  • actually forestry is better now then it was a while ago the regulation on replanting trees is much better

  • Harper is a traitor to democracy freedom liberty justice and should be hanging from a barbed wire noose

  • Those F35 jets that Harper bought are powered by single engines so if a jet stops in the middle of nowhere in the arctic, the pilot is screwed.

  • @projectdurden You do realize most fighter jets are single engine right?

  • @Apophis150 sure, infact single engine jets are lighter and in many ways better, however, for long range purposes, like flying in the arctic, you might want a second engine. chances of surviving up there are almost zero, even if the pilot ejects safely. he has about a 2-3 hour window depending on where he lands. if he lands in the water, he will probably die for sure. so basically their lives depend on one engine and this jet already has a poor safety record.

  • @projectdurden They also cost 30 billion dollars..

  • thank u for my great belly laugh from this video. will share widely now hahah. yup I am one radically different Women for sure as I do all things in this video says. haha. thank u whomevr made this video? u pretty much described the amny here in Alberta for sure!!!. I like it.

  • trololololololol, damn concerned citizens. how dare they stand up and point out things that should be so logical that the thought of defying them should be itself unthinkable - let alone mandated by an organization that is suppose to be representative of the people

  • I have a degree in Environmental Studies... I work in a job many would consider 'environmentalism" - saving organizations millions of dollars on their energy bills... I earn an above average income... Collecting welfare... Me thinks not!

  • Sounds like Sun "News" Network...

  • Seeing as I'm from 34 miles north of Kitimat, my questions to all the people who want the pipeline to go through are 1) where are you from? 2) have you even seen what you want to destroy? and 3) who the unholy hell gave YOU the right to inflict your mega-projects on residents who don't want them?

I'm a hunter, a fisherman, and have about as much use for Green Peace and the Sierra Clubas I do for your lot. In short, I'm just a regular guy who just wants you to stay the hell out of my house.

  • @blorgensteen 1: prince George

2: i live outside city limits, i hunt every season, i love the wilderness

3: my love of money, the pipeline would have brought more money into Canada thus an economic boost. environmentalists do NOTHING for Canada except for keep it as a 3rd rate power in this world

  • @nilloc93 Prince George? My condolenses you're from Prince George. I lived in Tumbler Ridge for a few years. I'm a Newfoundlander.

Environmentalists are not evil people. Is it really that bad if I enjoy Horticulturalism? A tree spent 100 years to grow, am I the only one who thinks it's shameful to cut it down for no reason? I go out in the morning and put bird seed out, if trees are gone so are the birds. Yes, developement and what have you are necessary, and we shouldn't be..

  • @nilloc93 ..blocking it for environmental worries of a pipeline, assuming it was built properly and won't explode. The amount of room it would need is miniscule and you could use the trees to make paper or whatever. And for christ's sakes we shouldn't be trading Oil with China as long as they keep up their human rights supression, we're just encouraging it. But you can be sure it isn't environmentalists keeping out economy down, but the lack of population spread over millions of acres.

  • @TheRimDoctor money is money, moral government can come after we rise to what we were during WW2.

and its not like the US is a shining example of the moral high ground in the world.

That 100 year old tree is not chopped down for no reason, its chopped down so i can expand my tool shed, i'm also not saying chop down all the trees, if you have ever been to PG you would see that we have the perfect system, we have forests inside of our city, its brilliant.

You are right about the population thing

  • @nilloc93 I have been. Not a huge fan of the city though, bad demographic from some of what I saw. It's as far South in British Columbia I've ever been, but up in Northern BC around Chetwynd and Dawson Creek They clearcut hectares of trees down all the time For the mills instead of using a more enviromentally undisturbing method. Drives the Deer, Mountain Lions, and bears into town.

  • @TheRimDoctor what would be better? randomly cutting tree sections? they used to do that, it kills forests.

  • @nilloc93 I would say selective cutting.

