  • i'm from Florida USA and was in BKK for 2 months visiting my Thai friend . My typical Thai breakfast was sticky rice , fish called pla tuu and a fried egg, also had chinese soup with greens and minced pork with blood tofu ..that was surprisingly delicious ^__^ also lots of yummy fruits...my neighbors were from Isaan by the way

  • Nope, that's not porridge. That's water maggots.

  • cogee

  • There are four famous and delicious kitchens int the world. Chinese, Indian ( Pakistani ) French and Italian.

  • @maymar1

Replace Indian with Spanish. I like it, but it appeals to fewer people world wide. I know they like it in Britain though. Mexican/Spanish food is extremely popular, not sure how you missed that.

Pakistani food is just some of the Indian cuisine, but it's influence by Persian cookery.

Your comment is a little insulting though. I'm Irish, and nothing beats a Shepard's pie. And I love Arabian food, shawrma, Kebab, kuftah, Falfel. Arab food is good stuff. All cultures contribute.

  • Very typical. The soup is more like Thai breakfast fastfood. Usually found on streets early in the morning. Not too easy to make at home during rush hrs. Thai rice soup is more like Thai normal breakfast. Guess that place happened to sell Dim Sum too. That's why they were eating it in the morning. The black dimsum was actually sushi though.

  • Same deal. Rice soup/ Congee/ porridge.

  • I'm Thai and I work as a translator. Trust me, man, I would call it Porridge/Congee (thanks matthewung). Only the edge of the rice is used. We have another breakfast called "Khao Tom" which could be considered a "rice soup" cuz it uses whole grain.
