I just lost my Rottie today after 13 years. I browse around youtube to look for consolation and i found this video. Amazing Gibson like my Toby. I am missing Toby already.
I had a rottweiler but he died 3 years ago! He was the sweetest dog. And we also have a pomeranian that he protected very much. He never hurt any other dog or cat. He loved street cats. I'll never forget him!!! When i return home i still think i'll see him lying in his bed.

Im so sorry for yr loss . Gibson looks amazing . My son had a rottie and she was the softest dog ive ever known . I have always had german sheps but lost my Roxy last june ans have now got a german shep x pyranean mountain dog who is a darling . Its how they are brought up and trained . No dog is born vicious and I agree you know your animals if you are an animal lover .
So I have a German Rottweiler, about 15 months old, that is 28 inches tall at "withers", which is top of shoulder blade. He is the tallest Rotteiler I've ever seen, despite feeding him controlled growth formula his whole life. not sure how much he weighs, 6 weeks ago is was like 105-110 pounds. how much do you think he will weigh when he is done filling out? still pretty skinny right now. poor guy had to have elbow surgery a while ago for elbow displasia.

What a fantastic animal. If dogs are brought up correctly you cannot get a better companion. I wouldn't be without my husky or beagle, they mean the world to me. It's nice to see dogs playing with kids, it takes away the bad press which is usually directed at them but not deserved !

I just smille when ever I see a rottweilers happy and I am a owner of one myself and they are not what peaple say they are like!! they are friendly and a loveble family member and it's sutch a thrill to have one im my life! Never felt more loved my eny other animal I've let in to my life! REALY recomend (if you like hade work) a rottweiler. Our two year old neighbor's daughter may ride on her 70kg ( 150lbs) Rotweiler. Of course her parents are always with them. She was born into the family and great care was taken that the dog did not feel pushed aside. From the first moment on he knew that this little screaming one in the cradle was something to be protected. When we came over to see the newly born girl, he would not let us in or come near her. Normally he would take the chance of the frontdoor opened to escape into the garden..
This is one video I've seen where the dog actually seemed to be a wiiiittle rough, and the baby seemed annoyed too, or just hyper. But so cute, thanks for sharing. R.I.P beautiful doggy.
We had to put our 12 year old rottweiler to sleep today because he had cancer :( I'm so sad, I came back from school and there's an empty backyard, that's what I'll have to go through every single day. Dogs kept by human, their behaviours are influenced by human. When a dog learnt to behave like that, she knew inside her that this little baby was her friend, she would never hurt the baby. Sorry that Gibson has left us.

@JSpecGC8 Very true. The Rottie and Dobie are extremely unlikely to bite for no reason, particularly the Dobie. Dogs like Springers, Chihuahuas, Jack Russells et all are far more instable in temperament. Alot of the so called cute cuddly dogs are actually hunting dogs with a high prey drive. People never think of these things. Added to that the people destroy the temperament of these gentle giants and it's hard to justify their feared reputation.

But to be honest, I like how the german shepherds look.. their ears stick up and their tail.. like a wolf :) i love wolves and they remind me of them.. plus German Shepherds are trustworthy dogs. @dms5805 I'm surprised you love wolves but would go for the german shepard. You should check out the Siberian Husky or the Alaskan Malamute breed, they both share the closest lineage to the wolf than any other breed of dog (and the husky is the only breed that retained its predator drive from the wolf)
@kinsmon123 I know what the Alaskan Malamute and the Siberian Husky look like! They are really pretty dogs, yes! :) But, we don't live way up north where it's cold, where they can stay up north only. I hate cold weathers, I rather live down south all my life. I do live down south right now too, and they wouldn't survive :(. But it would be really nice to have an Alaskan Malamute or the Siberian Husky. I can't have a wolf either, so instead, I got me a German Shepherd. Best breeds on this planet!
@dms5805 As a side note, I live in Australia, and we have had husky's for years. They do quite well in the heat, oweing that they shed their undercoat before summer, so its really like having any dog in summer time. I wouldnt take a husky from the nordic regions, but the puppies that are born here cope with a 40 degree day like any other dog. Plus they love to swim! :)

