David and Shirley haven't spoken since the PF? No way. She's his real-life stepmother, and he's close to his brothers (her sons). David and Shirley have appeared together many, many times since the PF days. She guest starred on David's ABC Family sitcom (playing his mom again) a few years back. And they've always spoken fondly of each other in public.
@kbirdus you're totally correct when you posted Shirley Jones and David Cassidy are friends.. they have a true affection & respect for each other, and you can see that when they're together on different talk shows. Even David and Danny Bondaduce have a good relationship, odd as that may be. David was & still is the stable older brother and Danny was & still is the blacksheep of the family, which he readily admits. It's just too bad Susan Dey can't come out of the funk she's in.
My parents bought my family the first season a few weeks ago and I fell in love the show and songs they are so catchy and good. and I love Keith(David Cassidy in it) it's a great show I'm jealous of all the shows I wish there were more like them today.
i love the partridge family but they really weren't the partridge family i have the whole thing and my favorite 1's are i can feel ur heartbeat, the theme song, and somebody wants to love you
Because of Shirleys authentic style of singing ,she was on the record ,but they had to reduce her voice to match with the background singers, you do here her ,she is singing the love love part in the end..she was so cool about it ,she gave no problems whatsoever.
This was one of my favorite PF songs. Yes, David Cassidy resented the bubble gum character role but this song was too early on in the series to have been something the writers/producers would have tried to appease him with.
According to a VH1 show, David Cassidy walked out in the middle of an PF episode filming one day, ending the PF TV show and group. Sick of the bubble gum, he wanted to do harder edged rock. It was said that he and Shirley Jones have not spoken since to this day. His discontent was well known and I wonder if this song was an attempt to appease him..but an an innocent family group image has its limits..the Osmonds tried "Crazy Horses"; neither song sold well; popularity waned for both..too bad..
@luxaurum they h DAVID AND SHIRLEY ARE NOW AS CLOSE AS EVER< AND HAVE EVEN PERFORMED PARTRIDGE FAMILY SONGS TOGETHER LIVE AND ON THE Nick at night tv land awards. its here on you tube i think.
One of my favorite songs by them! As a professional musician and songwriter, I can truly say that this was a crowning songwriting acheivement. The chord changes, the pushes & pulls, the stops...VERY clever! And I love how we hear what sounds like a theramin at the intro & you can actually see Laurie making that sound happen by turning knobs & sliding a theramin-like lever at 0:00-0:03. I always suspected that Laurie was the true musical genius of the band! Piano lessons since age 3....VERY COOL!

Not only is he lip-synching the words and finger-synching the guitar, but in a couple of places he's even foot-synching a wah-wah pedal.

i wonder what shirley is sitting on, she sure is happy, good tune, he could always sing, and probably would of faired better in a more kicked up band
