very good drama. Funny, yet harrowing. although there wasn't a lot to laugh about in this one. there were some Laugh out loud moments.

Smell walking in on Shaun and his Jam tart. and smacking the hell out of them. LOL

Woody thinking that Lol was dead. and her mum saying. "She's not dead you idot, she's down stairs having a fucking smoke!"

and Woody's downward spiral into Charades and polite dinner get togethers.

The advert on 4od for Xbox has a different song (same ad, different tune), and I've been trying like hell to find out what it is! It's kinda New Wave/Synth Pop sounding. Mid-tempo feel. Every time I try searching it keeps bringing up this version with The Smiths (great tune btw). Anyone shed some light on this? Ta!

Shane Meadows is a great director. The one mad thing is he shows people hugging each other.

I was into the skinhead thing back in the eighties and that didn't happen in our world.He also shows people high fiving( an americanism) It seemed really out of context. The film a room for Romeo Brass is well worth watching. Well done again Shane Meadows. Good to see working class realist films. Working class actors playing good parts.

Really outdone themselves with this one. Cant think of anything wrong with it, im not religious but I thought the catholic nurse prayer and the crucifix imagery both on the characters and the background was a lovely touch especially for Christmas, its nice and a breath of fresh air to see a non cynical approach to religion and especially Christianity on British TV. I wish I had friends like that and it reminds me of the Fairfield estate in Buxton where some of my college mates live. Top notch.

Sulky selfish clown, with a constant dumbstruck expression, his few lonely braincells struggling to string a sentence together.

As the telegraph aptly said.

I am in awe. This is officially the most engrossing, meaningful and human drama of 2011.

Excellent performances. Writing that is both emotionally intelligent and respects the ability of the audience to understand complex themes. Loose ends that run on and on...... Wonderful Drama.

Best british drama show since the last one. A must see without a doubt. As the years go on i love everyone in it and it always is never enough having a 3 hour show. I just thought it was brilliant. In love big time with Kelly on a stupid level haha. Lol and Woodie just stole the show for me. 10/10 from me and i would love nothing more then This is England 90. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE

it's set in 88 and the smiths broke up in 87...I suppose they would of still been pretty big in 88. but they barely got a mention in 86 (and most people consider 86 to be the smiths at their best).

still looks like the best thing that will be on this christmas, drama that is not all glamorising a certain lifestyle, its just telling a story, and it's abit grim but thats life.

@Anotherrnumber Yeah well they get everythin wrong. I mean the film was nothin like 1983. The early 80s Skinhead did not have long side burns like Milky's and Woody's. Nor did they wear Ben Shermans. Long side burns and Ben Sherman shirts was the late 60s skinhead.

In fact, I don't recall anyone having them that I knew after maybe 81(?). I feel that in spite of some oddities here and there, the movie did the best job of capturing the "feel" of that time than any I have seen.
