  • I've had a hard time finding the right colors to go with my eyes because they're kind of a weird color/combination. Basically my eyes are the color of the pacific ocean, kind of a dark blue green with a caramel color around the pupil. What do I do?!

  • fantastic video...!! i really enjoyed it...!!

  • very helpful!!!

  • You said how to make blue, green, and hazel eyes pop but what about gray? I have gray eyes with a hint of green. Do I use the same coots as people with very green eyes to make them pop?

  • @VictoryFire88 Grey eyes are very cool, so using any warm colours will make them pop...!!

  • Koren that was so helpful..I am working on color theory right now and that was explained perfectly!!!

  • so what colors go with dark slate gray ?

  • If you have green eyes, is it okay to wear blue eyeshadow lol? I'm scared to go there, but I would really like to. Hahah.

  • what color of eyeshadow would look good with hazely/green?

  • I've had trouble finding a color wheel. Where can I get one? It would be great if you could point me to the type of store, cause I don't live in the US. Many thanks

  • thank you so much for your videos!

    they are so helpful! :D

  • Hello Enkore :)

please, could you tell where I can find that color wheel please? T__T

  • YAY! Koren! I love your videos. I can't help but smile every time I watch your videos. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • So blues are the direct complementary to dark choclate brown eyes?

  • is he gay ? i like him!

  • nice vid ... well done

  • very nice presentation - thank you :-)

  • @maleficentdiva he's not trying to tell us what to do at all. Hes just informing us about the colors and shades and everything. Wear whatever you want, no one cares if ur trying to be a rebel. This is really useful especially for aspiring makeup artists and such.

jeez, get a life and stop being difficult

  • brown comes from a mix of reds/purples.

white & black are not colors.

  • u r great

  • very interesting... but were can i find 1.- the white and black ? 2.-and the differents tones of brown ?

    Tnaks ;-D

  • Red and blue is violet

  • then from where comes brown?

  • from red and blue.. I think

  • You are a very good teacher

Thanks for sharing the informations with us..

  • not the lion king, it's tarzan!!!

  • i spray paint, and your video made alot of sense, i understand the color wheel now thank you!

  • you are awesome- love your videos!

  • is that the song from THE LION KING??? LUV IT !! LMAO HE LOOKS SIMBA!!! lol that compliment boo!! simbas cute!!!

  • Isn't it tarzan?

  • where can i get that wheel?

  • I got the same one at Office Depot ;)

  • you explained it so good :-)

  • Very informative! I seriously need to get a color wheel.

  • where do you get a color chart like that ?

  • your awesome! gosh i cant get enough of you! great work and this is a lot of help! thanks<3

  • Great tutorial!

  • thank you!

  • Very helpful video!

  • That is easy

  • Great Video!

  • Excellent video! I feel like this one was made just for me. lol

  • where can i get a color wheel?

  • Michaels

  • Make one yourself.

No matter what field you're in, that uses colour, that is the best way to really understand what you're learning.

  • Thank you so much! I feel like someone just explained the secrets of the universe to me! LOL! On to part 2!

  • I was looking for this theory. Thank you :)

  • then why did you watch it?

  • hi enkore,

i am new in make up and i totally love ur vids. i am indian, and i have really dark black eyes. and because of my dark brown skin color i find that not all the colors look good on me. what color of eye shadow do u think will look good on me?

  • how can i get that color wheel

  • I have very light grey eyes with little pigmentation but a dark black circle around them... I Find I can wear any colours but not neutrals and i would love to wear neutrals have you any idea what neutrals I should choose?? thanks

  • what colors would you recommend a platinum blonde with green/blueish eyes and an ivory skintone?

  • Reds, oranges, browns....

  • @warlockboyburns Oh my god, you are an idiot. Wow!

  • awsome! you are such a pro at all this. ugh. it's so confusing.

  • if I have hazelnut eyes which colour go well on me?

  • browns, golds, and hazelnut is a brown family and brown is a dark shade of orange. So anything that complements orange will go well with browns.

  • @victoriaone blue :)

  • can you recomend a makeup school

  • Hey, I have a little problem I have acne oily prone skin I always moisturize my skin before apply mineral or liquid foundation and i use a oil free moisturizer but throughout the day i notice dry patches have formed around my nostrils mainly and the corners of my mouth any suggestion please ?

  • i would recommend that you use products that gently cleanse your skin so that it won't strip vital moisture but will remove excess oil & pore clogging impurities i highly recommend the pureness line from shiseido it's very affordable & it WORKS! this is what i personally use myself hope this helps good luck :-)

  • GOK WAN LOOKEY LIKE

    XXXX

  • My favorite shades of eyeshadow on me are pinks...earthy pinks. I think they bring out brown eyes amazingly but they also look great on blues. This video is just indispenseable. Thanks so much for it.

  • great video, thanks.

  • Thank you for this video; it's been very useful for choosing a colour scheme for my hobby model painting. Your explanations were exceptional.

  • my eyes look like a really washed out green from far away but there actually more turquise up close so would pinkish eyeshadow look good and make me eye color stand out a little more?

