  • That was just a go-around, nothing to worry about.

  • god bless america

  • cool! microburst!!.. a strong downdraft created in a thunderstorm.. sort of like a tornado in reverse but with no spinning actions... pilots (especially airline pilots) are trained in how to handle them.. they are extremely dangerous to aircraft... wikipedia it on your smart phones, people:)

  • pilots <3 great people.. deserve respect and better pay!

  • @DiamondPilotDan

Mostly the regionals. Starting out at 20k a year is BS especially after the debt you rack up from flight training.

  • @MaroonCamaro believe me i know :P

  • @DiamondPilotDan

Yeah, I'm 50k in the hole just from the flight training. Eventually, it'll pay off. Hopefully.

  • Jetblue pilots wear blue?

  • Whats a micro-burst? A microburst is a very localized column of sinking air. When a plane fly's through one, it first experiences a headwind that gives if lift, then a strong push toward the ground, and finally a tail wind that makes the plane loose airspeed and lift.

  • A microburst is a very localized column of sinking air, producing damaging divergent and straight-line winds at the surface........so pretty much its like going through an invisible tornado

  • There s been a crash at laguardia before because of a microburst...

  • Nice exchange between pilot and passengers. Faith in humanity +1 :)

  • The video description is laughable: "We were just about to land when suddenly the engines roared and went almost vertical back into the sky".

No you didn't. You are just an oversensitive pussy. What actually happened was a "go-around", the captain decided to abort the landing for some reason, perhaps due to weather conditions. This happens ALL THE TIME, is a standard procedure and is neither scary nor dangerous. Next time take the bus.

  • @ryanhaart Go-arounds and windshear escape maneuvers (most likely what was experienced here....) are two totally different things. Until you've experienced one, STFU.

  • @ryanhaart LOL!!!!

  • @ryanhaart To be fair, I think these people had experienced something a little more out of the ordinary than a simple go-around. Although the video doesn't show the pilot saying it, it's clear he mentioned a "microburst", meaning the pilots probably had to execute a windshear escape maneuver. These are can seem fairly radical (for a commercial jet) due to the violent nature of windshear. Furthermore, microbursts pose a very serious threat to aircraft, having caused several crashes in the past.

  • I just made a pretty powerful microburst from my butt.

  • A microburst is lethal to an aircraft.

  • why is a police officer on board the plane? 00:46, left to right down the aisle

  • @juyg7h8yh most airlines have 'security' on board in case of any danger they also have a doctor

  • so did they get you back to Laguardia ? or did you just get off at JFK ?

  • A Microburst is a windshear that can bring an aircraft down in a heartbeat and cause loss of control surfaces.

  • Damn.....that sounds like a great ride!

  • ooops sorry for that

  • Did the guys asking "What's a microburst?" have any Internet access at all? Entering "define: microburst" at Google would have answered their questions sufficiently.

  • Microburst is the worst air incident that a plane can come across. It will come on unexpectedly as a down push of strong air gust which will cause the aircraft to lose altitude very rapidly. The aircraft may drop 1000 ft in a few seconds. If you are at 10000 ft that is OK but if you are in your final approach and are at 1000 ft then you are one more statistic.

  • I learned in class that a microburst has to do with sudden bursts of air blowing down due to pressure changes which can cause i plane to lose altitude very fast and crash if it is near enough to the gound.

  • Hey im in ny! Haha

  • A few years ago I got a flight to Hamburg, but it was to late in the night, so we go down in Hannover :D

  • @HamburgAirport thats ridiculous because i was on a flight at 1:30 AM and went to where we wanted to go.

  • @TheSPARTANkp97 I bet you got a flight to an airport out of the residential area.

But were I want to fly was a city airport. Closed at 11:00PM.

  • @HamburgAirport my flight was from vegas to oklahoma city.

  • @HamburgAirport What a fascinating story- I can't get it out of my head!

  • (above Newyork)

first officer: Sorry guys but because of the weather condition we need to head back to JFK.

    LOL.

  • Realistically, he didn't save your lives. His intention of landing at LGA was foiled by corrupt weather, therefore diverting to JFK was easier. There was no real life-threat there...

  • Whats a micro burst - dont worry people - shut the ***k up. You've paid your money and your alive.

