It's not like Metallica was the only band to ever sue over music downloading - there are plenty of famous artists that have done it, but Metallica was one of the first to do so.
Downloading content from internet is not a problem because its not like any band is going to stop playing and start work in a factory. People are lining up to be artists weather they get 100 million dollars or 10 000 dollars from their work so society does not really have any incentive to care at all weather metallica or others get their money.
@miiiikku And those same people who do not actually support the artists by buying music & such will force them to retire early since there is no real way for them to keep doing what they want to do (no money to make cd's, shirts, buy better recording equipment, go on tour, etc)

But, following that logic, if an artist you genuinely liked were to be playing somewhere, & they were selling CD's they made themselves (no record deal/store to hassle with), you wouldn't help the artist? You would just say "no thanks, I'm going to just download it when I get home"? It seems like a bit of a slap to the face for the artist to me. Don't understand the dislikes.
I like both Metallica and Al, there's no point on disliking something like this, Al's a genius, one way or another.
If he did this, Metallica agreed on letting him use their copyrights, get over it people, even the very own members of Metallica liked it.