Or at least do that in forests it won't kill the other trees (ie Don't Do it in a Douglas Fir forest)

  • @nilloc93 But I'm not against clearcutting, only against clearcutting that kills forests, Like cutting down more forest than they leave up, which for some unfathomable reason they do up here. It isn't sustainable and will just kill off whatever trees they didn't cut down.

  • @TheRimDoctor they replant what they cut down......

  • @nilloc93 They have yet to replant most of the area. Nearest re-planting of Trees to Tumbler Ridge is an hour and a half away towards Grande Prairie. And that was done by the tree planters who don't shower.

  • @TheRimDoctor then phone the Canada forest agency or whatever its called.

  • @nilloc93 They care even less than you do. Particularly in BC since it's Provincally funded, and they can't even afford to fund Education.

  • It's parody and satire guys... RELAX

  • @tomuchbabble It's obvious that you have too much time on your hands ( yes too, not to ).

Question for you. Did you shed any blood, sweat or tears today to provide for yourself, family and country or did you just sit in front of a computer accomplishing nothing?

You must has stewed all afternoon to produce those 3 little shit nuggets that mean absolutely nothing in the real world or to me. All the while the rest of us card carrying Conservatives worked our asses and paid taxes so as to k

  • @behrlock Do you bleed and cry at work everyday? Might be time to find a new profession. Oddly enough the real world is a lot more than working and paying taxes... which everyone does, so get off the high horse.

  • @behrlock You should reply to posting, I had to look to see what you were on about.

YOU said to me."Did you shed any blood, sweat or tears today" What kind of stupid comment is that. Conservatives worked their ass off to put a CLOWN in power. A right wing religious nutter disrespected by 191 countries and the US president. You prove a point I make a lot, conservatives and republicans NEVER have anything intelligent to say. Don't confuse the right with facts.Support babbleing with reason.

  • @behrlock Come on, you tell me WHY conservatives are'nt Idiots, I've gone through this before, You'll rage curse and make worthless statements and I'll reply with facts,

You'll just say I'm stupid but won't give anything except repeating what criminal Harper and his cronnies say. I'll decide not to waste my time on a dictators puppet and say so.

Then you'll send some nonsensicle insult with hahaha attached to it. So lets save time,

Your brilliant, How could I argue such intelligent posts.

  • @cscarnage Interesting. Today I learned "ideals good in theory" = "scum". I had no idea those were synonymous.

  • @balthcat Correct

  • @cscarnage My previous reply remains pertinent.

  • @balthcat Your moms vag remains pertinent on my cock.

  • @cscarnage That's some high quality stuff there.

  • @cscarnage Is that you, PM Harper?? I didn't realize that you trolled the 'net to rebuke the intelligent... er, I mean"insurgents".

  • @BarbaraJD Yep its me.

Oh wait. There isn't much of a difference at all between the Liberals and Conservatives.

But it gives people like you something to obsess over.

  • I feel that the media has muddled the statement the gov't made about the hearing being "hijacked by radicals". It has been proven that certain US environmental groups (Sierra Club) have been funding Canadian First Nations and environmental groups to deliberately stall the talks and delay the Northern Gateway pipeline. This is not for the sake of the environment, but an attempt to keep Canadian oil flowing almost entirely to the U.S. I feel that diversifying trade away from the U.S is good.

  • @Forlyn0 No one responded to your post. It contained too much truth.

  • @Forlyn0 You do realise that US environmental groups are indeed stalling the talks and delaying the pipeline *for the environment*, because they are *environmental groups*. If Canadian environmental groups were taking BIG OIL money to ensure oil flows to the US, then your argument might not be *completely stupid*.

  • @balthcat They're funded by Communist China so Canada's crude goes there instead.

  • @cscarnage You're an idiot.

  • @balthcat He's no Idiot, China invested 5 Billion in tar sands, Stephen Harper went to China to see about selling oil there.

  • @tomuchbabble He's talking about American environmental groups in the USA.

  • @balthcat 111 enviromental groups in US

most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States . ... The Sierra Club has hundreds of thousands of members in chapters located ...

