Urm.. If you drag the gradient to half of the "button" before clicking CTRL+D instead of all the way to the bottom and then deselect it and blur it using the blur tool I find it looks more like a glossy button.... But yeah I wouldn't have realised that without this tut so thanks :)
If you find it looks better too then like this comment so others can see.
@crudnup I had the same issue of it selecting the whole box, not just the shape. Click on the 'vector mask thumbnail' - or the box on the right in the layer box. I am using cs4, so maybe they changed it?
i can do everything apart from the bit where u have to hold control and click the box layer so it makes a marqee around the black box, mine just does a marqee over the whole white box, i have obviously done something wrong so some1 please help!
A simple step to add to this would be after it is all done run the blur tool along the edges of the gloss layer. Really smooths things out. Great tutorials BTW
nice tutorial, i had to have a few goes but eventually i got it, would be nice if you could reposition the annotations because sometimes it gets in the way of being able to see what is happening
Excellent tutorial. I've been using 3dsmax and after effects for almost 2 yrs now. I always wanted to learn photoshop and your tutorials are definitely helpful.
By far the BEST tutorial on button creation. Dude there were minor steps that seem easy but too critical for someone that does not use the tool to know by himself. You covered every single step. Thank you for this, you saved me. Deadline at 11th of May 2009. i hope i'll make it :P
I did last night. You make some very detailed videos. I already knew the basics for this, but this video helped a lot. I can now do it so much faster and better than before. Thanks again and I look forward to more tutorials. :)
that was freakn sweet
