I'm so glad that motorsport is finally getting away from the stigma that turbos are somehow dangerous. V-6 engines with turbochargers make perfect sense, and they should also be making their way into road cars in my opinion.
I know that going flatout could create pack racing, but it hasn't been different for a while and Wheldon's fatal accident couldn't have been avoided if they didn't drive flatout. It also could've happened at Texas or Kentucky... They only could avoid it by allowing less cars. Because 34 was way too much, I won't be against it if they will be driving flatout again next year on the 1,5 mile or bigger ovals (like Indy and Autoclub), but it would be better indeed if they had to brake in the corners.
What does it matter it goes flatout, we've seen great Indy 500's the last years, so what does it matter. Of course I think the racing could be improved if they had to brake in the turns, but even if they go flatout we can see great oval racing next year.
This looks a bit slower compared to the Dallara indy car on iRacing Unless I'm just racing it extremely hard on there. But watching the video and timing the lap from 0:44, it ended up being about 41 seconds even for a lap. I'm at least a second faster just practicing, and about 2.5 seconds faster while qualifying. I understand its a different car, just trying to figure out if slower is going to equal safer or if its just the simulator.

Beginning of Indy 500, I love that sound!
End of Indy 500, whats that buzzing noise?

so boring. indycar needs to ditch the ovals and go to only road/street courses.

@terrible1fi Wow, that is very interesting considering there would be no IndyCar if not for the OVAL called the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
IndyCars deserve to be on ovals just as much at road/street courses.