  • you can use pinkish shadows, and combine with with a wine/burgundy color will complement the pink, and brings out the green in your eyes.

  • This confuses me? I have blue eyes and hazelish/green around my pupil and I've been told that green eye makeup looks great with my eyes, or makes them pop. How is that so?

  • this is an amazing video. the introduction music is so catchy also! So sparkly, so cheery, so enkore!

  • this is a very helpful tutorial:)

  • I have the exact same color wheel, lol

  • ohh i have dark brown eyes and am not sure wich colour would make them pop?? would it be bright bluee? i am so confused :( enkore please help meeee! x

  • purples are SO pretty with brown eyes. so are champagnes, golds, and even greens. since your eye color is neutral, almost anything would good with it.

  • oke thanks :) but what would make them stand out? like what would make them look reeeally reaaallly brown and big??

  • i would say try a white liner on your inner rims and a liquid liner on the outer halves of your top lash lines. that really opens up your eyes.

  • ooh okay, what colour? :)

you know when he says for blue eyes to use orange because of the colour wheel blah blah...

    what colour do I use???

  • those colors i mentioned earlier? those would make them pop.

  • where can we get a color wheel i want one even though i know all the stuff about it!1

  • Any craft store that carries art supplies, you might could even find one at walmart or home depot or lows in the paint samples isle... but I would try the craft store first.

  • Where i can find this please?

  • Normally at art shops or even some book stores

  • thanks!!!!

  • thanks! helped so much. i needed to know the color wheel for hair color and makeup.

  • You are an excellent teacher my friend! I truly appreciate your videos!!!

  • is it different in make-up than it is in paint? just curious cause when i took 2-d design in college they told us that HUE-is the color, Tint-is with white, SHADE is with black, and the color+gray was called LOW-CHROMA.

    thanks

    hales

  • thank u so much u r amazing i never actually thought of it like that this is goin to help me a lot in the future since i want to become a makeup artist once again thank u :)

  • Why does everybody think that eyes only come blue, green and brown? We gray eyed people get damn tired of being left out.

  • yes, i agree. (tho i don't have grey, but rly dark brown that seems black.)and black i think is pretty left out 2...*sighz*

but gray eyed people (my opinion) look exotic. i'm sure w/e colors look good:)

and as for black, i guess it's up to me to experiment!

  • Hi Koren! I had a question. I heard its a faux pas to match eye shadow with clothing. I heard its very "80's/90's". I was curious what your opinion was on the subject! If I were to wear a purple dress, should I wear something "complentary" according to the color wheel?

  • the color wheel is definitely a good reference, but remember, the focus is on what you want to emphasize... is it you purple dress? your pretty eyes? your face? - so if youw ant to make your eyes pop more, then use colors that will complement your eyes, but still consider the dress your wearing. You want contrast, yet complementary.

  • Thank you, that was super-helpful! LOVE THE VIDEOS!!!! :D

  • Im Filipino too! Well half Filipino

I absolutely love your videos you're amazing

  • You Rock! WOW! Thanks Again! :)

  • magenta+yellow=red

    yellow+cyan=green

    magenta+cyan=blue

    magenta+cyan+yellow=black

its impossible to make true clear magenta or cyan with a rby color wheel. and if you mix r+b+y you'll get a brown color.

They sell cmy color wheels which produce a larger gamut of colors.

  • How about grey and black eye? Which colour would make eyes pop even more? (my dad have grey eyes and my mom have black eyes :D)

  • I remember in art class in high school they said that colors like red-orange or blue-green or something like that, the primary colors are first. So like instead of it being orange-red it's red-orange.

  • Hey Koren! Great video. I have a quick question~

For darker brown eyes, my kind of change and have small flecks of green (which I like to bring out) but mostly it's a darker colour and not really honey, what colour works best for that? I have often heard pinks and purples make brown eyes pop but I'm not sure which colour to use to make my eyes more vivid. Thanks!

  • hey cido - bark brown is really a dark shade of orange, so anything that complements orange will complement your dark browns. Purples with red undertones are great, it will definitely give a little pop to the green in your eyes. Try Burgundies too - I find those great for brown eyes as well.

  • that was sooo helpful thankyou!!

  • Thank you, you're GREAT!!!

    But I have a question

I have orangy-ish honey brown eyes, sometimes they almost look dark yellow in the light, and I'm not so sure how to use blue eyeshadow... and still make it look good :( Because blue eyeshadow sort of went out of date a while ago :(

How can you use blue eyeshadow and still make it work? :)Thank you <3

    PS Are you Filipino? :)

PPS I am too! Well... only half, my dad is full Swedish :/

  • it falls under a shade of orange, so you can definitely make blue works. Lots of blue shadows this season, soplay with different looks. 1/4 fil here.

  • OMG! I have been waiting for this!!! I'm so excited that you have this up! Thank you! you ROCK!

  • this is a great video koren. u really get to the root of makeup. love your attention to detail, these are the things i wanted to know at the mac counter but the sales people don't know anything, this just goes to show that u have to love what u do. u are a genius, u should teach. thanks for all the hard work!

