  • one of my favorite videos on youtube just wish it ended without "This is really an interesting program"

  • Sure looks ks like Mark knophler playing the violin.?...

  • they threw away the mold after they made Willie--ain't been anyone before or after him that has his musical talent...not saying there aren't other talented people---just that Willie Nelson is SOO VERY UNIQUE...HE MARCHES TO THAT FAMOUS BEAT OF THE DIFFERENT DRUMMER AND WOW WOW WOW ---ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL

  • yes time slips away and people are important and famaily ties are strong.

  • one of the best guitar players ever

saw him in waikiki 10 years ago

  • We're an independent label trying to make it in this game and the best way to do that is by being more known on youtube. One of the ways we stand out is we help unsigned artists get more fans by uploading their songs for a new fan base

You can change our future with one simple click.

Please thumbs up so other people can see this and check out our channel and comment with feedback if you like, also if you think we could improve.

If you like check the other artists we have over 90 vids up!

    Cheers!

  • Not seen Mickey Gilly in a while. what ever happened to him?

  • @hotdog2020 Mickey Gilly was just on "American Pickers" last season. they bought a bunch of stuff from him.

  • Goose bumps on my goose bumps,,,its great to see the other musicians in a trance listening to the great man...

  • four words... we are not worthy.

  • My old mind remembered....Ralph Emery!

  • What is the hosts name? I so danged old that I can't remember. I want this on mp3!

  • It would be very difficult for EVEN WILLIE to top this performance....PURE MAGIC!!!!!!!

  • Saw him in London around 76, something special-I reckon this is the same guitar that's seen a bit more road.

  • @eshewerethin he named his guitar trigger... over 20 years ago... when he got in trouble with the IRS in 91 he was afraid they would auction it... he said if they take trigger, I quit. His daughter took the guitar and sent it to him in Maui and he hid it until he paid his debt off... he still only plays one guitar...

  • @meritz59 Thanks for that, he's a great guitarist and had such a commanding stage presence -a one off.

  • Rare bread of artist. His artistry comes out through the guitar. Yes a difficult piece and arrangement which I am sure many a great artist could play. But... I don't think they can do it with the feeling he produces. It's a very simple song but he plays it gigantic.

  • And He Has That ONE Envious Quality That ONLY THE GREAT HAVE................."HUMILITY!"

  • And the "kick ass" award goes to ... Willie Nelson. What a great song.

  • seen him in epping n.h. 1986.

  • Funny.. I thought he just performed songs. Turns out he is a god of all things good.

  • giutar is an extension of Willie,so effortlessly he plays, wow im just in awe at th solo

  • there a dvd on this show?

  • I love this video... when People ask me who are my favorite guitarist Willie is ALWAYS on my list... and people give me a blank confused stare... I will just let this video do my explaining from now on. I also love the story of how this song was written..but that's a story for another day

  • He probably smoked so much weed so time didn't slip away as fast

  • Favorite:-)

  • Two of the great songwriters of our time Willie and Kris, I vote Willie ahead by a whisker, Crazy over Bobby McGee by the slimest of margins.

  • Just a living legend. Have been fortunate enough to see him live several times over the past 40 years. Once had an autographed cowboy hat that he signed at a concert. Lost it through the years...

  • So beautifully & sensitively performed....Willie really got me good! He can talk through his songs anytime as far as I'm concerned...he has earned the right!!!!

  • He can seem like he's just talking, then in the next moment you are in the middle one of the great songs of all time. So easy and natural it seems simple, but is just damn great and probably profound.

  • when i seen this video three years ago i have said the same also when thay talk about picken i tell them willie as time slips awaye,,?? ya clue less

  • Rheaub2....Couldn't have said it better myself! I was noticing the same things ;)

  • Check out Chuck Norris @ 25 in the background.

  • willie and his old ass guitar! i love this guy

  • awe inspiring

  • I'm mexican, I love country music.

  • in the presence of genius

  • any one know what show this is from ?

