I was the one who rebuilt the cannon and set it up for firing. Powder = black powder FFg grade. The only projectile was a ball of paper wadding, because this is a "salute cannon" and the 1" bore is not final-finished. Such roughness when combined with a solid projectile would cause high risk of pressure spikes that could blow up the cannon.
A blown up cannon would not have pleased either the history fans, nor the people who were using the cannon on the range! :-D

Just finished the book. It was recommended to me by Lew Rockwell as an example of a work of fiction that used a free human society as background/theme of story. I enjoyed it very much.
