@Gourmeticainsularis1 No, in the game the only way to beat the truly powerful enemies is to include some form of light. Light weakens them so flash bangs, flares, flashlights are all important to have when fighting multiple enemies or bosses.

Great mechanic in the game and not over used, made for some truly epic fights when 10 different guys are trying to hack your head off with axes, etc.

Iff you paid attention in Alan Wake towards the end where Alan meets Scratch, Tom says he is Mr. {Scratching sand paper noise} So instead of saying Mr. Sand Paper Noise Scratching they call him Mr. Scratch, like in Powerpuff Girls that gay devil is Him or Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill.

There was actually a clue in Alan Wake that revealed we would see more of Mr Scratch. The second to last cutscene in the game (where you see the duplicate you and Zane says to use the clicker and defeat the darkness once and for all) is titled Mr Scratch on the list of cutscenes
