This reminds me of how I killed Drizzt a game ago... Wand of Summon Monster was the best item I had. But it wasn't effective against the demon from the expansion with his scripted spells.
Anyway, party play is incredibly fun, but six against one doesn't even border on fair.
He isn't incredibly difficult. Usually, what I do, is wear him down with summoned beasties (winter wolves being beautiful at this), and once he is seriously injured, send in the buffed warriors, assisted by summoned fodder and maybe a Nishruu. The mages simply sit back and lob non-fire single-target attack spells. He WILL die. It's messy, unsophisticated and inelegant, but it works for me.
