  • george bellamy is a father of mathew bellamy???

  • @nasho281098 Yes ;)

  • in-directly composed by Geoff Goddard, in fact it was a strumming session by Roger Lavern and Clem Cattini, Geoff got the credit for it though, but didn't really compose it..

  • Used to be shit scared of this when i was 6,must av been the big cat noises, still played it though in the dark, scary..... Love it now

  • I wasnt born when this came out, but it sounds ahead of its time great job!

  • My nan used to play this for us on her record player! Great song, lovely memories.

  • sounds like real pot-smokin music for '62...

  • I kind of like this one better than Telstar, I admit.

  • I have no idea..but? Are the Tornados and the Tornadoes not 2 different bands 1:43 shows the Tornadoes...? The guys look different?

  • Great! I remember this so well and I was 6 at the time

  • Thanks but Did you Know you Can hear all of the Ray Teret Radio shows on rayteret.com where you can REPLAY any show at any time of the day or night when you are on your computer? X

  • Joe Meek And The Tornados from England!!! What a great blast from the

past!!! I was in the 9th grade when their great instrumental hit "Telstar" dom-

inated the radio airwaves.I heard the song over 100 times alone at the Rec-

reation Center across the street from my Piedmont Junior High School in

1962!!! "Telstar" was the first sound-effects/rock instrumental hit-song ever!!!

  • Bolivian flute band?

  • best of the best these guys jt

  • The flip side to Telstar. Jungle Fever sounds mournful and brooding by comparison to the sparkly sound of Telstar. I am fixed on Telstar; I wish humanity were too.

  • George looks sooo much like Matt :L

  • @rawriizbigga agreed, kinda

  • Damn, this sounds really good!! : )

  • I am proud to say on Radio Caroline 199 1965 this was my theme song for the UGLI BUG BALL each afternoon at 3.0 clock.....I love it. ....Ugli Ray Teret rayteret.com

  • @UGG1ME Loved your show, Ray. Bless all you Pirates! :o)

  • @PSTube1000 yh saaaame thats why i searched it

  • This guy is on 24 Hours in A&E on Channel 4 on Demand.

  • @ooLJCoo lol thats what i'm watching right now :L

  • The first British Group to have a no. 1 hit in the USA! Charted on Billboad's Hot 100 List 11/3/62, stayed there for 3 weks, on the chart 16 weks in all!

  • Yeh same here just wanted to check this guy out! Think he needed someone to talk to in A +E. What other way then to promote yourself for free, good on him.

  • haha im watching 14 hors in A&E i have never heard of the tornadoes before, but one of the members are there with chest pain haha, well weird, well hope he gets better!

  • People really hate lady gaga and Justin bieber...make something better...don't worry ill wait

  • Lady GagYu cannot hold a candle to the likes of the Tornados. I remember my dad and I dancing to this song in 1962, at a New Year's Party. Definitely more primal and psychoactive than Telstar, which of course was a great song too. Love And Fury was a blazer also. Never before had I heard a guitar like in Love And Fury. In fact, David Gilmore of Pink Floyd sited The Tornados as one of his influences. Naturally, we can't forget The Ventures.

  • Geoff was allowed to compose this throwaway b-side as payment for his contribution to Telstar, viz the main theme on keyboard overdubbed several times, the piano fill-ins and the vocal effect at the end. Joe liked to have complete control over his product regards song-writing and publishing. Geoff was contracted to Southern Music and Joe resented this, so a lot of Geoff's songs never saw the light of day. As the B-side sales royalties are the same as the A-side Geoff would have made a fortune.

  • @Mr3sheds good bit of info there mate

  • sounds better at 33rpm

  • 49 here...and I agree with Singularity...this was better than Telstar

  • And to think, Madonna is in The Rock Hall of Fame . Where Oh Where did we go wrong ? While Groups like The Tornados who not only explored New Ground with their Music. But Created Completely New Sounds and Inspired whole Genres of Music are Not ! Amazing , but to us Fans. They will always hold a Very Special place Rock Hall or Not !

  • @dbrew2u Agreed my friend!! Not to mention the fact that today we have the likes of Lady Gaga and a whole host of other talentless garbage to listen to! Who knows, in 25 or so years they'll probably be inducting Lady Gaga's stupid ass into The Rock Hall of Fame once again giving us fans as well as musical heritage a black eye by overlooking great bands like the Tornados! The Rock Hall of Fame is about 90% bullshit... just my 2 cents!!

  • Joe Meek was kind of a genius! I got the original 45 rpm as well!

