Couldn't catch a word in the line at the end of that stanza: "One ____ like Nelson, that's the trick, you see..." And Nelson, I'm assuming is referring to Admiral Nelson?
@JonnyBGoode44 I think this performance was recorded in Nelson, New Zealand. The lyrics are "....I like Nelson, that's the trick you see, that's why I'm still the ruler..." - Flattering a Kiwi audience and shunning Australia in one verse - clever!
@randall2020 to be more specific, it was a knock on Pauline Hanson, an anti-immigration politician from Ipswich. She owned a fish and chips shop and was a member of the Australian Parliament for Oxley.
I hope this makes the verse more interesting/enjoyable!
I cant believe the people who believe that this is performed with an orchestra. Its cute, but commercial

In the Royal Navy, officers and ratings (sailors) salute with their palms facing downwards, unlike Royal Air Force and British Army personnel.

@kipperdude1 Whether or not you're actually wrong, perhaps you should at least spell "wrong" correctly?

It's a bit rushed, the enunciation is a bit off, and it's sung with the faintest feeling that the people involved are thinking they look silly.

No wonder the General took this as an infernal nonsence.

Catchy tune, lol

I felt the performance was rushed, they said the lines too fast and truncated parts they could've sounded off for longer

@MrCuddlyable Sullivan...yes.
Gilbert would probably go with it, he was all for humor and satire and was a bit sillier and more flexible than Sullivan...
But, of course, it takes two to make a masterpiece like this.

Although now I listen to it closely and watch his hand gesture - I think you're right "...one-eyed like Nelson..." one-eyed = bigot, I get it now....

Could then not invest in a female chorus as well?

@randall2020: was a reference to some Australian politicians. well in keeping with the original flavour of G&S!

He added a couple of lines at the end that I am not familiar with. Were they improvisations or part of an original text?
