@Phenomenomix what does it matter? Its not like they doing the movies will slow miura down. He has no work to do on the movies. And maybe the raised interest the movies will produce will motivate him more to pick up a better pace with the manga. On the other side berserk is realeased so slowly because its quality is much higher than most mangas I would even say its the highest of them all.

After all is said and done, he could live the rest of his days in peace with Shierke and maybe it could end with him teaching his son how to use a sword. That would be a good ending.

I think Guts still has feelings for her and Casca would probably still feel the same about Guts and Shierke is way too young lol, I doubt Guts' giant sword would fit :P

I wish i had discovered this a long time ago. I just now bought the dvd series and starting on the manga collection.. which will take a while and cost a fair bit.. but this is pure genius.. really inspired work. Miura wrote a lot while listening to Hirasawa's music.. it really shows as this music fits so well. It's no surprise Miura insisted on Hirasawa to do the musical score. (as per interview with the anime producer, Tushio Nakatani on the second last dvd extras)

You don't need Miura telling you to realize the manga haven't reached still the midpoint of the story: The objective of Guts is to take his revenge and exterminate griffith and the god hand, but for the moment, he's far from having enough power to accomplish this goal. And you can clearly see that there are lots of things to happend and misteries to be revealed too.

I loved this series when I watched, and hated it at the same time after I saw the ending. I was 19 when I watched it, I was pretty freaked out after the last episode. Some people say the animation isn't good in Berserk, but I think it's pretty good, if you compare it to say, Lupin the 3rd. Here's to Guts, the only guy in anime who body size is actually in proportion to that of his sword.

The Berserk manga is apparently being published by Dark Horse Comics. They're supposed to be very high quality, with many of the sound characters translated as well as normal speech. A tad expensive, but definitly worth the investment.
