Wow, fucking snob critic bitches. "It was about 15 minutes too long", really? Well surely all the awards she's garnered for her amazing films give her the credentials to critique this piece so specifically. Oh wait, she just writes movie reviews for some shitty website.
Really? They compared Jen to Scarlett? I think that Jennifer is already a much more accomplished actress than ScarJo is now after much longer experience. And JLaw is going to become even better. That was a stupid comparison.
I was afraid this would be one of those independent movies that doesn't form a cohesive story, that meanders for minutes at a time without saying anything, and where nobody talks.
Not so for this film. Though subtle, I thought the pacing was excellent- there's hardly a moment where nothing is happening. This film manages to feel realistic, without being frustratingly slow like "Broken Flowers", "Poetry", or "Ballast". I'm hardly an expert, but I'd consider this a perfect film.
@bearo657 And BTW, gay faggot: put on a nice shirt for your video! You're at work, for fucksake. Or are you too "cool" to actually appear to give a shit? You dumb gay faggot. P.S.: How do I know you're gay? Your mom told me while I was fucking her this morning.
The main criticism of this move is the "unrealistic" dialouge. Now, see here, I've been to the Ozarks. I've seen a meth dump. I've met the people down there. This movie? It has some of the most accurate dialouge you'll see out there today.
@prettynoose888 I've been down to places like that. Pawn Shops and gun stores are many times closer than Walmarts, I'm sorry to say. Not everyone has the ability to join our wonderful civilized society. Ozark Hillbillies make do, they can't afford to drive 30 miles just to shop at walmart every week.
Great, great movie. The little accidental things the camera captured made me realize CGI will never replace the camera eye. All the little things that were so absolutely perfect.
One of the best things about this film was what it shows about some volunteers to the army - poverty so short-term thinking about the signing bonus. Makes conscription - although also economically corrupt - almost look good by comparison.
Kind of wish there had been room for some dark humour of the Coen Brothers type.
@kitabwalli It also showed that the recruiter talked her down and told her it was a bad idea. Which is also telling of the honesty of American servicemen.
@paridisegrowth I agree. But I knew The King's Speech or The Social Network would get the Best Picture Oscar because they're such standard Oscar fare, especially The King's Speech, which I liked, but god, it's been done.
I'm pretty annoyed Debra Granik didn't get at least a nomination for Best Director too. Guess she didn't put enough CGI bullshit in it.
Brown haired girl needs to shut up and be more chill like the other two - I won't trust her judgements over the others' because she is too....I don't know what to say....fucking annoying?
Anywho - I saw this earlier today during my film study class...it is FUCKING awesome. I can't stand how films like these don't get the money they deserve. Non-indie films, mostly Hollywood, are just trying to make money and lack substance and originality. Same with how Bieber/Gaga are to music, and CoD to games
wful movie. I'm sorry it was bad and I really can't see why people like it. I get that it was trying to show realism in southern poverty but they said nothing intresting and for half the movie accomplished nothing. It had a formula
1. Ree asks if they know where her dad is
2. They say no either cause they really don't or don't want it found out
3. Move on to next guy
4. Repeat
Twice in this movie we got new information. Boring. Boring. Boring. The movie barely ever progressed.

Winter's Bone was fantastic. It's one of the few movies I've seen this year that I couldn't wait to see again. It takes a while to develop, so if you're not a patient moviegoer it might seem slow or boring. Personally, I was riveted by the actors
starting today, I just won't give a flying f**k to what the crtitics at Rotten Tomatoes have to say about anything. The movie is great, I'm not talking about the movie here. It's just.....look at them! Would you trust those three to tell you what movie deserves to be seen? I wouldn't.
@QuitePossiblyANinja Because Ellen, Brett, and the others in this review don't vote with the Tomatoemeter. It's other critics on the Rotten Tomatoes website who vote for the final percentage.

I thought this film was only so-so.......it’s typical of those kind of people, they can’t afford food but yet they can afford guns and bullets.

Please don't use such peppy background music in your reviews. It just doesn't fit with a movie like this. Maybe a comedy, but good grief not a drama.
