katana's have been around for thousands of years, actually swordsmen revered the japanese katana and its craftsmanship ..it was suitable for another type of fighter though because the guys who had broadswords could cut a katana in half..

ones who would use it were quick and had a style similar to the samuria of japan..

they were used.. but not widely

you should checkout the festivals... they are really rad.. lots of beer, food, and sex

@drewschkelton ive never seen a renaissance fairs in england, thank fuck for that :D and i go to vintage steam shows, there alot better than renaissance stuff, some is steam punk, but i go with my collection of engines (look at my vids) the shows are victorian based, with traction engines and lots of agriculturial displays, from back in the days of steam. at the night time theres a beer tent, food stalls, with the best entertainment in the beertent by Dr Busker the last victorian pub pianist

99 percent of the people you see in costume at faire, and even the ones who don't have time to dress, don't get paid. We volunteer our time to put on these faires because we enjoy it.