  • Want to see what a Microburst could do to a plane? Type in Delta Flt.191

  • some guys didnt care and just watched movies

  • Sudden plunging of cool air toward the ground.. What makes it so rough is the sudden wind direction change. You first get a strong head wind and cushion effect, pushing you up, so you reduce power then you get slammed toward the ground. but with power reduced that can push into the ground. Then you get a strong tail wind. If your near the ground and do not no what is going on it can be very dangerous

  • Microburst is a fast down movement of wind and the plane will lose attitude fast in a blink of a sec.... its like 5,000 feet to 4,100 feet in a blink.... NASA invented the tech. to detect it.. =)

  • A microburst is a tin can of beans in a microwave oven for ten minutes full power. Don't try it at home.

  • Passenger 1: "What's a microburst?"

Passenger 2: "A fruity candy with a kick!"

  • delta 191

  • Whats a Microburst, Mannn....... You too busy plying angry birds rather than watching air crash investigation on Natgeo! Lol!!!!

  • Did you have to stay on board the aircraft for 8 hours??

  • Microburst ? Delta flight 191, Pan am flight 759, US air 1016.

  • A microburst is a little, itty, bitty, tinee, weeney, bubble that pops out of a microwave. Kinda like popcorn only much smaller.

  • "Saved lives"? I Guess so (Maybe doing there job is more accurate). I saved lives when a traffic light went black and I decided not to barrel through the intersection like it did not exist. I am a hero.

"went almost vertical back into the sky"? What is that like 89º? I didn't know F-15's carried all those passengers.

I am such a dick ... I am going to go back to drinking and mowing my lawn.

  • Passengers: "What's a microburst? What's a microburst?!!"

Pilot: Just google it when you get home!!!

  • Oh COOL!!!! Lucky you to actally experience as a passenger a Airbus A320 going into Alpha Floor mode! Airbus anti stall mechanism :D :D

  • I'd be surprised if they let it get to Alpha floor. The pilots probably just took manual control at the time. Waiting for the computer to react by advancing the throttles would be imprudent if the pilots knew beforehand that they would need a high thrust setting. Alpha floor is just an extra margin of safety for when the pilots unintentionally enter a dangerous angle of attack, and a rapid climb usually doesn't produce that kind of AoA unless the controls are quickly jerked back.

  • @thatBMWkid Thats true, but a Airbus can actually hit alpha floor if there is a crazy windshear to,and the pilots wont be able react fast enough if the windshear happens while plane is on A/P :D

  • Why Jet blue pilots wear blue shirts?

  • @Ryanairpilot95 Jet BLUE?

  • Look up Delta 191 from 26 years ago and you'll learn what a microburst is.

  • I think a microburst is when you get stuck in that tornado sort of thing but you can't visually see it, and when you reach the end of it then you sort of plumet towards the ground which reduces your altitude quite alot to a lower level. A plane crashed because of this before, I saw it on Air Crash Investigation.

  • "what's a microburst? " weell.... how would you explain to a passenger about a phenomenom that would take them from 1000 ft to the ground in 10 seconds... =S

  • jetblue flies into LGA?

  • those poeple are lucky to be alive after a microburst ...those clowns that didnt know know what a microburst is, have no clue how close they came to dieing

  • a microburst is something what pilots not see but mayby a machine does and youfall down really fast and the end i dont remebember it anymore watch air crash investigation!

  • ouch! microburst! good pilot

  • That is sad. What's a microburst?

  • I thought they were still flying when this video was taken, until the end... whoever was filming this must have been scared crapless... hands wouldnt stop shaking.

  • WHAT IS A MICROBURST???? mwhahahahhaa are u fucking serious??? L2 not live under a rock!

  • being a one armed paper hanger myslef, I found that comment very offencive!

  • Microburst are strong winds up too 100mph that cause damage they generally stay in effect fo 5 to 15 minutes

  • a microburst omg!!!!

  • Haha what a pussy pilot. In Soviet Russia microburst lands you!

  • @pubuman because in Soviet Russia people like you don't care about the safety of others.

  • Lol "What's a microburst?"

  • @flyzapva It's a weather phenomenon that causes extreme downdrafts that is hazardous to any aircraft and associated with convective(thunderstorm) activity. Can cause windshear (excessive wind changes in any direction) which can give a headwind and quickly turn into a tailwind and at such a low altitude would most probably result in a hull loss. They usually dont last more than 15 minutes.

  • @flyzapva

Micro burst: is a powerful column of air that shoots out of storm cloud and it can literally slam a low flying plan to the ground.

If an airplane flying in to that in approach speed it wont be flying anymore it will come out of the sky.