  • the guitarest in this band is the dad of mathew belamy (muse)

  • FOREVER JOE SEEK!A crazy but a nice guy who was very brave to kill himself!

  • Ah Roger lavern what a sound.

  • That is the real music...Cem-Turkey

  • Producer Joe Meek was way ahead of his time x This is awesome for 1962 x

  • Matts dad really looks like Matt :O

  • Great piece of music! JUST LOVE IT! it to short? :~).

  • Man, I love this! Sadly, I never heard it before!!! Thanks for posting!

  • I know from where matt bellamy gots his 60's influences sometimes :)

  • @vkorchnoifan It's not a B2, but a clavioline, which is the same instrument heard in several Del Shannon songs like "Run Away." It's entirely possible that the organ heard on the A-side "Telstar" was a B2; perhaps even a B3. If you ask me, forget about the B-side designation for this one...both sides of the 45 are equally exciting!

  • matthew is the spitting image of his dad George! I still can't believe how much alike they look!

  • Is that the B2 Organ ? I love it.

  • omg

  • This is The theme tune to the Ugli Ray Teret Show the Ugli bug ball on Radio Caroline North 199 meters Isle of Man 1965 .rayteret.com

  • I too have found this single, forgot it was the b-side of Telstar. Nice to hear again.

  • Can't believe I found this song. Love it. Thanks so much for posting.

  • top b side..meek sound...deranged genius...but top guy

  • csodálatos zene, mintha repülnék az űrben mikor hallom

  • Haven't heard this in more years than I care to remember. Wish I still had my 45!

  • Argh! I'd forgotten about this until I saw this just now! I used to listen to Telstar and this on my uncle's portable record player when I was about 5 or 6 (he had "King Creole" by Elvis as well, I seem to remember).

  • badass

  • This was a Joe Meek produced song. The clavioline is the most bizarre instrument ever created. In the second verse, it becomes almost frightening.

  • forget 'Telstar' this was always the far better superior side! fabulous!

  • bought this 45 today for $1 ( :

  • @systemqueen226 He most certainly did! If you like Joe Meek I recommend watching the film'Telstar'.

  • What an amazing sound considering the year it was made !! and i like some others actualy prefered this side to the telstar A side ....

  • Did Joe Meek produce this?

  • @systemqueen226 He most certainly did! If you like Joe Meek I recommend watching the film'Telstar'.

  • @systemqueen226 The composition of "Jungle Fever" was credited on the disc to Geoff Goddard, Joe Meek's right hand man at that time.

  • GREAT music! Very experimental.

  • Hey thanks for post steve01274 I have the tijuana brass album they done if i knew how to broad cast and had a working vinyl player i would play it

  • ik heb er jaren naar gezocht nu eindelijk gevonden ben geboren in 1961 dit nummer en de a kant zijn onwijs gaaf toppie

  • This recording could have stood on its own!

  • I LOVE THERE SOUND>>>>...has anyone sample there stuff?..plz need to knw?

  • @mazayme Panda bear of animal collective has sampled the tornados

  • singularity, we both enjoed it..Great comment too haha..

  • What's the instrument used for the song?

  • @kleinebudde its a Clavioline

  • Some kinda wind instrument. I don't play wind instruments so i couldn't pin point it, but thats just my guess.

  • Just wicked cool!!!

  • Comment removed

  • A great tune, I remember the songs writer & organist Geoff Goddard saying he just made it up as he played it

  • @jrgboy Hard to believe it was all improvised; it sounds very rehearsed. Very good at any rate.

  • Geoff just made the tune up to go with Joe's backing track - my source is The Legenary Joe Meek, page 146. Cheers.

  • awesome, i wanna go cruise'n!

  • Check out Hot Pot also by The Tornados. Cool!

  • I'm 65 and I still have the 45 record of this. Must admit I've always preferred this to Telstar on the flip-side. 5*****

  • @singularity64 Love them both equally! A double-A if ever there deserved to be. Even now, nearly 50 years later NO ONE knows how Joe Meek did those effects - how fantastic is that.

  • @singularity64 Totally agree, a great sound, brilliant production of that era.

  • @singularity64 My friend has just stated the exact same thing!

  • @singularity64 Me too I have my original 45 still sounds great,

  • @singularity64

I agree with you on that, reckon this was the best they ever did.

Also reminds me of Fluff, my old Cat.

  • fantastic tune ! one of my favourites.i'am 38. started playing my dads collection when i was 4/5years of age!!! did'nt know anything else at that age...brilliant....

  • this is very good.

  • This is more fun than Telstar. Both good songs though!

