Does samurai warriors 2: Empires require a disk import to have full access to extra content?

Empires doesn't have such a feature. That game came before this.

@FrOoOstBite Empires is more of a strategic game where the goal is to conquer all of Japan. The original is focused on individual Battles, Characters and events. Xtreme Legends is an add-on to SW2 where there's a new mode, some new characters and changes to the game's mechanics

Empires is complete as-is. There's nothing missing that you can add to it. There is a lot of stuff you have to unlock, but you don't need another disk to do that.

That right.

Samurai Warriors 2 was released in 2006. Xtreme Legends was later released in 2008 (Yeah, after empires even). Most of the people who were getting XL would already have the original game. And anybody familiar with the Samurai/Dynasty Warriors games would recognize that Xtreme Legends is an expansion to the original game as it has been done before.

Somehow, SW2XL manage to attract a lot of people who didn't even know about the previous game, and in some cases are even getting angry.

@chaN234mc *sigh* I've already explained what to do, but apparently, some people just don't get it.

Get Samurai Warriors 2 ready, go to import and select yes. Then put the Samurai Warriors 2 disk inside and wait until it's finished. Then put the Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends back in when it tells you to. This must be done each time since it's temporary.

@ProOrochiMaru A very common misconception people make it that Xtreme legends doesn't lock the characters. It just doesn't have the original story modes by default. You can still use everybody in Free Mode and Mercenary Mode.

There is a chance that forcing the story mode of those characters with cheats could cause a freeze on certain stages due to missing data. Continue at your own risk, basically.

Unfortunately, Xtreme Legends is only for PS2 and a download from Xbox Live Marketplace.

Well Xtreme Legends came out a number of years after Samurai Warriors 2. It was promoted with the fact that people would already have had the original game.

This game is an expansion to Samurai Warriors 2, just like how Dynasty Warriors has 3, 4 and 5 XL version, or even the first Samurai Warriors. It even says in the manual that you can combine this game with SW2.

I need more information. You need both Samurai Warriors 2 and Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends. I've heard of the Import working on burned copies of the game(s), but for the best compatibility, you will want to have the actual games.

The data XL Imports from Samurai Warriors 2 is pretty specific. So you may wan to make sure there are no scratches or try to clean the CD's before trying again. If the PS2 says the disk you insert is not SW2 data, then maybe your PS2 could be in a bind.

It's "Please". Anyway, If you are talking about save game data being created from Samurai Warriors 2 into Xtreme Legends, then you do that by pressing triangle at the load data screen, before the game starts up.

I'm getting confused by what you are trying to ask. What is this "write disk"? You should put in "Samurai Warriors 2" when you import game data "(That's how you get Story Mode characters), then put back in XL.

Okay. Are you disks scratched? The PS2 Lens is notorious for getting out of whack, even on some slight buffs. Because there is something wrong with either of them (probably not the XL disk since you can load the game).

You need to put back XL only when it tells you to. But if you can't get back to that, then your disk(s) can be the problem.

I am not going through all that trouble just to get your copy working. However, you can search for it very easily. Though I doubt it's going to help much.

If you need any further help, use messages. Still asking if your disks are scratched, ergo being the root of the problem.

Correct. This is also why I recommend that people read the Xtreme Legends Instruction Manual. It defogs a large percentage of the question people already have about the game.

But a little tip I could recommend is that you try to do as much as you can before moving to XL, so that you can carry over the previous character's stats and abilities, instead of starting from scratch.

Yes. Survival Mode, Surgoroku and the Story Mode of all other characters are playable in Xtreme Legends when you Import Samurai Warriors 2 data. But since you can only import that data to memory, you need to do this each time you want to have access.

It's a pain on the PS2, I know, but that's how it works.

Import = Load original SW2 Game Data to memory.

Memory resets when you turn the power off. Saved game data will be retained.

Question.. You know Ginchiyo's level Kyushu? Well in SW2, a different model of Motochika Chosokabe is there. If you play that same level but in SW2 XL with anyone except motochika, is it safe to say the character model is swapped with the new motochika chosokabe?

Yes. Anytime you play a stage where a character that was previously a generic in SW2 is now a playable character in XL, you will find that they use the new model, but mimic the role they had in said stage.

Example: Toshiie in Shizugatake. When you are supposed to convince him to leave the battle, he does in fact have different lines of dialogue to say (so does Katsuie for that matter).