  • @amxen1 I want to say that its a special on kera but im not 100% sure

  • hes the best no more words thit it

  • When I saw her, my ex, and we spoke for a few minutes I heard this song playing in the background. Funny How Time Just Slips Away.

  • Genius

  • When you are stoned time slips away.

  • Echoes of Django.

  • Each one of those well experienced song-smiths is a bit misty eyed at the end of that song. A little bit of mist because they will never write a song like that... but more because each one is thinking of the one... the one that slipped away.

  • Willie Know how to put feeling into music , This is true American Made music

  • willies soulful picking most definitely hits the spot

  • @kellynga A mate of mine says: "He plays guitar like he sings…" Maybe it’s that halted phrasing. Magic and unique.

  • I have probably watched this video 50 times . It never gets old.

  • @mws0004 I'm about to catch up with you! I came across it a week or so ago and I'm going to bed late, getting up early and leaving work to get home to see/hear it again and again! Willie Nelson is up there with Hank Williams and Bob Dylan…

  • @mws0004 same here. I'm mesmerized each time; it's like the first!

  • 43 people don't find it funny how time just slips away

  • ty will

  • Good guitar picking there Willie

  • That guitar should be encased and used as his head stone....love you Willie, and thanks for all the music....your a true legend.

  • good but bad?

  • unfrigginbelievable

  • I love how he's surrounded by country legends who are hanging on to his every word and note....

  • @jsnwhite619 I can't agree with you more... just looking at the faces of the legends you see the thought and love in the song through them.

  • That man saved my life.

  • i was listening to some of my friends talk about some "mac miller", so I went and checked him out. boy did it suck... and then I noticed " holy shit" it's got over 13 million views! good lord! and this one only has a little over a million?!?! HOw could someone choose that Wigger piece of shit over something that rushes through you like a new found euphoria? I don't know... but what we need to do is try to expose our youth to REAL music with REAL instruments! THUMBS UP! WHO'S WITH ME!

  • you got to check out brand new single "Mambo Like Columbo" it's hilarious single. it's already been leaked on you tube and its not even been released yet by bullmark records

  • What program is this from exactly? I'd love to find it and watch all of it. At any rate my father got me interested in these country music legends such as Willie and many others. I do enjoy the new stuff, but wonderful songs and moments such as this are just frozen in time. It's good to thaw them out every once in awhile and enjoy them as they were meant to be.

  • you tube has blocked willie and J.cash "Crazy,Willie /Ray Charles" seven spanish angels"....wtf is goin on!!!!!jeeeeeez

  • Not only does the have the heart and soul of a great musicians, if you watch the other fellow musicians in the background, they have tears in their eyes. He reaches your soul with his music and his guitar doesn't play it sings.

  • Willie has all the earmarks of a seminal artist: enormous creative ability, musicianship which transcends genres, phrasing which is unique in american music. Here is a master musician who stands head and shoulders above his peers, witness the others on stage who listen in rapt awe (Kristofferson), abject jealousy (Gilley), unashamed admiration (Waggoner), all of them aware they are in the presence of a giant. The days are dwindling for this super nova; we watch/listen in wonder and delight.

  • @rheaub2 Hear, hear

  • @rheaub2 marry me rheaub2 and we can run away to farm aid together

  • @rheaub2 I so agree, and As musicians we covet new instruments and technology and this simple man, with a simple voice... who has more money than we can ever dream of... plays away on the same guitar he played over 20 years ago... and makes magic... trigger has holes and is nearly worn away in spots but he makes me shiver.... god bless you Willie and trigger...

  • @meritz59 Willie bought that guitar new...I think in 1969 sight unsee it's a martin N-20 classical guitar. I saw it up close once and it was signed right by the sound hole by Ray Benson front man for Asleep at the Wheel one of my favorite bands....anyway I guess he had many differant guitars but when he got his first martin it became his last and he never plays anything else.

