And to add on to TNSFE's comment, the Renaissance was a massive movement in many fields of technology, almost everything was improved. In the beginning you also see many architectural plans to that new technology and contrast between the animus and the time period it takes Ezio to.

But even more importantly, is it necessary for some of you to complain about background music for one of the many trailers released from this game? Chill out. It's just music.

All of the AC1 sequences and assassinations were the same. Eavesdrop( if that's how you spell it) on this guy, beat information out of this guy, then assassinate target. They also promised too much when they displayed the first one. I still had fun with it though and I think you should play it before playing AC2.

Incredible work and great music. My only beef is that the music is not reflective of the period. It's inconsistent and jarring to do this -another example of good music, good visuals/bad combo, is the use of Nine Inch Nails for the trailer of 300; I am distracted by the fact that the music has nothing to do with the character's time or the culture he is in.

That's not an entirely valid point here. Sure, the visual aspect for this single trailer is that of renaissance-era Italy, but the game itself is technically set in the near-future. The music track is used to reflect a more modern atmosphere, while the visual pieces highlight the more interesting gameplay elements within the Animus machine being used by the main character, Desmond. It's a crude balance, but it's still appropriate.

Entirely valid. Watch a movie. Listen to the music in relation to a scene, it has to work or you're pulled out of it.

Perfect example was Optimus Prime fighting Megatron in Transformers. The music was a ripped off music from 'Terminator'. It pulled me out of the scene.

Yes, certain juxtapositions work such as the soft and calming music during the massacre fantasy scene in 'Happiness' but here its just smacks of trying to be cool.

The game is set in the near future? yeah, that makes sense.

This isn't a scene. This is a demonstration. There isn't supposed to be any emotional connection here outside of "that's badass." For that purpose, the music is more than adequate.

Your "Transformers" reference isn't too relevant either. That movie had bad scoring, not the mismatched style you're complaining about here.

And in case that's sarcasm at the end there, yes, the game really is set in the near-future. Desmond relives his ancestors' memories: Altair in the first game, Ezio here.

True, the scoring from Transformers was HORRIBLE! one of the thousands of things the sucked in that movie, so in that case I'm with you on the emotional connection argument.

As for the mismastched style, it may work if you know the story of Desmond-who relives his ancestor's live in the past-,but if someone is freshly introduced to the trailer, it still doesn't work.

Most marketing ploys for a sequel in a pre-existing franchise tend to count on the fans they created with the first production. They assume that those interested are already familiar with the story, and so they don't try to keep it hidden as they did with the first installment. The early and mid-development trailers for AC1 gave the full impression that it was fully set during the Crusades, music and all, but there's no reason to do that here. The intended audience already knows that twist.

yea i aggree with ur point, that trailer simply shows how badass the game is, trailers don't have to have perfect music/visual attraction to draw the viewer in, it just has to get the viewers attention and interest (for games, for movies, you need good sync between the two, or it's weird). In the actual game however, relevant scoring and captivating music is necessary.

First of all, it's Ezio.

Second, you only come out of the Animus 2.0 three times.

Third, The game starts with you breaking out of Abstergo, fighting a small army of guards as Desmond. And you dont walk around all slow anymore.

OXM says that the skills that Desmond will learn as Ezio will transfer over to his real life, and when you come out of the animus, you'll be just as fast and strong.

I Don't know about the USA but in Australia The White version comes with 1 extra version, and some merchandise which varies from store to store (A shirt or something). The Black Edition comes with 3 extra missions and a bunch of other items (Figurine, Soundtrack, The Making of, etc)