  • @balthcat There are some flaws in your statement which 500 characters would not allow me to properly address, but let me get back to the main argument. It would be fine to allow these talks to proceed normally however the problem at hand is this supposed "hi-jacking" which seeks to derail meaningful dialogue in place of merely jamming as much people as possible to speak at the conference whose concerns would be addressed as the project proceeds. ( American interests at play or not )

  • @Forlyn0 Your mistake is believing that meaningful dialogue takes place, and is taken into account, when "the economy" is the issue, and corporate interests have their fingers in the pie. That is precisely why filibuster-style tactics are needed, and legitimate, in a case like this. The government must be made aware that people are upset enough to throw themselves in the gears.

  • @balthcat I didn't quite understand your reply until I watched a video you've seen recently (CBC Showdown: Sierra Club vs "Ethical Oil") After seeing this I believe your opinion is entirely justified. However after this debate I hope that there is a compromise reached that will protect the environment while allowing the pipeline through less environmentally sensitive areas.

  • @Forlyn0 My opinion on the current government's complete disregard for the environment predates that video. Harper has systematically sabotage environmental science, climate science, and science generally, since Day 1.

  • @balthcat Good point, he also lies about impact.1990 to 2010 emmisions have increased in Canada by 276% from tar sands.

“When it comes to the tar sands, Enbridge is Canada’s pusher, pumping dirty oil through unreliable pipelines which are bound to spill,” said Taylor Flook, an organizer with Environmental Justice Toronto. “Averaging at 61 leaks per year for the past 10 years, Enbridge is celebrating over 600 leaks and breaks Enbridge pipelines are too risky.”

  • @tomuchbabble Harper and obama have to everything the same/ as Canada can't be different? albert's largest oil spill ever last year and destroyed 1/3 of the athabasca, and a brand new mine is opening soon, already approved and going threw now. we know politicians just do what they want to, as not enough people turn-out to vote???

  • @ederoose U.S Congressional Republicans are urging President Barack Obama to back the Keystone XL pipeline are working on plans to take the reins of approval from the hands of the president should he say no. Republicans dealt Obama the third in a string of defeats on stimulus jobs, blocking $60 billion for building and repairing infrastructure .But Republicans unanimously opposed it for its tax surcharge on the WEALTHY and spending totals they said were too high. Repubs bached by Murdoch Media.

  • @ederoose • Dominionism describes, in several distinct ways, a tendency among some conservative politically-active Christians, especially in the United States of America, to seek influence or control over secular civil government through political action — aiming either at a nation governed by Christians, or a nation governed by a conservative Christian understanding of biblical law. Republicans,Stephen Harper,Isreal,

Religious Right wing Idealists, republicans want Iran war.

  • @ederoose The Reich-Wing Republican Joke Page

    "50 SILLY REPUBLICAN/CONSERVATIVE QUOTES"

Look this up, these people really should'nt be left in charge of a lemon aid stand: )

  • @balthcat The liberals spent 3 months doing nothing about the environment, Stephen Harper did nothing about the environment in just 2 days.

  • @Capitanvolume Unfortunately Harper does do things about... er, TO the environment :(

  • Can't tell if most commenters are severely humor-impaired or if they just can't help ranting. I've never seen Rick Mercer before, but it only takes a few seconds to take in the many prompts that tell us this is satire, as in Colbert, yes? Revealing the underlying absurdity and dangerous short-sightedness of those who argue on behalf of the extractors by showing us their positions with only slight exaggeration and tilt.

  • My mommy said to just make diesel out of them peanuts and be done with the whole shootin match already.

  • Brilliant!

  • Canada is a country that is one of the least hit by recession. Unfortunately for leaf lickers and tree huggers, we have no choice but to harvest and export our resources or we will no longer be a safe haven for foreign investment.

Simple economics 101. A country must export more than import. Or make more $cratch than it spends.

  • Comment removed

  • @behrlock That's assuming we want the economics system to keep kicking around...