  • @MrNappi61 : I actually seen Willie play other Martin guitars after he got Trigger but he doesn't play them as often as he does Trigger .

  • I like Willie as a person and he is a truly great songwriter. But no matter what song it is. Whether Willie wrote it or not. The arrangement he constructs for all of his songs and the music he creates for them always makes each one sound less than they are.

  • Classic song from a classic artist,

  • He killed that guy on monk I'm SURE of it

  • Only a genuinely really nice guy could smile like that. Or a really GREAT actor. I've seen Willie in some films, let's just say "What a bloody NICE GUY he must be"

  • Willie you amaze me. God Bless you, for he blessed us with you.

  • everybody go to as many great concerts as you can, and tune into the performer!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Lene. Glad you found your way to the beauty of REAL MUSIC. Go on ... have a nice happy cry . This one's for you Baby.

  • A Master at work. Like the other Masters who are witnessing this, I find it hard to watch , without starting to cry.(I'm a Big Tough Guy B.T.W.) I believe that is the main thing exercising ol' Kris and most of 'em here, trying not to bubble-up with tears... That and trying not to start singing along and spoiling it. Beautiful.

  • Just look at how much this performance moves the other guys on the stage. Watch them and look at their expressions. There is real feeling to this that goes beyond singing technicalities and marketing schemes. This is real music, folks...

  • great love u willie......

  • if you dont feel that then check your pulse cuz you might be dead

  • DrNatalieP lost her account b/c of Google's gheyness- Willie- this is Doc Nat- the offer still stands.

  • Yup that's ol' Chuck...and Mark Knoffler on the fiddle @ 2:50! I'm only funnin around here BTW. I bloody Love this. Willie's a Boss Fuckin Legend!

  • Might be the best Willie performance of all time!

  • it is true time slips away,we notice it when it is gone.....

  • Chuck Norris on percussion.:26 -:38,just had to say it...i apologize everyone

  • @Jhinson500 hahaha walker texas ranger chuck lol

  • Everytime I hear this song and see willies guitar I think of john denvers "this old guitar"

  • love this version..sounding awesome willie...

  • When all is said and done, for me, this goes straight to the heart and brings back so many good (and sad) memories from my childhood. No one can get through my emotional 'defences' like this man, Willie Nelson. Thank you Wille, from Perth Australia.

  • Trigger Rules too, lol, hard to believe its 41 years old and still sounds so awesome.

  • Willie, You RULE, F#%k The IRS!!! They should be giving you money!

  • Completely in Awe!

  • Willie's the BEST

  • beautiful.we've loved and lost.oh boy what a song.

  • sooooooooooooooooo good

  • willy is great guitar players very few country singers can play so good like him

they just rely on the band but this man can play

  • It sucks listening to Willie sing lately. Because he pretty much just talks thur the songs now. Sucks cause he has this awesome singng voice, but he's a lazy singer now. Major drop off at the end of the verses

  • @VERB65 He's what, 72 years old? The pipes don't hang on that long. I think he sounds great. He's not blowing the doors off, but I'd rather listen to Willie sing now than to hear Kenny Chesney's fake southern drawl and crap like, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" or Justin Moore's unbearable "Backwoods."

  • Willie sucks

  • @TheCanseco1 Go suck on your moms tit troll

  • SUPERB!!

  • as good of a guitar player as you will find...not enough credit giving to him for that

  • Fabulous Guitar playing and a voice to keep you listening forever.Brilliant.

  • by far the best version of this song i found.

  • @johnson3825 I personally liked the version from VH-1 Storytellers w/ Johnny Cash as well. But this is better because fo the facial expressions of the men around him; thinking of God only knows what. Each one prob has his own broken heart to think on...

  • one of the best song writers of all time

  • Just can`t get this song out of my head!!

  • folks might not realize while he`s still alive, but Willie passed Hank a long time ago

  • I can see where Bill Callahan comes from, now.

  • Look at Kris K's face at 1:34-1:39 he's thinking " damn I wish I was that good."

