hola , quiero saver si arias un embio a peru de una katana ,, solo busco , una la mas comoda q tengas ya q estoy muy interesado , ..mi nombre es cristian , grasias,,
Thank you Hattori ! But as you know, the sharper the edge, the less forgiving the sword is if improper form is applied to the cutting of tatami or other suitable targets. I do appreciate your comments...so thanks ! ~Peace... Haz
As I said earlier, I know jack about swords. For whatever reason I thought these swords would cost thousands or at least a lot more than they sell for. I really want one now that I see they are affordable. I realize it would probably take many years of concentrated study to weild one properly so it would be more of a special thing to me I'd take out when I needed to see it.
Your website is really cool. Hats off to who ever designed it. Very user friendly and visually stimulating.
Thank you for complimenting the swords. Your kind words are greatly appreciated CityHall ! I will inform the people who deserve all the credit which is the workers at the forge. I will tell them that they have received a compliment from you. They will be very happy!!! Thanks... Haz
I know nothing of swordsmanship and even less about sword craftsmanship.
I know this might sound odd but I was wondering if these swords are imbued with any outside "spiritual", can't find a better word, forces? Besides your own of course.
I was also curious if you have any knowledge of any of your swords being used for "combat", cant find a better word, in the astral.
I am subscribing and feel most fortunate to have found your channel.
CityHall, that is the greatest question anyone has ever asked me. All I can tell you is that the people of Asia believe that like any work of artistic and functional value, a swords (to whatever degree) possesses part of the spirit of the Master Swordsmith & as importantly, the Polishers who toiled to create a sword from a billet of raw steel. World-wide, I think all artists leave a part of themselves in their work....yes? The sword's owner will imbue his own spirit as Master of the Sword.
samuraiKevin2... yes...however the ability to slice thru a single sheet of paper does not indicate the true degree of sharpness as experience swordsmen will tell you. My wife owns a Hanwei Tiger Elite and although it is sharp, it can't cut thru paper as the blade's cross-section is thicker than the Preying Mantis which is a "thinner" blade that is unforgiving if you mistakenly make a bad cut against a target. Great question Kev !!! Haz
Bad2TheBone <--- see I got it didn't I ? Cool Beans and 32 duhs to myself ! Heck yeah it's sharp...that's why my website is called SharpSwords ! :-) Haz
Thats great. Im doing a few little projects, sharpening 300 dollar swords for a few friends that bought great weapons that had a horrible edge. Out of those, I found a 60 dollar blade with a hamon that revealed itself during the sharpening and polishing. Any tips on bringing it out? Its a straight line nothing fancy, but totally unexpected on a 60 dollar blade...
There are 2 ways not to get cut when cleaning a Katana. They are: #1 Have someone else clean it for you (Ha Ha Ha) and #2 Do as I do and wear "Kevlar" gloves. Thanks for the great question. Haz
thanks alot i followed the instructions i got with my katana and used a thick cotton towl as a pad i accidentally sneezed it cut thru the towl and i almost lost a finger
What forge or vendor gave you those types of instructions with your sword?
I'm curious to know who. Now as far as cutting oneself while cleaning a blade...I've been there...done that ! I have more scars on my hands tha you could ever imagine. That's why nowadyas I always wear "Kevlar" gloves...but even then...one must be careful when handling a "live" blade (gotta watch your toes too in case it falls) ! Haz
While Hazamayakiba's points are valid. I have found that the safest way is simply precaution. A steady hand (which a swordsman should have) and the familiarity of practice. A good katana's edge is ridiculously sharp, but remember, of all the blade it only has that one edge.
Kortus...there are 2 books you should buy and then read...the first is entitled "Japanese Swordsmanship"...and the other is entitled " iai " (iaido art of drawing a sword). Thanks for your comment ! Haz
Whoa... iv'e only ever seen one of my swords cut through papper like that!! soo clean and like it was a butterfly flying in the wind, until' the praying mantis strikes!!! If u keep showing swords like this i'll have to try-out one for myself haz!! ^_^
Thanks for the compliment on my katana Kenpachi. Another will be "born" in about 4 weeks. 1095 clay tempered w/ authentic choji irregular pattern hamon...the real stuff !
