Some people do better than others. The surgery was done correctly. I just don't believe it was what I needed. The surgeon lied when he said it would cure my migraines. I did cure the pain I had in my shoulder. I mean not worth the surgery. Live & learn. Thank you all for the comments. I'm sorry the quality of the videos were so bad. I was really out of it. I wish you all luck and please update us as to how the surgeries went. If you post videos let me know so I can check up on you all. Good luc
Oh, I wish I would ot have read this tonight! I have been a nurse for 20 years and thought I should take a look at what I will be having done in less than one week. I highly trust my pain specialist and I know the surgeon well. I know a lot about them because I use to do medical malpractice work as a nurse. After seeing the pictures (UGH) and how the post surgical pain is described, I am a bit hesitant.
Fusions should be outlawed! They are a money making procedure. The best solution is the Neo Disk or the M6 disk implant but because the FDA is corrupt and run by the greedy and criminal medical industry you have to go outside the US for it. EAT THE RICH! Join the 99%!
I had the c5-c6. The jury is still out on mine. 3 months and counting , lost my job but pain is not to bad unless I try to do something usefull and productive. This sucks. Pain is much better after surgery as long as you dont try to do anything productive. Trouble is one needs to make a living. I hope a year out is better . They say 6 months your 95 % . Lets hope so for all of us
I was actually looking for something for a good friend of mine who is scared to have the surgery. In April 2002 I had a C6-7 fusion, A plate and 4 screws installed. Never fused w/ bone from the bank. They waited til Dec. 2002 to shave bone from my hip and enter thru the back of my neck this time to install posts & wire wrap and my bone then it finally fused. Also had my L5 S1 done in 2008. End result, Healed but I suffer every day. Had to give up my career. Advice, Think hard about it. Good Luck
Thanks for sharing. After a wreck I had excruciating neck pain, then 2 cirvical discectomies w/ fusion & plate; Didn't help at all. I was sent to a pain clinic & got addicted to the meds so I stopped 3 yrs ago. Then last summer I got hit by another car & am back on meds (lower dose). I'm now facing another possible surgery, this time laser or laperoscopic, I hope. Brutal! Hope you're healing well. Don't get trapped in the pain pill pit.
I had the same surgery a week ago and I'm doing great. Arm and shoulder pain is gone completely. I have more strength in my arm now than before the surgery. I still have swelling in my throat, but I know this is just temporary. I no longer have headaches either. The only pain meds I'm taking now are ibuprofen! I was taking 3 different pain meds before the surgery -- one was a narcotic and made me drowsy. I can't believe how much better I feel just a week after surgery!
I have had the cervical fusion of c5,c6,c7 and that was back in 2004, back then the pain from surgery was so bad and for months after it was not any fun, I swore that if I had to have it again I wouldn't. Well unfortunately I have to have the surgery again on the c3,c4 levels.... Yes I am going to do it, because the pain I am in now, is hundreds times worse than it was after the surgery.
@MsJadedmind I'm so sorry. Believe me when I know what you are talking about. I was told that it would cure my migraines...didn't happen. They are worse than ever now. I was told by 2 different neurologists and a new primary care dr that the first was an unnecessary surgery. So...my friend I really wish you luck. Let us know how you are doing.
I would not do it again. I was told this would cure my migraines...and it hasn't. Now I'm told I have Occipital Neuralgia. Which is a worse pain than before the surgery. I don't think the two are related...but think I was mis-diagnosed before this surgery. Let me know how you are doing after surgery..
Im 7days and im still in more pain than you and thanks for posting something for me to relate to..... If i could do it all over i dont think i would im in sooooo much pain
Thank you for putting this information out here on youtube. I'm due to have surgery the 6th of December. I was hoping to be back to work after two weeks, but now I'm not sure I'll be able to.
Thanks for the video
