yeah unhooking my battery didnt work or waiting for it to die and recharge it freezes as soon as i hook it up

True, but for a person like me who is always charging it unless they're using it, it still is not. It sucks that I didn't find out about until 08:38 PM (PST; Jan 1). I'm probably going to be waiting until the 20th until it dies. On the other hand, I almost had a good excuse to buy a new Zune.
P.S. I was so scared It died forever, I started crying, and I'm not even kidding. Anybody else?