  • hey! thank you for all your videos.

i have pretty much pitch black eyes, you cant even see my pupils so what color of eyeshadow would compliment my eyes?

since black isnt on the color wheel :S

  • much like a black dress - black goes with anything. Black eyed beauties doesnt realize how lucky they are - sigh :)

  • No WAY!!!! I'm so envious of like blue-eyed beauties and green-eyed people :'(. I have black eyes, or like really really really REALLY dark brown eyes...

  • really?

well, that works for me =]

  • Thank you for posting this video...all your videos are such a great help. I have so much different shadows and sometimes i experiment and the colors look horrible together. Which is embarrasing esp. when im about to go to the clubs or to a party. Please keep up all ur vids...

  • please keep making your videos.. i'm so clue less so your videos are a BIG help!!!

  • where can you buy a color wheel at enkore!

  • Thanks for the video, it is absolutly useful

  • Great Video Koren. I just have a question does your complexion play a role with the colors that may compliment your eyes? I have a darker complexion with dark brown eyes.

  • hey babiluv - it depends in what you want to POP more, most want their eyes to stand out more, so the focus is on eyes. The skin in any tone is neutral in most cases, so focus usually goes to colors, which is usually either eyes, or lips.

  • what color compliments brown eyes?

  • hey princessa -browns are dark shade of orange, so anything blue, golds, and various browns will directly complement it.

  • we have the same color wheel. lol

  • do you think michales would have a color wheel

  • They should, I found one at a walmart supercenter. (arts and crafts section)

  • Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it. I need to go get myself a color wheel.

  • i should drop by micheals again to get the color wheel but i always just get frustrated because it takes forever to find the stuff i want lol

  • what if i had black eyes or like really dark brown eyes. there's no brown or black in the colourwheel =(

  • i know i was just about to say that my eyes are black brown(but more blackish)

  • i have a problem. what if i have black eyes =(

  • Black is the luckiest - any color goes with it.

  • yay

  • oh! haha! =) thanks!

  • ya this info so kewl thanks so much Enkore, we just leart color theory in class today keep the information coming :)))

  • My last question.. a promisse u!

where i can buy this color wheel..its amazing.. can u tell me where i can buy one?

    pleaseee answer me.

    xx

    rosangela

  • hey rosangela - you buy them at ART stores or craft stores. Just ast art students perhaps, or wherever you get artist supplies. Paint stores have them too.

  • I loved the way you reacted when you said green and red go together, it was awesome!

i love your videos, they are soooo helpful!

  • I want that color wheel!

the best i found on the net is kuler

but a real one would me buch more handy

  • haha i meant would Be Much more handy LOL :)

  • lol when i was watching this it froze at 1:31... funny face. very good vid

  • Ya can kinda get them on google images - its not double sided but ya can do the arrow bit with ya finger lol .. if that helps ya =S

  • EnKore, it would be really cool if you could scan your color wheel and put the images somewhere for us to print out. Then we can print out each of the two pieces of the wheel, front and back, and assemble our own.

    Just a thought :)

  • I agree with leslie...ur my new makeup teacher...thanx a bunch...im sitting with my pad and paper jotting things down....lol...trudiva

  • when i was learning the color theory in art class i didn't understand a thing the teacher was explaining - yet, when I watched your video i understood everything! you're a great teacher =) i love how you explained it in a slow tone (but not too slow) ..and not too fast. makes it so easy to understand. thank you!

  • ur like my new makeup teacher i love urr videos alot thnk u lots

  • red-violet lol... i usually call that colour pink. that might be just me though haha ;)

  • awesome.. i love it!!! keep foin u're thing .. im learning soo much from u!!!!!!!!!!

  • what will complement black eyes? hehehe

  • ehm... white?

  • White is not a colour, since it has no hue! Or if you prefer it's the lightest tint of every colour!

  • well.. also black is not a color.....

  • Anything.

  • You have a nice hat thingy :)

  • I work with colors but I never understand the idea of primary colors.. I mean.. You can make any color with magenta, cyan and yellow, if the base color is white. And, with red green and blue, with a base color black.

And what about this yellow? If you ask me, that's just mixing up those two systems of primary colors, or am I missing something?

  • Yellow is a primary color. Its not a result of mixing other colors. GREEN is secondary. Its a mixture of blue and yellow.

  • depends which color system you use. There is the additive color system RGB that's used for computer screens, by mixing light, and there is the subtractive system CMYK that's used for print, by reflecting only parts of the white light. try google or wikipedia :p

  • Yes but I don't see this system anywhere. And when I look at hue bars, I see 6 main colors.. It goes from red, to yellow to green to cyan to blue to magenta to red. Going from one side to another means you moved 360 degrees on the hue "axis". Which I bet the colorwheel is derived from. And rgb, and cym are equally spaced away from each other on this scale. I don't say it isn't true.. but I just wanna underand it.

  • Thanks Koren....I love your videos. So HELPFUL!!!! and u are so cute and adorable!!!

  • I took 4 years of art, 3 years of photography, and 2 years of graphic design and never had I found such an easy but throrough explanation of colors! You're such a pro!
