  • Next time don't forget to play a bit so we get to hear the sound too!

  • will it affect the sound of the guitar if the melted solder wires melt onto each other?

  • @rkey16 Yes, it will as you may short the circuit

  • Sweet video! I'm getting my PRS changed tomorrow with new Seymour Duncans!

  • im looking to get these installed in my Laguna, but i almost always see them getting put into Les Pauls, I just want to know, can these things get a hard rock tone? are they good for rock soloing?? nice vid btw

  • @GuitarLordChels Yup, these pickups were designed for Jeff Beck and Seymour Duncan uses them too. Metallica used to use them and Dave Mustaine's Livewire pickups are based on these hot rodded pickups.

  • @GuitarLordChels thxs man, they sound awesome sence i got them installed. ill have to make a video for you guys

  • thanks for watching, have an ice tea (:

  • how do you install the new pickup in that old pickup plastic mouting ring guard , i accidently screwed the two machine screws with springs which hold the pickup in that plastic guard i can't put the screws back in with the springs how do you do that?

  • @blew198 My screws were still okay so they had no problem with the pickup.

  • @shazlig when you are changing the old pickup from the pickup plastic guard and installing the new one's in it , as the new pickups don't come with those you have to install it in that lespaul pickup guard, how do you do that?

  • @blew198 I just followed how the original pickup was installed in the pickup ring. The new pickups came with the long screws and spring so I just used those.

  • I think i know wich DiMazio PU´s where in there .....

Go on the Dimarzio Website and search under news for "Premier Guitar feature"

The first Question should awnser yours too ;)

  • YAY im going to malaysia this holidays

  • what guitar is that?

  • @ravenshield56 It is a very cheap Onyx Les Paul copy

  • hey shaglig, i live in kl, malaysia too. wanna ask how much u got the set for in ringgit? and where u get it.

  • @allstarz69z I got these sets in US but you can get it at Bentley's or The Guitar Store

  • Damn, did you burn up any of the potentiometers?

  • @The1970sInfatuate The guitar was still making noise at the end of this exercise so they should be ok.

  • @shazlig Yeah, most likely. You still have to be quick with all the soldering though. The iron has to be good and hot for the solder to melt fast. You just put small dabs of solder on the potentiometer lugs and connect the wires and quickly remove the iron from the part to avoid burning it. Sometimes if you're soldering ground wires to the back of pots, it is helpful to scuff up the metal surface. It helps the solder adhere better to have a rough surface.

  • Very nice video, thanks :).

  • Very nice tutorial! I need to ask you though, what did you do with the red and white cables? I understand you soldered the rest there where you unsoldered the old one, but what about these two?

  • @furyfueled I just taped them together.

  • I put that pickups on Ibanez RG 320

  • @GFYrapcore Yo im about to put mine into an RG 120, did it work well for you? Was it a noticeable improvement over the stock pickups? Please reply =) I already bought the JB

  • "Hi Welcome to my veedeo on reblacing my gitar peekups"... classic.

  • what Dimarzio pickups were there?

  • @ChineseR0ck - Hmmm, I still don't know .... yet. But I am still searching.

  • So much easier (and safer for your guitar finish) if you took those strings off man. Not worth the trouble for the cost of strings.

  • how much does a soldering iron cost i need to get one to replace pickups

  • @Metallicaforever95 - I live in Malaysia so the prices may differ. But soldering irons are quite cheap.

  • @Metallicaforever95 To tell you the truth, don't buy cheapass tools. I bought a 30W soldering iron for like $4 and it's complete shit. Save up and invest in a Weller soldering station with a temperature regulator. Well worth it :)

  • @Metallicaforever95

They are cheap...... £10 to £15 google it

  • @SlashNSnow Thanks!

  • Fit the neck PUP first on a Les Paul.

  • Nice video. Im getting a JB for my birthday to install on my G-400.

  • Hey weerpool. The electric guitar is built differently then an acoustic guitar as acoustic guitars are chambered so that the sound can resonate. You should get an acoustic guitar.

  • or you can get piezo pickups installed under your bridge but they are expensive. I recommend RMC brand if you are interested.

  • hey man im in a fairly heavy band i wouldnt say metal but definitely heavy maybe hardcoreish. Anyways i have an Epiphone Sg and im thinking about putting a seymour duncan bridge pickup in it. Do you have a recommendation on which one i should get?

  • hey dude. It really depends on what tone you're looking for. A JB can do the job just fine. A heavier one would be a SH-6 Distortion or Dimebucker but those doesn't have a good clean tone.

Personally, I would check out the Blackouts active humbuckers cos they've got great tones and no noise.

  • well i know two of the bands i really like us JB's (Underoath, Every time i die) I'm not sure if you know of those bands. But i heavier sound but not straight up metal. ill look up videos of those pickups you suggested

  • hey brother, Seymour Duncan Invader will sound tight in the bridge, youll get that punchy, epic, Lamb of God like tone

  • I have an SG copy made by Austin that I want to replace the cheap stock pickups in.

    Are these a good choice?

  • Depends on what tone you are looking for but personally I would say Yes. The bridge pickup is clear, slightly hot (great for hard rock or metal) but the playing with the volume or switching to the neck pickup will cool the tone ( for rock sounds).

  • perfect choice,man!

  • Hi bro, I'm a Epiphone SG user from Msia also. Wanna ask you if JB/Jazz or JB/59 would be a better choice. How much did you get them?

  • Hey bro. I can't say as I've never tried the 59's although I would suspect they would have less output. I got my pickups in the states but I would suspect the pickups would be around RM 400 each.

  • Those DiMarzio's look like super distortions.

  • Thanks. I'll check out some DiMarzio videos to compare.

  • could you be able to get a good metal sound out of the jb bridge pickup

  • Sure thing. Dave Mustaine and James Hetfield used them in their earlier years.

  • i have an epiphone special sg

    should i get those pickups?

    or get a new guitar?

  • I would change the pickups. It'll sound like a brand new guitar.

  • one thing you should've done or showed if you done it is that you prime the wires with some solder beforehand so it will be a tighter connection

  • Yup, good call. Priming the wires definitely helps organising the underlying conductor wires

  • could you replace the guitars pickups with any pickups

  • Should be, as long as they're humbucker size.

  • What Did You Do With The Old Pick-Ups?Are You Gonna Make A New Guitar?

  • I'm keeping them just in case.

  • what company makes that les paul copy? It looks great

  • The guitar is from Epiphone.

  • Sorry, got confused with another guitar. The brand says Onyx. I got it from a second hand store many years ago.

  • dude thanks alot for this little video, this clears alot of things up for me. I have the very same set of pickups but i've been puttin it off cause i didn't wanna hurt anything lol. Thanks again =]

  • Wow, thank you for the step by step lesson!!

Man, I could have installed my JB SH-4 myself tonight after watching this video and following the guide...

    Dm

  • YEA MAN!jazz and JB are still the bet choice when it comes to guitars like your les paul!

  • great pickups !

    awsome video ;)

  • Cool! Thanks for sharing.
