  • Question....when I watch playback on the monitor....using the dvi option, it will not play sound. I am not running magic lantern....should I be?

  • is this monitor good for the t3i

    ?

  • Hi man you are the best!!!

I´m thinking about buying a Lilliput monitor just like yours, the problem is that i have a Indisystem shoulder rig, and it is to mutch heavy to plug more heavy gear.

The question is: Your monitor it´s heavy? The DVI mode on t2i and 5d solves the blink problem in any lilliput monitor that has this function? Can you make some review about this stuff? Thanks bro.

  • I own a t2i and I was confused with why my lilliput 667-GL wasn't showing up on the DVI mode but after playing around with it, I figured out the solution. When in HDMI mode, I press the "DISP." button on my t2i and somehow it resizes it to something that looks 4:3. after that, try going into DVI mode on your lilliput monitor. It did the trick for me.

  • My 667GL wont fill up the whole screen with my Canon 60D, is there any way to fix that. Also, I can't find the DVI-setting either. :x

  • Is there any difference between using a HDMI cable or the regular AV Output?

  • Can I connect the monitor to the camera and my rode microphone at the same time .

  • I have a canon 60d and tried to connect to my tv via hdmi. But I can not, the TV signal goes black. I bought a mini HDMI-HDMI HAMA, can you help?

  • Will this lower the definition that you see on the Lilliput?

  • That is freaking awesome. Your humor makes watching your vids fun to watch while giving useful information. Great job man!

  • this problem was the only one i hated so mutch and now it´s resolved. Thanks a lot again, you are great man.

  • I bought a CVFQ-E157 monitor from ChinaVision Hong Kong which is really an unbranded OEM Lilliput 7" monitor and it has a AV button on it. Pressing the AV button will also toggle the DVI mode. Thanks for the tip! The blinking HDMI is driving me nuts, it also crashes my Magic Lantern.

  • Have you ever had problems getting the DVI mode to work? I've hooked up my 550D and lilliput to my rig, but when i turn it on to DVI mode it says "No input signal". However in i switch to HDMI mode it works. Occasionally I can get a signal through DVI but mostly never. Am i doing something wrong?

  • @StormBoxStudios

I would also like to know as well. I'm looking at getting the 5" version and i wouldn't be able to use it if it blinked like that.. (will be using 55D/60D w/magic lantern)

Anyone ever tried the above combination or similar???

  • How does the lilliput react with the 60D? Does it blink? Does it use the full real estate of the screen?

  • @TMTDJS Sorry don't have the 60D never had a chance to test it.

  • @onelonedork I tried this exact Lilliput 8" with the 60D. Changing to DVI does not fix blink issue...in fact, it says "no input signal" when using DVI mode and then screen goes blank. Same thing w/ PC, Video 1&2. Only HDMI mode shows an actual picture on the monitor. Furthermore, when you hit record in HDMI mode, the picture aspect ratio changes and gets completely squashed into a long, flat image...way different than the correct aspect ratio of LiveView on the montior.

  • @onelonedork it also happens with the 60D but can be fixed with this little trick you have. thanks!

  • Hey there! I just wanted to say that if you own a Lilliput 7" 668GL-70NP/H/Y like me you have to enable DVI in a secret menu to get it rolling. You access this menu by holding the powerbutton for like 5-6 seconds. A new menu appears, press the menu button for the next menu to show. There you can scroll down and enable DVI.

    Cheers!

  • @lollollol99

    Thanks for this :)

  • @lollollol99 DUUUDE! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was getting angry at my monitor. thanks thanks thanks. It works perfectly.

  • @lollollol99 This is also the work-a-round for the 667 model. Thanx :-)

  • @lollollol99 thanks a lot! mine is 667GL and it's work too!

  • @lollollol99 oh thanx! that saved me!!!

  • Hi! Does the picture show a little too stretched while recording ?

I noticed that when In HDMI while in Live view the picture stays normarl but when hitting record it stretches a little too much?

  • @dudek53 In DVI mode It's a little stretched all of the time on the T2i.

  • when i'm recording with my new lilliput the image gets squashed when in DVI mode and it sometimes doesn't come on. Only works properly on HDMI mode. Does magic lantern offer the ability to view 2 sources at once, ie view the video on the T2i's LCD and the Lilliput?

  • Hi which model of Lilliput monitor is this? Not sure if i'm being blind. Also do you know if this life saving trick will works on other lilliput models?

