Unlike the Democrats, Republicans tend to clean house quickly. Graig pled guilty to a crime, and must resign. I won't hold my breath waiting for Democrat, William Jefferson(90K in my freezer), to do so. He was too busy speaking to his constituents at Dillard University, in New Orleans, the other day. He looked mighty nervous, but I didn't hear anyone in the audience calling for his head.

You can see that the GOP are learning a lesson from the beating they got over how they dealt with the Mark Foley debacle. After losing both houses of Congress in the subsequent election, many are jumping on the bandwagon to condemn Craig, when what Foley did was actually much worse, but they took a wait and see approach. No matter. It's too little, too late. Their hypocrisy of "moral" leadership has once again been exposed, to the disgust of the general public.

I see nothing inconsistent between McCain's point that a confessed lawbreaker should not continue to serve in the Senate, & his usual straight-arrow stance: I think he's speaking his conviction. I'm not a McCain fan: his convction on the Iraq war is disastrous. But I hold with his clearly correct observation that an hypocritical, confessed criminal should be gone from the Senate.
