Again a very well made video, to nice music. I`ve seen this show - one of those who looks great on paper, but then gets ruined by miscastings and bad writing. Philip Glennister is a great actor, but too old and grumpy looking to work as a sidekick for Christian Cooke`s character in this James Bond/fantasy cross breed. A younger, sleeker - is he good or is he bad mysterious - big brother fatherish figure - like Michael Fassbender or Nigel Harmon would have worked better, I think.
@Dolphininvisible Thank you, yh I also thought it was a bit of a mistake having Philip Glenister as the sidekick/mentor, while his age provided for a bit of humour when the demons effortlessly push him aside, it just seemed to make Luke & Galvin's differences contrast TOO much.... It was a good idea to have Galvin's view of the half-life seem more black & white than Luke's newfound opinion of it but Galvin's constant aggression towards "them" as he says got slightly boring
@SiobhanShivster (Ran outta space) It's hard to think off the top of my head who could fit the bill, but I agree a younger actor would have been best :)
@SiobhanShivster Yes, very good points. But another huge problem for Demons as a show, was the rather skimpy budget in the special effects departement. What worked for 70`s Dr Who will not work in 2009. This should have been - apart from Luke`s apartement - a blue wall/CGI show. People moving objects around totally covered in the same shade of colour as the background, so when the computer generated imagery were added, it looked like the objects were being hurled from flying demons and the like.
@SiobhanShivster (ran out of space) But what I did like about the show was the art direction of the modern world - the flat, the shiny polished cars (vintage or more modern). Unfortunately the construction of the storylines was not to my satisfacion - the people behind Merlin or Robin Hood have been better, in my opinion. The first series of Robin Hood had some superbly penned eps, and the chemistry between Colin Morgan and Bradley James, mixed with the humour - can keep Merlin on air for years.
@Dolphininvisible Yh that's why I said it was such a shame ITV had Demons rather than BBC cos (maybe the writers they employ or summat) bar Demons, Perfect Parents, Trinity, Secret Diary of a Call Girl & The Promise any TV drama I find myself enjoying has BBC behind it. Can't argue with your points about Robin Hood & Merlin though - Brad Pitt & Edward Norton carried Fight Club superbly, Colin Morgan & Bradley James are doing just as good a job with Merlin if not better :D
@SiobhanShivster I am very impressed with both the former Prince, now King, Arthur and his magical man servant. But also with the writers, who manage to create funny situations between the two in almost every episode. I feel pretty certain that if it hadn`t been for Morgan/James` great chemistry the writers and directors could play around with - in a brotherly-loverly kind of way on one side - and strictly master and servant class barrier on the other - Merlin, as a show, wouldn`t be as great.