Did Gibson get professional training or was trained only by you? He seemed really well-behaved! I always see these videos of big dogs with babies and get fascinated at their carefulness. I had a Poodle once, and when she was feeling playful with me, we would roll around on the floor (¬¬) and she would nibble my hand REALLY gently and every time she nibbed the slightest bit harder (it never actually hurt), I would say "ouch" or even complain just to see her reaction and she got EVEN MORE careful!

I was so excited when i got a rottweiler because i love wrestling with big dogs. It sucks that my rottie has submissive urination issues. Wrestling with her is not always the best idea.
I have a rottweiller called alice. They are so playful rotties...some are even daft. Mine is just mad. She broke her leg as a puppy but made a good reovery but always tells you in her way (by shoving her bum in your face) to rub/warm up her broken knee. we call it her poorly leggy and she just sits and licks you as if to say thank you. They are not savage beasts, they are humble giants.

I just Lost my Rott. :( We had to put him to sleep because he had Diabetes and he was so far along we couldnt do anything about it. :( They are really good dogs and people always get misjudged because some people raise them wrong and they act out like that. But i have had many Rotts, and they have been the most caring and loving dogs i have ever seen. I just wish people could see that.

@iPauuulx That's perfectly normal. You have to keep up with training, make sure she knows that you're in charge. Rottweilers are cattle herding dogs so they tend to be a little mouthier. Make sure she knows how to use a "soft" mouth. When it hurts scream, "Ow!" really loud and high pitched.

My 4 yr old niece, and my 1 1/2 yr old nephew adores my Rottie, Abby. She's the first thing they ask for when they wake up, "Where's Abby?" and whenever they eat anything, you'll see them sitting on the floor, sharing it with her. Alot of people said we're stupid for allowing a Rottweiler near a child but I can honestly say I trust my Rottie with the kids more than my Shih Tzu. Now that little dog is one crazy dog - try getting nipped by one...
@dogzilla81 Yeah, exactly. If the Rottie knows you're a part of the family, kid or not, you're not going to have a problem. When we'd bring people home that our Rottie never met before, my mom would hug them in front of our dog and say soothing things, to let her know that this was a friend. But if a stranger ever got to close...haha. My dad was walking her once and this guy came up real fast to ask something. In a flash, she had the guy pinned up against the fence, growling her head off.
The best friend a baby could have. I lost my Rotty 5 years ago and I miss her so much still. She was a street rescue and was the sweetest furkid ever. All the neighbors and the little kids adored her. I would have loved to meet Gibson. . Thank you for giving him such a loving home.
I understand your lost. My German Shepherd, Lobo ("wolf" in spanish), died at the age of 5.5, and died of cancer too. He was my best friend, an outstanding dog, and part of my family. He died in 2008, and I still miss him.

@JSpecGC8 Very true. The Rottie and Dobie are extremely unlikely to bite for no reason, particularly the Dobie. Dogs like Springers, Chihuahuas, Jack Russells et all are far more instable in temperament. Alot of the so called cute cuddly dogs are actually hunting dogs with a high prey drive. People never think of these things. Added to that the people destroy the temperament of these gentle giants and it's hard to justify their feared reputation.

But to be honest, I like how the german shepherds look.. their ears stick up and their tail.. like a wolf :) i love wolves and they remind me of them.. plus German Shepherds are trustworthy dogs. You should check out the Siberian Husky or the Alaskan Malamute breed, they both share the closest lineage to the wolf than any other breed of dog (and the husky is the only breed that retained its predator drive from the wolf)

@kinsmon123 I know what the Alaskan Malamute and the Siberian Husky look like! They are really pretty dogs, yes! :) But, we don't live way up north where it's cold, where they can stay up north only. I hate cold weathers, I rather live down south all my life. I do live down south right now too, and they wouldn't survive :(. But it would be really nice to have an Alaskan Malamute or the Siberian Husky. I can't have a wolf either, so instead, I got me a German Shepherd. Best breeds on this planet!

