Recorded FEB 1953, New Orleans. Orig. on Imperial 5234.
Lee Allen ts/ Edward Frank p/ Earl Palmer d/ Smiley Lewis g & vocal/ band handclapping - possiblly by The Toppers members (Joseph Butler, Bobby Mitchell, Lloyd Bellaire & Frank Bocage) who were doing group vocals for Big Mamou/ w/ unknown sax, g, b.
Lee Allen has that super tenor sax solo (0:40). :I:
Well don't think so really, the Big Mama Thornton version of Hound Dog was recorded in '52..yes there's a simularity but a totaly different tempo and feel to the songs..Whether the writers were influenced from either songs we'll never know..
Thank you.

Thanks for reply. Actually listening for a second time the music is very Bill Haley like.

My 1st time hearing another song from Mr. Lewis. It's good early rock 'n' roll!
