This shits boring. I'm just here cuz I got to learn about transcription and translation and amino acids and codons, anticodons you know what I'm talking about? Please send me messages if you can teach me through sites and messages. Please I have to learn this protein synthesis. Reply or recommend me to someone who knows
Do you know of a single biochemical process that occurs within the human body that involves glucose? Please exclude 1) all of the biochemical processes and compounds that are the result of consuming carbohydrates and elimination of glucose by glycolisis and 2) gluconeogenesis.
Is glucose involved in the production of any body tissue, protein, hormone, or essential enzyme?? If so, please refer me to the biochemical reaction that includes c6h1206
@howtogetwell try glycosylation, which is the enzymatic addition of a sugar (glycan) to a polypeptide in post-translational modifications during protein synthesis. Glucose is a component of a glycan and its addition aids in the proper folding of polypeptide.
You don`t specify if it has to be glucose by itself or not, so I don`t know if this suggestions will work. Glycans are glucose derivatives containing monomers of glucose. Good luck!
I really wish the professors at my school would post a youtube rundown of their courses.... immensely helpful! I'm glad there are professors out there who make use of technology like this to really help their students take away information, rather than just memorize it and regurgitate it at exam time.
No, we are not all like that. I am wondering if either one of them have any amount of truth to what they are saying... or if they spend more time watching reality shows than researching as good scientists do. I just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading their comments, thinking maybe someone had anything worthwhile to say.
hmmm interesting, im glad i chose a biochemistry major 5 years ago, now im in college taking GE courses first then transfering to a state university for a BS of biochemistry
just because you're not skilled enough to understand any of this doesn't mean you have to insult others who try hard to do so and Help others with this knowledge. Bet you get high on tetrahydrocannibol and your family hates you :P later @ xoaboox
Actually I was a biochemistry major and graduated with a degree in biochemistry (I can prove it, even scan it to you if you'd like) I was just stating from experience my biochem teacher was horrible and this teacher reminds me of how horrible it was to learn the subject. You can teach a subject like biochemistry with more excitement ya know. By the way I work at a top company and make a sh*t load of money and my family is proud of me B*TCH!
xoaboox, I know for a FACT you're not what you just claimed to be. So don't even try =)
Now go back to your Video games and get over the fact that you got offended by me big time. No more responses thanks, and leave this kind sir wanting to teach people something alone. He's too good to even reply to your negative comments ;)
I actually am not offended by what you said..nice try hun... I am not claiming to be anything..I AM A BIOCHEMIST (read it and weap) Maybe one day...just one day your life life will be half way as great as mine is...you little twit...go study or go to sleep!
P.S. Do not reply...I will not bother responding....now go do your homework cus your obviously not smart enough to retain the information from the classroom...you have to go to youtube for extra tutoring... retards like you should not be allowed in biochem classrooms! @carololol
you know what? Fine okay, yes yes, whatever you say kiddo! you're the Son of Elvis Presley and the Reincarnation of Bruce Lee! you're smarter than Einstein himself and pimp round town more than the stranger from way cool jr.
Xoaboox, you are a "GOD"
There, happy? now go tell mommy you got complimented on the "internetz" bye.
I have failed many subjects but life go one. Life is more than that, even I have done well in those subjects that I had failed, my life would not have been much different.
Keep looking you will find it. If it your teacher is not good go to the next one, a teacher with a Dr degree does not means he/she is good one. I have had teachers who just show power point.
You should do your best but also know/accept your limitation, change your direction as needed.
@KSmoothSaxG If you have a genuine passion for anything, nothing can be boring. We only live once, and I suggest to live it to the fullest. If you ever gonna do something in life, be it polishing shoes, carpentry and particularly a profession in science I suggest you do it with all the will and passion or else we come and we go and will never be remembered for nothing.
Hey mlcarrol, Due to a car crash ive now got a spinal injury. As you can imagine i have alot of free time. Im thinking on studying something that will eventually lead to me doing research into spinal injuries. It seems to me that bio-chemistry might be a good place to start my education but would you have any recomendations for me of which subjects and courses to do?
Sorry its taking me so long to respond. I rarely view comments here. Check out Dr. Cox's podcast on iTunes...Biochemistry 507. This will give you the basics.
@mlcarrol Man can engineer molecules! It shows how it takes INTELLIGENCE in controlled laboratory conditions to mimic, manipulate, plagiarize. Scientists COPY a set of genetic sequences!! They dont create anything! Its all Man made Synthetic chemistry!! and it has nothing to do with the origin of life! Yet there is no demonstrated source for such non-racemic mixture of sugars in any plausible pre-biotic environment. Homochirality is a disaster for any sort of naturalistic origins.
hello Dr. Mario. 1st of all i would like to thank u for what u do!!. **The quetion i have for u is that how can get access to ur lecture (if possible at all)? because u explain the subject really well than any teacher we have here in University of California.
Sorry to respond so late. Transition state catalysis is one in which the conformation of the substrate in the active site of the enzyme is the preferred substrate over the conformation of the substrate before binding enzyme. If the binding conformation is not formed the reaction will proceed either very slowly or not at all. Transition state analogs make good uncompetitive inhibitors.
Biochemistry was awful... for our final exam, our professor gave us a standardized ACS examination, followed by her own written exam. Luckily I came out with a solid B, and the prof was smokin' hot. This guy sounds like a tool.
The diagram shown in 1:06 totally goes against what one learns in organic chemistry. Protons cannot "jump", nor can they attack anything like a nucleophile. A more correct diagram would be the oxygen attacking and removing protons.
this video series is so damn great! it really shows the powers of the internets when it comes to providing dree, easily accessible education to anyone anywhere anytime. but i have an urgent request to the author: please try reposting the series an another vid hosting site which supports higher resolutions (eg. google)! the audio is terrible and the wtritings to tiny to be read. it really would be a shame to waste this great material!

actually, i'm kinda bugged out by it
those macromolecules have a mind of their own
so i used to be cool with having molecules in me etc.
but these ones are moving around doing all types of stuff, it's pretty nasty
plus, even though i'm not into evolution, i see it as true
i've come to realize, the atoms built me for their own energy pleasure
my life is futile, i basically function to serve their needs, haha
