By the way the distance want to shoot the hight you need to get ect. is adjusted by a combination of power and release angle, i would have liked to see a nice big arching shot with a heavy solid object not a balistic marsh mallow, what good is that to storm a castle with or may be yanks dont have any castle`s so who are they to show you how to lay down the gauntlet . LOL.
The longer the arm the faster the tip should move but this longer arm places more weight on the motor end so now you need a bigger motor to overcome this. There is nothing to gain in changing the release angle when you have simply lost power to the shot by making the arm longer. (who many yanks in History have ever made medievil seige engines?) LOL.
yup, generally thats about right. There are some variables and typically a little under 45 degrees works better. But shooting for 45 is a good rule of thumb.
hey nice video but i was wondering how do u make it because i am making one for a school project and yours is like really good and i would like to win. but ya i just want to no how to make it so could u like post a comment and i could see
is ti very complicated to make? and how long is 17feet? (in metres)? I have a school project that needs me to fire a tennis ball 3.5-4.5m away from the starting point. so can you recommend me any catapult? Thanks :)

OK Folk here it is in plain English (British).

Lengthening the arm doesn't change the angle that it stops.

43º not 45º

@zhzhzh5 for an object with very low drag 45 is bank, for high drag like a marshmellow 37.5 is what your aiming for

Basically the closer to 45º the better?
Thanks for the tutorials, looking forward to try and build one of those ;)

This catapult is called the Torsion Catapult. The tutorial on how to make it is on my website and in my playlist for siege engines.
