my thoughts are that even though ABBA said they were not breaking up at this time, the guys defo knew it was the end of the road, and the girls probably too.
Its ironic, the best music they made was between 1980-1983, even though no-one really took much of an interest.
Im 23, and love ABBA to death. I would rather play one of their songs that some shit Lady GAGA turns out........<3
What is the reason Bjorn divorced the lovely Agnetha? Anybody please tell me. I am nostalgic of ABBA tho' I was born two or three years (1985) after they "unoffiicially" called it quits... I need a reply please?
@KenfromDublin While a lot of fans feel that way, I lean toward caution, as the fans may still see ABBA as they were back then, not as they are today...living different lives with different people, enjoying grandchildren. I personally woudn't want my perception of history's perfect pop group to be destroyed, especially after I brag about how they used to be, WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG. I'm content to know that they're still the hottest, even after not recording for 3 decades.
Ah you'd be surprised Super', kids today aren't that judgemental or ageist at all and will nonchalantly allow for the ageing process.
I genuinely believe an ABBA reunion would be an epic event, greeted with universal euphoria by their countless millions of fans - just remembered that was the name of their recording label 'Epic'.
@KenfromDublin You sound like a fellow schoolteacher, and I appreciate your view. I suppose I don't look at it from a young person's point of view, but from my own, and try to zealously guard my perception. But you ARE right about it's potential of being an epic event...THE event.
@girlRock1000 These four are going to sing a song in english, called "People need Love"
(They sing for a little while)
1972 did Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Frida under the name "Fest folket "(Party-people). It took 2 more years until they change their name to ABBA. And they became the 70's most popular pop-band.
In November 1982 ABBA where guests on the show "Nöjesmaskinen". Just a few weeks before the band was going to split.
Male Interviewer: When we met earlier today you guys said that you where tired of aswering the same boring questions all the time. So I'm going to ask, when do you think that ABBA will split?
Frida: Oh, now, haha
Bjorn: That's the most asked Question of all.
Female Interview: OK, so what Question is the dummest?
@girlRock1000 Benny: We where on some music-reunion (I don't know the proper translation...) in Cannes a couple of years ago, and we got two questions in a row that I think is kinda good. The firt one was "Do you like music, yes no?" and the second "How to make a hit?"
Male Interviewer: What did you say?
Agnetha: Yes
Benny: I don't know. We where pretty polite actually.
Frida: I thought it was so funny So I had to leave the room. First time ever!
Frida: I got angry and I thought it was funny. I didn't really know how to handle that
(They sing "Under Attack")
The song "Under atack" was on the record "The first ten years" that got realesed November 8th. The song wasn't a hit and didn't make it to the charts. But the record placed first on the Carts in England.
awesome - i am a true diehard ABBA fan alive - young teeny bopper during their reign of pop - take note mattsasurfer - and i would so love to meet them all - but i was true fan of agnetha.
omg so sad. swissprincess1974, were you alive during abbas fame? im so so jealous of people who were. im what you call a next generation fan. i so wish they would do a comeback tour. then i can die a happy woman
The first part in this video where ABBA are sitting around the piano is one of their first TV performances, yes. But not the last part where they appeared in 'Nöjesmaskinen'. That is as a matter of fact their very last performances as ABBA and that is what the name is set for. The first part is just to show how it was like back then!
Yes it was a LIVE satalite link from Sweden.. so they aired in Britain too... there's also a nice little informal interview with Noel Edmounds if you can find it here..
hahaha-are you okay, man-LOLThey were no gays! And I think that the girls were "guilty for this Wonderful songs-they were the inspiration of benny and bjorn!i love them! And frida especially:)heh
Okay....What should we call this? Surely we can't call it "The day the music died", because here we all are still enjoying them! How about..."The day the music was put on hold "? Very nice video Sandy.

Sad, to think they are all still alive, it would be fabulous to see them get back together to play live and even record a new album.
It would rival the second coming...

When it was happened just in their best career moment!
If they can continue more 5 years, there could be many more wonderful songs!!!

1980s fashions aged people and weren't as sexy as the 1970s styles. It's why the 1970s look has been back since the 1990s.