  • pro ? telstar is way better dude cmon

  • Awesome. Love it.

  • Great song. Great beat. Has a real primitive sound to it (don't mean that in an insulting sense). Bo Didley could have written this one. Great post, Thank you.

  • check chris isaak version

  • I actually like this one much more than Telstar

  • I have to agree, I always went to this cut on the 45, kind of a pre-pink floyd sound. My sister's been trying to get this record back from me since the 60's too!

  • same

  • Fantastic Earlobe Drug Candy ~

  • 00:44 thru 00:50, wrong set of Tornados!

Great song with Geoff Goddard humming into the Clavioline mic again. 1:20 to 1;51

  • The still image at 00:44 - 00:50 is NOT Joe Meek's Tornados but is another band with the same name.

  • They wearing the last cardigan sweaters known to man.

  • if your radio's Tuned Here than its Tuned Right!

  • the great CLEM CATTINI. on drums.

this guy played on 47 number ones.

there cant have been many better drummers than CLEM

  • He's quoted as hating his contribution to 'Telstar' - ashamed of it almost!

  • Well one Ginger Baker

  • ginger was great . buti think you will find that brian bennett is regarded as our really finest drummer.

  • the flip side of telstar, just so good,

  • Ah- ha! You have that copy too then, eh? :-)

  • try listening at 33rpm

  • I have and its brill

  • must of been 35years ago when i listen to it at that speed

  • Mark Goddard singing (or humming) in the Clavinet's microphone during the last verse, same as Telstar.

  • Brilliant tune really Great love Shirlsxx

  • The Best Tornados track for my money.

  • Glad to see somebody has put this on. Way ahead off its time!!!

  • Wonderful !!

  • I wish this went on longer then 2min's15sec's amazing music thay just dont write them like this eneymore.

  • sounds a bit like a track from Austin Powers

  • Wonderfull music....CEM-TURKEY

  • Awesome, one of the fabulous Tornados best tracks!

  • Love these instrumentals

  • reminds me of Donkey Kong Country.

  • reminds me of yoshi´s Island 2 :)

  • Could really fit a Donkey Kong game. I have Donkey Kong Land

  • 0:53 in the middle :)

  • I can't get which of them is Matt Bellamy's father

  • the tornados had the great CLEM CATTINI on drums. britains greatest session drummer. played on over 70 number ones and turned down a stint with led zepplin.

they where realy unique in sound just brilliant.

also the AWESOME SHADOWS best of british

  • It's the 'B' side to 'Telstar' on Decca Records from 1962.

  • where you found it i do not know but sure glad you did had this on 45

  • You could almost do the "Solar Swivel" to this one! (dance from "The Jetsons," which debuted at about the same time in 1962!)...

  • used to be Ugli Ray Terets theme music on Caroline North

  • Que de souvenirs en écoutant ce morceau...merci Steve01274

  • hey you guys do you know that this is matthew bellamy's ( from muse) father band

  • ca me rappelle mes 16 ans c 'est super

  • ca me rappelle la musique de mes 16 ans c' etait super

  • I have just now discovered the Tornados, the Shadows and several other bands from that era that are blowing me away,I've never even heard these bands material before and I'm 43, youtube rocks- awesome stuff! The fact that I've never heard these bands on a radio station is a crime.

  • You might like to try the "American Shadows", The Ventures from the same era and a very early British guitar hero, Bert Weedon. Despite his geeky name, Bert, along with Hank Marvin of the Shads, was instrumental ( in more ways than one) in many young men of my era picking up the guitar and having a go. Have a listen to Bert playing Guitar Boogie Shuufle. Also of course there was Duane Eddy from the States. Also Sounds Incorporated. Also The Outlaws. Happy listening !

  • Awesome,thanks a lot,I'll check them out!

  • Oh yes those guys made stacks of great music. And I'm 34 :o)#

  • Also try Jorgen Ingmann's Apache and a few others he did.

  • These guys were the absolute best, when it came to instrumentals, my favourite all time group.

  • The clavioline is whacked...that buzzing sound that follows the vocal in the last section is downright scary.

  • I love TORNADOS::::CEM-TURKEY

  • I love clavolines (early sythesizers)

  • Excellent song!

  • Joe Meek was fantastic, and The Tornados do some great work here..thanks for the post

    Raymond u.S.A. Pennsylvania

  • it aint what you do its the way that you do it!

  • If you are referring to that 1980's song...you're wrong. But if you are referring to Joe Meek's production style, then the phrase "it ain't what you do it's the way that you do it" is very well in place!