  • @behrlock Its TREE huggers, scientist, ecologists, Enviormentalists that push for replanting and responceable manegment of resourses instead of the right thinking of unqualified and uneducated people getting rich excelerating global warming and with MURDOCH media such as FOX "news" Has people posting Idiotic things with NOTHING

supporting these WORDS. Balanced trade is stability, If every country exported more than imported, export 3 import 2 where does the 1 left go. economics 101 page 2

  • @tomuchbabble and YES again.

  • @behrlock Canada was #1 in the world but the conservatives, religiouse right don't beleive in science, 4 years ago numb nuts Harper said global warming was a made up conspiracy by scientists. We are now #5 and dropping fast because we have a corrupt Idiot running Canada, pro privatization, anti science loon giveing out appointments to his ass kissing buddies why'll cutting jobs, lying, deceiving.

  • @tomuchbabble YES!

  • @behrlock Canada's Rising GHG Emissions and No Plan

Most troubling is the lack of a coherent, science-based plan for Canada. There are no caps on industrial emissions, - Canadian emissions will continue to rise.

Over the past year emissions have increased in every sector. 276% increase from mining emissions since 1990. This dramatic increase is non other than the explosion of tar sands development. The Environment Canada Inventory Report states,

  • @behrlock Do to Canada’s unemployment and lack of production jobs we decided to sell conservatives to other world leaders as court jesters. Unfortunately all were returned.

So learning from conservatives we remarketed conservatives as savants with a pay up front no return policy. In this way within a few years these (savont’s) will undermine other governments and drag them down to canada’s level at which time Stephen Harper

Can proclaim his head up butt policy works. : )

  • @tomuchbabble Funny & true. I think too many Canadian conservatives have been tuning in to Fox news & listening to right-wing radio far too much. Canada used to be a country where the liberal party (more liberal than today... today's liberals are more like the pc's of the past) were the natural governing party. Along w. the U.S., we've shifted to the right, & right down the toilet. Forget about: science, peacekeeping, secular gov., & the respect of the rest of the world.

  • @BarbaraJD BIIIIIIG Hug for you, somtimes I think conservatives have chimps on computers that are trained to argue if they see more than 3 lines in a row. : )

  • @behrlock USA TODAY

Cities in 36 states are going "green," mainly by running cars on alternative fuel and installing energy-efficient streetlights and traffic signals, says a survey by the U.S. Conference of Mayors out today.

Less than half, though, have taken tougher steps to require energy-efficient homes and businesses.

The survey, compiling the responses of 134 cities, is the first snapshot of how cities are trying to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions to offset global warming.

  • @behrlock The green house effect and planet Earth

Broadcast Date: Jan. 24, 1984 Climate change is harder to predict. But, as the CB C's P eter K ent shows in this 1984 documentary, it's happening. Carbon dioxide levels in the Earth's atmosphere have been steadily rising, and by the year 2050 the average global temperature may rise by five degrees Celsius due to the greenhouse effect

Now conservative M P P eter K ent supports tar sands con servatives for the 1% and screw the rest.

  • Just look up "Earth First!" to see who these Eco-terrorists are. e.g. They spike trees and when asked what they think about the workers getting killed or severely injured they reply "meh, it's worth it"

  • Comment removed

  • @AH12358

Sure it is likely that groups like this, "Earth First!" are speaking. But so what? There are 400,000 people speaking, far far more than a group like that could possibly muster. To claim that one or a few radical eco group represents the entirety of the opposition to this pipeline is just daft.

  • @Ardnived world.org Shows Top 100 inviromental groups, Top 1000 enviromental web sites, almost all countries have an average of 2 government inviromental groups.

"How America Could Get Rich by Going Green - CBS News" copy and paste line to search could'nt post web site.

"Poll: Majority of Americans Support Federal Investment in Green "

I know, the oppiset can be found. Check out top and bottom of this web page ENE news

What were not told about Fukushima or US nuclear.

  • @AH12358 Please cite an actual example of workers who have been hurt by environmentalists. Until then, your statement has no force.

  • Is anyone else reminded of Kenny Hotz here?

