who da fuck allowed the blockade? its cuba's and ussr own business, why should us intrefere? they feel like owners of the universe, sh*t... nikita should've pressed the button
@acoustiqueapple actually that is not a Canadian flag that is a Lebanese flag. the ship is called the Marucla under the Lebanese registry not all of the ships in the U.S. blockade were not soviet registered ships that were stopped by the U.S. navy
This was an outstanding movie. This is why we have civilians controlling the military.
Today all we have are these mindless retards that say "I'll listen to the commanders on the ground." B.S. The commanders on the ground take orders from the civilian leadership they don't give it to them.
I was in the Air Force during this time and the date the crisis started is wrong. It was October 10961 when we learned the missiles were in Cuba. I was extended one year and when the crisis was over they let me out in June 1962
@ewager1 Could you mean the crisis in Berlin? I know Kennedy ordered reserves for that in 1961. Every history book I have said the Cuban Missile Crisis was Oct. 1962.
A few years ago I had a book called 13 days, it was essentially Robert Kennedy's diary and copies of the correspondence between President John F. Kennedy and the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. Both were in fear of loosing control of their respective governments to the warmongering military leaders who would have taken control as soon as the first shot was fired.
Invasion of Cuba would have been met with tactical nukes followed retaliatory ICBM exchanges.
I love the part when he orders to sink the Soviet ship..and he is all calm and his eyes..man what balls..he would do whatever it took to protect those soldiers
HAHA , Thats rite soviets , turn around and go home , suck my red white and blue cock ya cunts.Wheres the Soviet Union? O yeah i forgot , they COLLAPSED. haha suck it
Why didnt JFK make the deal of removing the missiles earlier?so a sort of i remove my missiles and you remove your missiles kinda deal? honestly it would have been better if he did that earlier
kennedy made disgusting horrible decisions that still cause pain in the congo, central america and cuba but against nucleur war, committing genocide seems like a mild misdeavenor. this worlds fuked
@RadioOperator01 Yes, the guy with the glasses in the Pentagon on the phone with the President is then Defense Secretary Robert J. McNamara (Dylan Baker).
@glonnie15 lol....no! I do indeed play call of duty black ops but I was a huge JFK fan before it came out , since I learned about him in history lessons. Then I did some research and found out about his co-workers. I'm 17 years old not a fucking 10 year old that comments about black ops...*possibly right you*
@HHHHBK1000 No....they were not hesitating to push the button. But the presidents were. They were interested in saving the people than going into a war. It's called interest for the motherland :\
@HHHHBK1000 not only were they afraid to fight each other the world was because of the Fire power the U.S. And the USSR had which would contaminate the entire world of Nuclear fallout for centuries pretty much the cold war was a stalemate but a failure on the Soviets part spending to much money on the Nuclear weapons program rather than other needs
Kennedy was a pussy and a garbage Prez. If he wasnt killed he would have been a 1 termer. This was his crowning achivement due to Krushchev being unimaginably incompetent and the Soviet military knowing there was no missle or bomber gap. They HAD to back down due to a HUGE lack in technology and arms. The Soviet Bear was a well constructed myth.
@hogwillie You were obviously born after the end of the Cold War. Your arrogance and ignorance of both Kennedy and the strategic situation is mind-boggling.
whats wrong with russia? they are so stupid. in the cold war they hated us for no reason we didnt do anything to them, their so fucking retarded, they would blow the world up over pointless hatred?? really?
@beastbrian09 For no reason? What about the American Anti-Communist repression in the 50s? Korea? Vietnam? Bay of Pigs? The Greek Civil War? US ICBMs in Turkey?
every political science students and professors and politicians should watch tis movie. War was avoided with patience and proper decision making by Kennedy awesome movie. IT inspired me.
I think that President Kennedy did a great job in preventing the Cuban Missile Crisis from becoming World War III between the United States and Russia. Kennedy was a great President and I also think that Robert Kennedy would've been a great President as well. "Thirteen Days" is a really great film and it's one of my favorite films of all time. Thanks for posting these scenes.
@NX74656 I agree there with you but one should not forget the other side of the story and that is very hard for Americans to understand. to be quite honest...Americans are rather stupid.
... a strange game. the only winning move is not to play.

I like this scene because it illustrates the isolation of leadership. Kennedy is in a roomful of men, yet he is totally alone.
