    Lee Allen ts/ Edward Frank p/ Earl Palmer d/ Smiley Lewis g & vocal/ band handclapping - possiblly by The Toppers members (Joseph Butler, Bobby Mitchell, Lloyd Bellaire & Frank Bocage) who were doing group vocals for Big Mamou/ w/ unknown sax, g, b.

    Lee Allen has that super tenor sax solo (0:40). :I:

    Well don't think so really,the Big Mama Thornton version of Hound Dog was recorded in '52..yes there's a simularity but a totaly different tempo and feel to the songs..Whether the writers were influenced from either songs we'll never know..