  • @lookitsmyvideo ha, that's awesome. But no, not until you pointed it out. :D

  • Absolutely Brilliant!! This prime minister makes Canada look ridiculous, as Rick so aptly shows.

  • @SaniyaCanada I only wish making us look ridiculous was his worst effect. His leap into the back pocket of the American war industry has changed us from a peace maker to an Imperialist country.

  • wonderful!

  • again, showing ignorance...you do know what that means right ?! my guess, you ave little understanding for anything around you....you went rigt to personal attack, very good...usually means little or no understanding or knowledge for said topic...carry on, your village awaits !!

  • TheAce1082: you are assuming that your job is contributes more to society than someone on welfare. My guess is that there are many people on welfare who contribute more constructively to society than you do.

  • @theace....assuming its just a title, the way you speak leaves lots to be desired....do you always speak with such ignorance ? I mean socially and mentally, you seem very uninformed. Do you read ? pay attention to anything ? or just speak shit ?!

  • Beware of watchdogs

  • @TheAce1082 What on earth makes you think that environmentalists, by and large, do nothing but collect welfare cheques?

For God's sake, what is it with conservatives just going straight for LYING personal attacks, instead of making even a tiny effort to be informed?

  • @BoredomCorner Facts seem to have a liberal bias.

  • @theace1082 You are forgetting the billions we will save when we stop subsidizing the oil sands with tax breaks and overinflated r&d grants. The whole system is a money siphoning machine reminiscent of harris's workfare, only much much grander in scheme.

Im with Brother Alpha on this one, forget about the tar sands. We'll create more jobs for ALL canadians by becoming a green energy production leader. But this government of ours has been bought from the people, for "the man".

  • @thehat2k youre making too much sense for white trash to understand.

  • The economic benefits of sending raw bitumen to other countries for export are overstated. Chinese and Japanese companies are heavily invested in the Northern Gateway pipeline so the "foreign" argument by the Harper government rings less than true. B.C., Alberta and Canada will have to live with the pollution and oil spills so we do have a right to oppose the pipeline and tankers.

  • TheAce1082 posted something spectacularly stupid. That is among the dumbest, poorly thought through, comments I've ever read on the internet, ever, and I remember the birth of the internet. Everything you know about economics & the environment wouldn't fill a thimble.

  • Thank you Rick and your team - sometimes satire is does a better job that all the critical analysis by environmental and economic experts that prove the pipeline would be a disaster!

  • Well the federal government should at least stop subsidizing the oil sands with tax revenue; also they should stop slashing the corporate tax rate it's already dropped significantly. The costs far outweight the benifits when you start polluting air and water it'll effect way more then 30,000 people. It seems the CONservatives are dead set on the craming this pipeline down our throats; however mark my words if such a pipeline is built it's not a good thing for nature which doesn't have a voice.

  • @Squeaks90 with a description like that, you can almost get canada and the states confused =(

  • @MrIonization hey we have to copy states all the time/ instead of being independant, and we governed by a quenn many miles on a different country? and she on our money as well. Monarchy? Can Canada actually exist on their own/ they have never tried, only apologize to the natives and give them money for killing their families. what's up with that???

  • @TheAce1082 David Suzuki collects a welfare check? You could create many more jobs by switching to green energy. And the billions the oil sands create will be dwarfed by the cost of the clean-up.

  • @TheAce1082 hahahaaha thanks for the laugh Cletus. You rednecks think you have the smarts to deal with the leaders of China? They are eating you for breakfast! Alberta bumpkins that have no idea they are taking a huge communist fist up the ass. And the oilsands will just do just fine, actually better, WITHOUT the pipeline. Northern Gateway is the beginning of the end for Canadian jobs on the oilsands, and the final push for Beijing (the Communist Party of China) to completely takeover.

  • @TheAce1082 Looks like you're getting fried up for breakfast here, buddy. Better luck next time! Better to hang out with your fellow C average rednecks... There's lots more to Canada than Conservative propaganda and ignorant self-absorption.. Even Obama gave you a good swift kick in the ass today....LOL
