U Something !!"

  • Thanks a lot for uploading!

One of the most grabbing scenes of this fantastic movie.

This is probably what it's like to die...

  • saw this one on tv when i was little

  • BIG MISTAKE. Paramedics doe not revive victims that have been shot in the head. Once the victem is shot in the head, they cannot be revived, also real paramedics must wear latex gloves at all times.

  • @TheCharacterActor

Yeah, but he still had a pulse. And since he was still breathing, and was shot in the very left part of the head, they probably thought his brain wasn't damaged, or something. You know the stories, right? Where that guy shot his wife in the head, and she has nothing right now. Living like nothing happened (her husband's in jail though)

Though the gloves thing was just a glitch. A minor setback. :P

  • @TheCharacterActor Well I've been shot in the head plenty of times and thanks to those non latex wearing paramedics and I've always survived, once I even woke up with a robotic body!

  • so good.

  • After seeing this scene as a kid, I was never the same.

  • agreed, that scene traumatized me, Pau Verhoeven said that he wanted to depict "Satan killing Jesus"

  • @nobodysperfect06

    He achieved that for sure.

  • I hope the Robocop remake, or reboot, not sure what it is, is rated R and not PG-13, because I want Murphy's death scene to be faithful to the original

  • @nobodysperfect06 Why would you even watch the reboot ?

  • because i'm a Robocop fan

  • @nobodysperfect06 do you have a link to that interview?

  • he said that in the Robocop 20th anniversary DVD in the special features section, on the making of Robocop

  • oh, fucking crazy

  • @nobodysperfect06 thats messed up!

  • @JohnPriceification, messed up as in Blasphemy? Sinning?

  • @nobodysperfect06 no its just a weird way of thinking but it worked 4 him.its the most brutal death scene ive ever seen

  • @JohnPriceification well, thats what Paul Verhoeven said in the DVD Behind-the-Scenes featurette on the 20th anniversary edition, hard to believe this year is the movie's 25th anniversary

  • @Rabarberskurk Same here...

  • @Rabarberskurk

    Yes, mee too.

  • Hmmm, He doesn;t seem to have eyebrows