  • @woopsme

    heheheheh yer youre right! hahahahahaa

  • i am `a fan of willie nelson

  • only the best 1

  • the JAZZY cowboy, Willie

audience seems to be deeply impressed by WN, almost plays better gitter than sing it

  • @CA TniteOwl........For me, it just ruins the video to hear that voice after listening to this great song. Nit picky maybe. The song is awesome, and WIllie is the man.

  • Trigger X

  • Wasn't this also recorded by the banana skins?

  • This is perfect with the exception of the commentary at the end after Willie's done. That ought to be edited out!

  • @prov1kenobi How nit-picky can you get?! I'm just happy that killerclam uploaded this marvelous video.

Those 5 words by Ralph Emory only make me curious to know what the rest of his statement was and who he was going to introduce next.

  • JUST PLAN BRILLIANT......WILLIE AND THE LIKE WILL NEVER BE REPLACED

  • I keep listening to this, don't think there could be a more honest rendition of this song. I think they appreciated one another...I would love to sing with them, and also with Willie & Diane, although I don't think Willie has any interest in the movie. I would sing Poncho and Lefty. if I could.

  • Have met him a few times...he always speaks to everyone who waits to meet him, and is just as genuine in person...He has an honesty about him and his songs reflect that. He remains outstanding to me.....Love You Willie

  • I hope some day I can meet him but if I don't get that chance I can continue to play my guitar he has inspired me as well as several other country musicians I saved my allowance up for months just so I could buy a guitar I've been watching these videos just trying to get some new ideas if anyone has any pointers please let me know I'm not very far along in my learning I'm 14 so of course I'm not very far along yet thanks

  • I sure would like too see this whole show..Can't remember the name of it.Anyone else know?

  • Any idea what this get together was?

  • Watching and listening to this, I'm thinking of the many, many times I've said that I don't care for country music. (Shaking my head at myself.) I could listen to Willie, Kris, Waylon, Johnny and SO many others all day long and well into the night. Pure genius.

  • @lynfendleyfoster My husband used to tell our boys that one day they would like willie (as he and I did), and they are grown now and they do.

  • I am a person not cruel but these 41 has shot with pleasure. !!!

  • just posted waylon & willie tribute on my page !!!

  • please.. I am 41 and pray and wish to see willie before I die/ childhood and adult and low down heartbreakin memories.. I ove him... love him!!!

  • i prefer the elvis version much better

  • Willie seemed really pleased with his performance at the end of this..as we all are..pleased with his performance..

  • 41 people have no soul.

  • I'd like to see Taylor Swift or Rascal Flatts compose a piece of music or pick a guitar like this. When Willie sings, you FEEL it. This is REAL country music, and I'm sad to think that Willie and his like are a dying breed.

  • @melissaruecker It's really sad. What I'd give to have just one night to have them all round a bonfire and listen to them singing n playing

  • this is one of willie's best performances(on youtube)...but who do you think Ricky Skaggs is picturing when Wille sez "In time yer gonna pay"? Ricky seems pretty invested in the moment.

  • @radishrose That's Billy Joe Shaver

  • @melissaruecker Willie is a Southern treasure that will be terribly missed one day. Others might claim him as an American treasure, well, that may be so too...but he was first, and I dare say last, a Southern treasure first. God bless you Willie.

  • @melissaruecker I heard that Willie wrote this song, crazy, and night life all in less than and hour is his motel room waiting for the rain to let up so he could run to eat lunch or breakfast...and I don't think there are many writers who could hope to measure up to Willie.

  • @melissaruecker You got that RIGHT!! Never happen...

  • @melissaruecker

he makes all audience and friends in awe!!!

can't speak more truth or honest

    never more truth!!!

how caan i ost on the whole list?

  • Ii have become a fan of this man quite late on (in my fifties ) cant believe I didnt give him too much time before, but I would just like to say I think his voice is wonderful and he is so talented, like they say better late than never ,
