I thought the same thing. But half way through the free running chase, the first time I saw this in November 2006 I thought this is the Bond we had been waiting for. I think if Ian Fleming had just seen the black and white opening titles with the shooting in the office and the fight in the Bathroom in Pakistan, he would have been thrilled.

When Dryden tells him that his file shows no kills and it takes..........two. And a smash cut into the bashing in the bathroom. so well done!!!!

Theme, is like "harry potter theme - hedwigs theme" or "indiana jones theme - Raiders March", this was the theme song of movie Casino Royale (2009), not soundtrack. Soundtrack is CD with (almost) every song used in the movie, or like in twilight, there was the "score" CD (composed music) and soundtrack, what had songs from Muse and stuff... ^^

i think after quantum of solace they should wait a while (since the company that makes the movies is bankrupt anyway), and then get some director like J.J Abrams to reboot the franchise once again. He did it with Star Treck in 2009, and see how that turned out! J.J. knows what makes a franchise special, and hones in on those special attributes to make a good (often feel good) movie

i think the reason they had him stop smoking was not to make it more politically correct, its not because they were trying to change his character, but to help him stay cool, and smoking just isn't as cool as it used to be. to make him better they had to alter certain aspects (personally, i could not picture any previous james bond doing that awesome opening scene where they're jumping off cranes)

yeah, The Living Daylights is probably my fav Bond film, the defecting Soviets the MI6 agents being killed by the KGB, the way the Opium trade is shown, the civil war in and around Afganistan. Its just a great Bond film really.
