The 1D doesn't have an audio interface... basically no audio input/output, its just a controller... check out the 2D, does exactly what you want.

Id asume that you would have to have midi out on to get it to respond to messages. Im thinking about buying one for my dj/producer setup and your video was a helpful resource thankyou.