  • @flyzapva its a downdraft of air where if a plane gets caught in it, it could crash.

  • @bombtheworldgraff Yes I know what it is. I was referring to the end of the video when everyone says 'What's a Microburst?'

  • @flyzapva

    its a type of dildo!

  • @flyzapva its a mini tornado type thing witch is VERY DEADLY FOR PLANES

  • @atom608 For the love of god I KNOW WHAT A MICROBURST IS!

  • @atom608 What do you mean deadly?

  • Comment removed

  • @flyzapva Dead set are you kidding?

  • @flyzapva ahh that's just another fee we have added on , we charge for weather now.

  • @flyzapva LOL smaller than a macroburst?

  • @flyzapva a sudden down draft of air, can slam a plane down to the ground

  • @jakal1591 OK I'm really fed up getting comments telling me what a microburst is. I know what a microburst is!!! For the last time I was referring to the woman at the end!!!

  • a microburst is when there is a strong updraft where you lose speed then a strong down draft which makes you gain speed and then it makes the plane stall conseqently you crash!

  • An aborted landing at LGA, diverted to JFK? That doesn't make sense

  • @777aircanada

Sure it does. Its 6 nautical miles away, and even though thats close, the weather there can often be quite different than at JFK, especially when you are talking about visibilitiy and/or thunderstorms. Private planes/biz jets, etc often divert from Teterboro,NJ to Newark,Intl and its even closer due to low visibility at Teterboro.

  • @777aircanada It makes complete sense. Even tho those airports are very close to each other, the weather can be totally different at each airport. Plus JFK is jetBlue's base so if the weather is better there they would divert there, it's also easier to get bus service from JFK to LGA then lets say they diverted to Boston instead.

  • @777aircanada Why?

  • @777aircanada Why not?

  • @777aircanada It does if the microburst was on Final at LGA on 4.

  • @777aircanada why wouldn't it make sense? the storm cells were probably over LGA, but at JFK they were experiencing better conditions. And wouldnt you rather divert to JFK from LGA than all the way up north at Stewart? I'd say the pilot made a smart decision to land as soon as possible and in safer conditions

  • @JusticeSevenfold and if there weren't any storms, then the wind or probability of microburst definitely could be experienced at LGA and not JFK.

  • @JusticeSevenfold what is a microburst?

  • @gspfan93 google is ur friend

  • @777aircanada Are these airports like 5 min apart by airplane?

  • @marcodieter100 Yes they are. LGA is actually in Queens NY. Just a quick cab ride to JFK. If you performed an aborted landing a quick turn and you can lock onto JFK's ILS. And if that's not an option because of weather, you have a couple of minutes flying before you can land at Newark Liberty airport.

  • @777aircanada How did they end up at JFK by going almost vertical from LGA? That doesn't make sense.

  • @777aircanada runnway length . lga doesnt have a whole lot of room to work with

  • Microburst, are really dangerous, avoid them at all costs.

  • OMG I would of had a heart attack!!! I had a terrible bad weather landing into JFK...we almost had to divert to Atlantic City they decided not to and we came down through the blackest clouds ever...the plane dropped a few times, I was scared to death!

  • @LouisaOlenick was it spirit airlines but if it was not then it was something else

  • lol im pretty sure there were a lot of those last night

it was raing pretty hard for like 5 hours

  • and this is the reason why I always fly Jetblue ! =]

  • i was on that plane my grand mother passed out i was the first one to get off the plane

  • I'll tell them what a microburst is. It's what took down an Eastern Airlines plane in June of 1975 @ JFK

  • Do all those people really not know what a microburst is?

  • @umassemt11 they're not all meteorologist...

  • @ERAUPRCWA you don't have to be one to know what a microburst is..

  • @umassemt11 do you know what Seepa is? I mean how can you not know what Seepa is? a normal person can't know everything. BTW Seepa is the nerve disorder in which one is insensitive to pain.

  • @ERAUPRCWA the difference is that any TV Meteorologist in any market talks about microbursts multiple times during any given summer season. How often does someone hear the word "Seepa"??

  • I was also on this flight. Immediately before the aborted landing, the plane lurched several times and then dove down in what felt like free-fall for about ten or fifteen seconds or so--which is a lot longer than it sounds (count it out out loud right now: one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, . . . , and imagine plummeting the entire time, thinking that you're about to die in a plane crash).

  • ......aborted landings happen all the time......lol
