i agree with christiantry a bit. they do sound a little bit robotic for a majority of the song, but i think it might be the type of song theyre doing. they do an amazing job either way. blend and balance are wonderful, and so is the soloist. im in a couple choirs at my school, including a womens choir, concert choir, and a show choir, so i know a bit about the mechanics of it all X]

@christiantry I checked your version (which is, I'm assuming, what you intended in posting your response to this vid.) I don't know that your version showed more emotion than the soloist/group, and the fact that they arranged the song to be sung a cappella and sing it to a live audience rather than singing to a computer with an accompannent track is a huge difference between the two versions. You have a nice voice, though. Maybe u should join an a cappella group?

let me start by saying that i have great respect for these guys for arranging this song a capella and performing it live, but i really had my ear out for the soloist and felt he was robotic, so comments that say 'perfect' or 'better than colplay' kind of seem bogus to me. i referenced my video only to show that i have a clue about what i'm talking about, not to compare apples to oranges. i just want people to really listen and be honest in their comments.

Its understandable that you would like your version better.......but i think you might be the only one. I found your whispering to music not only boring but it might have killed my house plants. i think the mens octet not only took a risk on trying this arrangement but pulled it off pretty damn well.

The UC Men's Octet FINALLY last week just released their first CD in six years- called "High Octane". It's available by phone or mail order through the UCCE (University of California Choral Ensembles) office in the basement of the Cesar Chavez building on the UC Berkeley campus. Their phone number and address info is on their website- just google UCCE Berkeley. I recommend getting the two previous CD's as well, "Octopella" (2003), and "Gold" (2000). Both feature ICCA champion groups!

I read the older posts (kind of like an faq) different channels. It''s amazing how many of the questions have been answered by the guys - I pay attention to actual Octet member posts (rickawoodtube, kenny314and gobears236) - because they know their stuff + the little boxes with the subscribe tab sometimes has the answers right in them - especially in kennyk's channel. Plus, google has some info. It's not alot, and most of it is about the newest group, but every little bit helps.

No offence to anyone, but I think that these guys were better than the guys coming after them. It seems like these guys are more in sync with eachother than the other ones. (Which might have to do with these guys singing together longer, I don't know....) Their Nirvana Medley and Bohemian Rhapsody was absolutely BRILLIANT!!! And so is this song!!! (all of it really hahaha) =D

I don't know how many would be offended by your statement, however this group is just a tiny bit different than the Nirvana/Bohemian group. Jerome, Kenny, Rick and Ben have been replaced by Robin, Anthony, Josh and Brian. Also, Jordan is leading now. The one that comes after is also really good...I see the Octet as a vocal sourdough, you need a little of the old batch to make it sound good. :D