@dms5805 As a side note, I live in Australia, and we have had husky's for years. They do quite well in the heat, oweing that they shed their undercoat before summer, so its really like having any dog in summer time. I wouldnt take a husky from the nordic regions, but the puppies that are born here cope with a 40 degree day like any other dog. Plus they love to swim! :)

Did Gibson get professional training or was trained only by you? He seemed really well-behaved! I always see these videos of big dogs with babies and get fascinated at their carefulness. I had a Poodle once, and when she was feeling playful with me, we would roll around on the floor (¬¬) and she would nibble my hand REALLY gently and every time she nibbed the slightest bit harder (it never actually hurt), I would say "ouch" or even complain just to see her reaction and she got EVEN MORE careful!

i´m sorry for your lost i also had one some years ago and 2 boxers, the Rottweiler was shot by a neighbour and the boxers died because of their age, it´s wonderfull when you understand those dogs and create a tight relation with them they really are the best friends you can have. a dog usually is a mirror of your personalitty.

I have a rottweiller called alice. They are so playful rotties...some are even daft. Mine is just mad. She broke her leg as a puppy but made a good reovery but always tells you in her way (by shoving her bum in your face) to rub/warm up her broken knee. we call it her poorly leggy and she just sits and licks you as if to say thank you. They are not savage beasts, they are humble giants.

I just Lost my Rott. :( We had to put him to sleep because he had Diabetes and he was so far along we couldnt do anything about it. :( They are really good dogs and people always get misjudged because some people raise them wrong and they act out like that. But i have had many Rotts, and they have been the most caring and loving dogs i have ever seen. I just wish people could see that.

I just got a rottweiler, a few weeks ago, bitch names Milly, shes 5 months now, is it true they 'Challenge' for dominance, how do I stop this?
Another one is she keeps nibbling, though she is well trained with basics - Sit, Paw, Other Paw, lie, Down, stay, heel, Drink
She tends to play with other dogs by biting their ears, is this normal to?

@iPauuulx That's perfectly normal. You have to keep up with training, make sure she knows that you're in charge. Rottweilers are cattle herding dogs so they tend to be a little mouthier. Make sure she knows how to use a "soft" mouth. When it hurts scream, "Ow!" really loud and high pitched.

My 4 yr old niece, and my 1 1/2 yr old nephew adores my Rottie, Abby. She's the first thing they ask for when they wake up, "Where's Abby?" and whenever they eat anything, you'll see them sitting on the floor, sharing it with her. Alot of people said we're stupid for allowing a Rottweiler near a child but I can honestly say I trust my Rottie with the kids more than my Shih Tzu. Now that little dog is one crazy dog - try getting nipped by one...

@dogzilla81 Yeah, exactly. If the Rottie knows you're a part of the family, kid or not, you're not going to have a problem. When we'd bring people home that our Rottie never met before, my mom would hug them in front of our dog and say soothing things, to let her know that this was a friend. But if a stranger ever got to close...haha. My dad was walking her once and this guy came up real fast to ask something. In a flash, she had the guy pinned up against the fence, growling her head off.

The best friend a baby could have. I lost my Rotty 5 years ago and I miss her so much still. She was a street rescue and was the sweetest furkid ever. All the neighbors and the little kids adored her. I would have loved to meet Gibson. . Thank you for giving him such a loving home.

I understand your lost. My German Shepherd, Lobo ("wolf" in spanish), died at the age of 5.5, and died of cancer too. He was my best friend, an outstanding dog, and part of my family. He died in 2008, and I still miss him.
