on the approach to this pier is a granite monument reads something like: "dedicated to those who lost their lives here and those who tried to save them". you can see the back of it when the camera pans up river. people drown here nearly every year. be safe.

i live in Kenosha Wisconsin and i  remember the waves that day and yeah they were huge, the city closed down parts of the beach that day