  • @majorminormedia It's the 8 inch hdmi model, and yes the trick works on other monitors.

  • @onelonedork That's incredible, for me this put the lilliput above the pro brands by a quite a way (even if it wasn't an intentional function!) Just ordered one - thanks for the info :-)

  • Great tip. Where would you suggest I look for buying the various parts for attaching 15mm rails to each other

  • @kevbomb I like CPM film tools equipment, but there are a lot of rigs out there, just depends on how much you want to spend.

  • what setting on your lilliput do u use as far as brightness, color, tint ect. im finding myself unplugging the hdmi to view the lcd making sure everything is ok. then pluggin back in

  • Do you have to set it every time you turn on the monitor?

  • @moratoriumfilms No, I set it up once and the monitor keeps the setting, but the only way to change it is with the remote.

  • Hi there, would you recommend this specific model of the lilliput? I've seen that it does not have a tint/saturation option in the menu, how does the colour/image compare to the DSLR's screen?

  • @StormBoxStudios The color isn't perfect on the Lilliput monitor. I haven't had any problems, but you are willing to spend more money there are better monitors out there like the smallHD.

  • You aren't plugging anything into another port - is this DVI-thingy just an option of the monitor, or a hardware-plug? I don't get this by now.

But that would explain that I can't find any DVI-plug on that monitors when I'm looking for them at coollcd.com?

  • Hey, how did you get the picture in DVI mode to fill up the entire monitor? I have a lilliput 8" monitor going into my 550D and when in DVI mode, it sizes the picture on the monitor down so that it doesn't fill up the display (not utilizing the full 8" screen).

  • @SuperFastHD there is a scale setting of 4:3/16:9 in the menu on the monitor. That should solve your problem.

  • does it still drop to SD? or is it always SD in DVI mode? and DVI mode still uses the same HDMI to HDMI cable?

  • @macdabby The monitor actually stays at SD in DVI mode as far as I can tell. The DVI mode just changes the way the monitor handles the HDMI input, you still use an HDMI cable.

  • great thanx! Are the faces necessary? :))

  • @watcherfromtheskies Yes they are.

  • @onelonedork Oh well...

  • @onelonedork also do you see yourself using the lillput more then the $28 one?

  • @sourcekings I think for me the $28 monitor will be used mostly on sliders, steady cam, and odd angle shots. Anywhere that I need something light weight and small.

  • hey with the $28 MONITOR DOES THIS WORK FOR IT?

  • @sourcekings the $28 dollar monitor doesn't have the blinking problem because it uses the RCA SD output.

  • @onelonedork oh ok thats good what you got coming up any movies or anything?

whats on the calender for you? what do you think would be a good first project to put onto youtube something simple?

do you know of any good ideas for a one man short film where one person has to do everything? something like your doing but something to learn storytelling?

  • @sourcekings Be creative come up with something.

  • I just received my 7" monitor and it doesn't seem to have the dvi setting. Not sure if its because its the cheaper 7" one or what. And man coollcd.com shipped mine in 3 days to Canada, i was impressed.

  • @Pickle11523 I've used the older 7" 669GL and If you grab the remote and click through the inputs it has a DVI input in the list. Not sure if thats the model you bought.

  • @onelonedork I have the 669AH and it doesn't have the problem with the blinking on the 7d. No delay what so ever. I didn't get to test it until today. Thanks for the reply.

  • @Pickle11523 The 7d wont blink monitors. The rest of canon's dslr cameras will.

  • Hi i ordered the "smallest field monitor" few weeks back. how long did it take you to recieve your package? cause i havent gotten mine yet.

  • @Zoneorigins Took almost 4 weeks to get one of my field monitors because it got stuck in customs. Orders from china can take awhile.

  • Thank you! Hey, are you on facebook? Couldn't find you there.

  • I'm slightly considering getting the Lilliput monitor but not sure if I need it and maybe I'm just getting it cause it looks cool haha. I have a t2i so it will only come out standard def, do you think there is much of a point? Because the resolution on the t2i with the monitor X I have from jag35 is really good quality. Would the Lilliput make it any easier to focus?

  • How many cameras do you have, dude?

  • what about the 7d

  • Thank You So Much!

  • Nice video.

Whats the disadvantages and advantages for using an External monitor vs using an LCD viewfinder?

It's 3:30am here in the UK!

  • @CYNFELYN23 It's really a personal preference.
